Final Fantasy = Choke Artist This was FF's match to lose. After all, FF7 is the supposedly the Best. Game. Ever, according to GameFAQs faithful, but the series is getting it's ass whooped by Zelda. I mean, FF7 embarassed OoT in the Game Contest, and FF had more games in the top 100 than Zelda. FF loses, and deserves to lose. --- Series Contest Score: 60/64 Today's Pick: Final Fantasy |

A good match? It's BEEN pretty good -- one of the better opening hours
in a championship match yet, and this match is almost-certainly not
goin' to go 55-45. There's other series I wish was here beside LoZ and
FF, but it's not been too bad of a match. --- Miss my Four-Pack Of Fun? Go here: http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/gentopic.php?board=585007 |

I would try to combat all this anti-Zelda vibe, but it would be a bit
unprofessional of me, seeing as how the Stats Topic seems to be a haven
of sorts for FF fans. I'm sorry for you guys, but I cannot hide the joy
I feel inside. Not only is my favorite series winning, but it's pulling
off the most unexpected win since 2003. --- Watch and you'll see... someday I'll be... part of your WOOOOOOOOORLD!!! |

Not only is my favorite series winning, but it's pulling off the most unexpected win since 2003. Sorry, but I have to point to Knuckles/Magus here. On the bright side, this match is gaining on FF/Mario in total votes. It's less than 200 behind at the moment. --- Nominate Aeris for SC2k6 |

Oh, definitely. Before the contest I thought Zelda had no chance. And I
do like Zelda. It's just that I get tired of seeing Zelda win
everything. If Cloud had won the last two contests and this happened,
I'd be celebrating. --- Nominate Aeris for SC2k6 |

He did even more in 2k5. Didn't stop him from getting flattened even more. Cloud/Sephiroth was the closest one, though it was hardly entertaining. I'd like to point out that this is the most exciting final we've ever had. Not that that's saying a whole lot. The most exciting championship match was CT/FFVII, if you ask me. Chrono Trigger leading FFVII for thirty minutes and going back and forth for an hour beats anything we've seen in this match. Oh, sure, it got ugly after that hour, but this match has hardly been entertaining. Zelda has been in complete control since the start. --- Give you 10G if you act like a chicken! Yes. No. |
Tatsumaki Senpuu | Posted 8/1/2006 9:57:44 AM | message detail |
You're telling me. That Link/Ganondorf final sucked. Hey, Link/Ganon is far more entertaining than Link/Mario, yo!! I know I loved seeing Link get something like 500 votes before Ganon got one ... or something nutty like that. --- Give you 10G if you act like a chicken! Yes. No. |

The lead's just too large. Unless FF starts making a huge, Master Chief-like push, it isn't winning. This is pretty much over. --- Organization XIII - Number III - Xordac Currently Playing - Suikoden V, Street Fighter Alpha 3, New Super Mario Bros. |
red sox 777 | Posted 8/1/2006 10:53:04 AM | message detail |
The lead is over 3300, but FF is hanging in there. With such high vote
totals, and the fact that it will only get better for FF from here on
out, it might have a small chance at a Duck Hunt style comeback. From 13:45 to 24:00 EST: FF gained 0.68% against SMB. Yuna gained 0.93% against Ganondorf (different start time) Chrono Trigger held essentially even with A Link to the Past, but lost quite a bit to FFVII. Ok, so FF really doesn't have much of a chance, but I refuse to call the match. FF is more or less stalling Zelda in the middle of the day, and Zelda is far better in the morning than in the afternoon. --- Nominate Magus and Crono! |
DaruniaTheGoron | Posted 8/1/2006 10:54:34 AM | message detail |
FF is actually winning some updates during the day here. But FF will
still need a miracle. I'm talking 100 vote updates during the evening. --- Sp2k6: 60/64 Rank: Tied for 1018th Losses: Halo, GTA, SF Nominate Nidoran F and Yesterday's Pick: FF Today's Pick: FF Today's Vote: Zelda CATS in the character contest! |

Zelda in the middle of the day, and Zelda is far better in the morning than in the afternoon. Zelda has actually been surprisingly consistent during this contest. True, morning is its best time, but it has been dominant from morning to the end of the poll. True, with Final Fantasy's night vote history and the fact that it's the strongest thing that's ever trailed, it will force the final result to be pretty close. However, Zelda already has a 3300 vote lead and is the strongest thing that's ever lead. --- Watch and you'll see... someday I'll be... part of your WOOOOOOOOORLD!!! |

Gah, Final Fantasy's collapsing now. I'm tired of the Nintendo domininance on this site and especially this bored. I know a lot of people are, because they call it Nintendofaqs every chance they get, but they say it as it it's bad and undeserved. If it's not Nintendofaqs, what should it be? A mostly balanced, distributed site where the results vary from year to year? FF and Cloud win sometimes; it's true, they really do. But if they won all the time, I'd think the people supporting Link and Mario would be more justified in truly claiming for an upset. Cloud and Sephiroth are old and neither has been in a completely new game since FFVII that actually mattered. Yeah, they had cool roles in Kingdom Hearts, but they're hardly the focal points. FFVII won best game again on this site not last year, but still, we're Nintendofaqs and hate everything square. --- Revenge is a dish best served cold. ~ Old Klingon Proverb |
red sox 777 | Posted 8/1/2006 11:34:02 AM | message detail |
This is about the time that Yuna began to increase percentage against
Ganondorf, and Magus began to slow down Ganondorf. Also, Crono returned
to gaining against Mario around this time in 2003. The day vote
gradually transitions into the evening vote a lot earlier in summer
than during the school year, and while Zelda and Mario are good in the
afternoon, we are heading towards Final Fantasy's strongest time. This
will end under 51/49. Come on Final Fantasy for the largest comeback
ever! --- Nominate Magus and Crono! |

FFVII topped a top ten list from a pool that is extremely
dissimilar to the voting pool. More and more I'm thinking FFVII is less
of a lock for winning another Games Contest -- and it ain't gonna be TP
that does it, for those that are delusional. Which proves that NintendoFAQs isn't all bad, as it does throw many matches into question that weren't debated before. Could OoT upset FFVII? Could Mario 3 or SSBM take down CT? Even matches like this are still relatively close -- correct me if I'm wrong, but won't this end up as one of the closest matches of the contest? -- and this is still an upset by the board's standards. It's not an ideal situation by any means, but NintendoFAQs isn't all bad. The problem with it is that it's not enough. For all the shift that we had in 2k5, Mario didn't even come close to beating Sephiroth. Bowser couldn't upend Snake, and I doubt Ganondorf can either. If you take Link out, I don't care if Nintendo boosts for five more years, this is still going to be CloudFAQs. So if it's not going to be enough, why have it at all? Keeping Nintendo and Square close is the optimum circumstance for unpredictability, so I'd like to see it continue. Actually, what I'd like to see is something other than Nintendo and Square actually get a foothold in these things. Honestly, GameFAQs, would it have killed you to let Dante > Vincent, Ryu > Bowser, or The King of All Cosmos > anyone? --- Do not kill. Do not rape. Do not steal. These are principles which every man of every faith can embrace. These are codes of behavior. |
