FF really took advantage of the dead hours against Mario. This lead
isn't big enough that Zelda's safe just yet. Unfortunately for FF, the
day vote hours are considerably longer and more important than dead

Wait, Zelda was 11 at that time. My bad. Either way, those series were
all half as old as they are now when those games came along, and Mario
already has a couple of titles on that level as it is. For Galaxy to
surpass both Mario 64 and SMB3 it'd take a miracle. --- ... Detective in Sir Chris' Police |

And it's about the same reasoning for Zelda, too...I think Twilight
Princess will certainly make Zelda as a series even stronger than

lol OoT, FF7, SotN OoT, FF7 and SotN are the three games that introduced those series to new gamers and truly made them mainstream(Well kind of mainstream in Castlevania's way). Great job comparing that to a series like Mario. |

For Mario in a character battle I agree. For the Super Mario Bros.
series I do not. We've all seen this contest play out, and it looks as
if most voters take the whole series into consideration. For it to move
the Mario series that much, Galaxy would have to be astounding.
Otherwise, if it was just better than Sunshine, it'd just barely gain a
single %. I mean, really, do you think it'd do significantly worse if
NSMB hadn't come out? That game was at least better than Sunshine,
after all. And besides, by the time any of that matters FF12 will be out, and it will be liked. From what I've been told by people who actually know, the demo was bad but the rest of the game isn't --- ... Detective in Sir Chris' Police |

I'm about ready to call this match. Unless FF starts making it's move
soon, it has a really uphill battle to even make this a match. Granted, a 2000 vote lead with these votals is alot closer than some past matches with a 2000 vote difference. Zeldafaqs? Ha... 150k is a hell of a lot more than what other sites who
host tournaments such at these ever rake in vote wise. And 150k is a
hell of a lot of people. It isn't just this site's opinion, in general
it's the opinion of a hell of a lot of people as a whole. And clearly
your opinion is only going to be worth about 1/150,000th of this match

And personally, I think the shift from SquareFAQs to NintendoFAQs is
welcome if only for the change of pace. I was getting tired of Final

Woo!! So, Zelda has no chance now, right? ;) The best part about all of this is that after every Zelda and FF match of the contest, people would try to justify how FF is still stronger. Stuff like MMX was major, major, MAJOR SFF(I'm not saying there was no SFF. Just not to the extreme that was said) while Diablo is a strong series. A semi final match with a group going 100? Pretty amazing. Also means we would have avoided a perfect bracket if SMB had won. The prediction percentage takes a huge dive at the -1s, but it still reamins above 80. Which is once again amazing for a semi final match, especially when you consider how close SMB got to FF in the end. 6 people fell off the Top 50 today. Tomoyo_Daidouji, PaGz_GF, OmniscientOne, Mingin444, Barbarian_K and chris1815, who had SMB taking the entire contest, have fallen off the Top 50 for taking SMB over FF. Even in retrospect, we had no substantial indication of Zelda>Final Fantasy until Zelda/MG (and obviously Final Fantasy/SMB). Really...89.97% on Civilization hardly screamed "Strongest force ever!" (Wow actually...Go Civilization! That's not bad) Whereas Final Fantasy/Diablo did. And the MMX and Metroid matches didn't mean too much. Also you didn't need RE>MG to think Final Fantasy could win this at all.
