^^

Plus after seeing what Shadow Hearts and Suikoden did in this contest, I wouldn't trust the board either.

I'm glad nominations are on the poll results. I think it's a great idea. We only want the strongest characters... right?

I doubt this is a very good way to get the strongest characters in the field (maybe you were being sarcastic...?), but this is a contest for the masses before anything else, so it certainly isn't a bad idea.

Uh, yeah, it's slowing down from 57% per update. Final Fantasy should start winning updates sometime soon.

Somehow I feel the appearance of 19,000 FF7 characters in the next contest. Anyway, this is exactly what happened in Mario/FF, except that LoZ is much stronger. It should make things much more interesting, and LoZ has it far from won.

I don't think the noms being up on the poll page is too big of a deal. I don't think it's too obvious, and when I vote I just vote, quickly look at the bars to see who's winning, then click on the "boards" and get the hell off that page. Maybe I'm wrong, though...

The picture I loved was the -8 one. All pics are up on my gallery now.

It's fine, but take my name off. The idea is to make it look like you're saying that, not me =p

OK. I see now - the point is to get your point across, as well as make me feel uncomfortable with the "best poster" thing. Insidious ;)

Anyway, were you at least impressed with Mario yesterday? Even a little?

Certainly, yes. Great job by SMB, didn't think it could do it after the SSB thing (so also great by SSB). Even more disappointed with Final Fantasy though. Especially after this start. Both Zelda and Final Fantasy are wonderful and I adore them both, but I root for Final Fantasy more.

Seems like this site is now completely NintendoFAQs. I'm not complaining though, just saying that the metamorphosis is now about to be officially complete (barring drastic changes in this result).

As the best poster in the stats topic, I move that we all stop acting like elitist know-it-alls about matches that aren't horribly obvious.

This match has less than a hundred votes more than Mario/FF at this point. So yeah, I wouldn't expect the totals to be that much higher.

I think Mario might keep "Most Impressive Loser" though.

Deus ex machina is a Latin phrase that is used to describe an unexpected, artificial, or improbable character, device, or event introduced suddenly in a work of fiction or drama to resolve a situation or untangle a plot

There. Minus the "fiction" part, it's fairly accurate for what I was meaning.

Really, they're just as bad as us when nominating joke characters, just they don't know it yet.

"Zelda pushes it to over 1000. Keep in mind that Final Fantasy will have one hell of a time trying to pull 60% updates on this series."

It doesn't need updates that big yet. If Zelda keeps this up for 2-3 hours, maybe, but if FF can turn the tide before then it could easily win off of a day full of 53% updates.

"Deus ex machina" is a term used for an outside influence that seems to magically manipulate things, often in stories. It comes from old Greek plays, where there would literally be a god or gods that would descend from the heavens and solve everyone's problems without prior provocation; thus, the name (I believe) literally means "god from the machine."

THE MORE YOU KNOW ~!

Ditto. I love both FF and Zelda (and I'm sure nearly everyone on this site has played an FF, a Mario, and a Zelda title), but FF is my favorite series by a mile.

The contribution for fanbases of games other than FF7 being more substantial than the same for OoT, I'd think.
