From Slowflake Posted 7/31/2006 10:55:05 AM #440 Yeah. I'm calling for our first real case of rSFF there. Sephiroth in 2K3. --- That... was her final mission. And like a true soldier, she saw it through the end. ZSB [aX] |
gtonizuka49 | Posted 7/31/2006 9:34:54 AM | message detail |
I'm just calling it an overperformance by SSB, like Shadow did to
Mario, but in the end I would still take it as the 4th strongest series. Agreed. Call it rSFF or don't call it anything; the bottom line is Smash had a great performance. Even though it might look stronger in the stats than it really is, the gap between it and the next strongest series is simply too great for me to risk anything. Plus, I doubt Metal Gear or Mega Man can match its performance against Sonic. --- Watch and you'll see... someday I'll be... part of your WOOOOOOOOORLD!!! |

Question: If GTA3, GTA:VC, and GTA:SA all had one hero for all three
games, and the games were still just as cool and popular and fun as
they are now, would that character be elite or near elite status? Still

Damn typos. Anyway, since I deleted it, I say FF ends around 8000 ahead
of Mario at this rate. FF is extending it's lead. Mario's only winning
the occasional update. --- That... was her final mission. And like a true soldier, she saw it through the end. ZSB [aX] |

Or rather, he SFFed him BECAUSE he got more bracket support. That's what I've been claiming from day one. Seriously, what's the big deal to a FF7 fan between voting for Cloud or for Sephiroth? f Mario stays above 47% for the rest of the match, Zelda goes in as
the definite favorite. This is not even slightly debatable unless you
believe at least one of the following theories: 1. Mario, as a series, is pretty damn close to Zelda in terms of strength. 2. Mario is getting some Nintendo support that Zelda won't receive. Now, unless the vaunted "voter shift" has favored just Mario more than it has actually favored Nintendo, I see no reason to believe #1, especially since Link would have still broken 60% on Mario last year. Of course, #2 just sounds goofy. If any Nintendo site is linking to today's poll, they'll link to tomorrow's one. I also expect Nintendo fanboys and rally-ers to be even more tenacious tomorrow - last chance and all. FF winning by over 5000 makes me feel a bit better about its chances
against Zelda. Remember how everyone thought Doomsday was coming for
LTTP against CT when FF6 went up by 200? Everyone forgets that LTTP won
by like 5000 there. ~*ST*~ --- Winner of the Spring 2004 "Best. Game. Ever." Contest Now Playing: Resident Evil 4, KH:COM (Sora), Larussa 92 (NYY) |

Winning by 5000 in a match with 80k total votes is different than
winning by 5000 in a match with 150k (it'd be equivalent to a win of
9375). Though it'll surely go up a bit later. --- "Those who cast the vote decide nothing. Those who count the vote decide everything." |

You know for what's it's worth, Mario had a bigger increase from 2k4 to 2k5 than Link did. On Base Link (03) Mario 2k4: 37.28% Mario 2k5: 43.20% Link 2k4: 53.38% Link 2k5: 54.56% This could mean that Mario and his series benefited more from the "Nintendo boost" than Link did. Not surprising really, seeing as how he is Nintendo's mascot basically. I'll still call Zelda the favorite for now, but I wouldn't be surprised if Zelda and Mario end up being quite close together. --- Organization XIII - Number III - Xordac Currently Playing - Suikoden V, Street Fighter Alpha 3, New Super Mario Bros. |

Regardless of today's match, I still think FF is going to beat LoZ
tomorrow. I can't tell you how many people I've seen that have said
they prefer FF to Mario, but voted for Mario anyway, because it's freakin' Mario,
I don't think Zelda/Link whatever share that same kind of support. Sure
I'd still take LoZ to beat Mario in an indirect match, and LoZ might
perform slightly better than Mario does against FF, but I'm still
taking FF to win. --- Explicit Content Cheer Up Emo Kids - Team Tranny Did! |

I also don't think Smash is as far ahead of everything else as the
stats predict, but I do believe it's the 4th strongest. I was just
going to type what I thought happened in smb/ssb, but I honestly don't
know; what could it be? I voted ssb, but how in good conscience do you
vote for two games over ALL of Mario? That's shocking. Maybe somehow it
really is just that damn strong. If its fanbase won't abandon it
against Mario of all things, maybe it's holds up against others, too. --- Revenge is a dish best served cold. ~ Old Klingon Proverb |
