Hmm, blame boredom, but with seeding according to strength. (1)Legend of Zelda (8)Kirby (4)Pokemon (5)Star Ocean (3)Metroid (6)Suikoden (2)Mega Man X (7)Civilization Well, while Hyrule would have still been pretty obvious to most, I know MMX vs. Metroid would have still gotten some debate. (1)Metal Gear (8)Harvest Moon (4)Halo (5)Fire Emblem (3)Castlevania (6)Soul Calibur (2)Kingdom Hearts (7)Silent Hill I know a bunch of people would try to justify Halo over MG pre-Contest. Not necessarily in this topic, but on the board. Other than that, this division wouldn't be too much fun. (1)Super Mario Bros. (8)Madden NFL (4)WarCraft (5)Devil May Cry (3)Sonic (6)Grand Theft Auto (2)Super Smash Bros. (7)Dragon Quest Wow, Warcraft/DMC would have been, interesting to say the least. And I'm sure some people would have argued GTA over Sonic. (1)Final Fantasy (8)Shadow Hearts (4)Street Fighter (5)Mario Kart (3)Resident Evil (6)Elder Scrolls (2)Mega Man (7)Diablo A SF/MK match would have gotten tons of debate pre-Contest. So in the interest of fun. What percentage does Zelda have to get on

characters that wouldn't be fodder that haven't already been in are

Heh, Metal Gear/Kingdom Hearts is still the top vote drawer of the
contest. It's just that 147,000 votes is a BIG leap. You kinda have to
have two of the big three in one match to do it, and really, I haven't
been all that impressed with Mario's drawing power. I'm doubting

Well, Cloud/Link had 10k more votes than Metal Gear/Kingdom Hearts, and
Zelda/Metroid and Zelda/MMX drew 9k and 28k more than Metroid/Pokemon
and MMX/Suikoden, respectively. I think the possibility certainly

CJayC's probably gonna hype up the contest with something like "Who's stronger, boys or girls?" Then we'll end up with "LOL, looks like girls are stronger!" after Samus barely tweaks by Crono with 50.15% or something in the finals, with half the female characters falling below Eggplant CATS and a couple even daring to rival Tanner in sheer suckitude. Then in the ToC, Mario will get 60% on Samus. Boy, that would be odd. To reply to something hours old... Lloyd Irving is actually popular among the ToS fanbase, he just isn't on Board 8. Everybody uses Lloyd, man. Sheena could be stronger than him, but I wouldn't be sure. Probably pretty close either way. Honestly, if you had a poll here, Kratos would win (obviously),
Sheena and Zelos would come 2nd and 3rd, and Lloyd would come in 4th. Where's here? Board 8 or GameFAQS at large? If it's the latter, I doubt that Zelos would beat Lloyd even in an indirect poll. I even have doubts that Sheena would. Rikku barely beat Tidus in the Favorite FFX character poll. In regards to contest performance, I doubt anyone other than Kratos would perform better than Lloyd short of a major fluke ala Mithos. Sure, "everybody hates Lloyd," but "everybody hates Tidus," as well, and Tidus performs better than any other character from his game except Auron. Yuna's performed comparably to Tidus but only after starring in her own game. In 2003, she was distinctly below him. --- "Dropo! You're the laziest man on Mars." |

I meant in a GameFAQs Favorite Character poll. Lloyd most certainly
wouldn't come in 2nd there. Whether or not he's the 2nd most popular
character or not, I don't know. I'm just saying I wouldn't be surprised

Hmmm...I have a feeling Mario is going to get destroyed the day after
tomorrow. He couldn't even draw 80k votes against a series from the
same company. Meanwhile, FF is going to break 100k yet again on what's
potentially one of the top 10 series in this contest. It seems strange
to say, but Mario just can't compete with that kind of vote drawing

take either one over Terra. Lloyd isn't necessary hated among the fanbase, but nearly everyone prefers Kratos and then Sheena after that. Lloyd would definitely be a good third (even if Zelos is generally preferred to Lloyd) here at GameFAQs, I would imagine. I would still expect Sheena to be stronger in a contest, which wouldn't be surprising nor hard to do. --- Give you 10G if you act like a chicken! Yes. No. |

When the entire Mario series fails to match just Final Fantasy VII
against SSB(granted, FF7 only faced SSBM, but how much difference is

Could be. Of course, Melee does have a lot of things going for it.
While the whole "NintendoFAQs" and "shifting of the voter pool"

I know you don't mean that as anti-Mario as I took it, but the Mario series, on merit (and we're obviously drifting into opinion territory here) and anything else deserves to win as much as Final Fantasy. The Mario series, I guess depending on what you consider as the Mario series, is just as worthy as FF. We've already seen that "merit" doesn't mean crap here. If it did,
