Hmm...thinking some more, though, a hell of a lot of dumb casuals have Mario beating FF. Maybe I shouldn't be too worried. Final Fantasy VII had over 40% taking it to win the whole contest. Final Fantasy as a series has no less than that, guaranteed. --- As you wish. |

So what do you make of that line anyway, Transience? It confused the
heck out of me when I first read it, and then later it appeared
verbatim a second and third time. I have a hard time accepting a script

| ^That was my first reaction too, I was thinking are these guys some major FF fanboys or what? But then I realized RE4 can't be underestimated, and it is likely that RE is stronger than what it showed due to that horrendous pic against SF. |

I didn't think much of Zelda beating Civilization (it was fodder),
raised an eyebrow when it decimated MMX (though I figured SFF was a
factor) and knew Metroid was going to be SFF'd to death and it was. But to have it getting 72%+ on Metal Gear finally has me convinced it could beat FF. --- Today's subliminal thought is: |

Well, SFF matches don't tend to have huge shifts. The biggest one I can
think of is...what, Bowser/Kirby? There's also Civ to think about,
though that's such bad fodder I can't imagine it being susceptible to
huge shifts (like SH). So, uh...nah, it doesn't matter. Metal Gear is
able to defy anything and everything when it comes to bombing with the
day vote. It can't even impress here, it's going to get majorly ugly

Random thought: If Zelda/Final Fantasy turns into a real barn-burner
(and thus, the greatest match ever), I'll give the edge to Zelda. I
know there'll be intense rallying on both sides regardless, but I think
the Nintendo fans will have tons of resolve and will be seeking
vengeance after watching Mario get owned. --- Watch and you'll see... someday I'll be... part of your WOOOOOOOOORLD!!! |

That's just the thing - this one could indirectly involve Mario. I'm
betting a pissed off Mario fan would more likely rally for Zelda in the

That's a tough pill to swallow, especially when you might not even have expected it. I'd think that someone who voted Mario would be likely to vote Zelda

Assuming Zelda pulls off the big upset, how do we try to justify it?
Zelda has the NES and SNES generations under its belt, but Final
Fantasy has the strongest game of all in the PS/N64 generation. The
current gen is a bit of a mystery, but I'd take FFX over Wind Waker. I
doubt their handheld games would do much to influence a voter's
decision, and we all know that TP/FFXII/FFXIII hype won't amount to

This pic thing confuses me... no recognition pretty much means Ceej
made the pic himself, but I don't see it being a theme either, because
honestly, who the crunk can Ceej use as the face of the Final Fantasy

I've already come up with numerous justifications, even before this.
FF's diversity could theoretically hurt more than help, and that with
NintendoFAQs = trouble. Or, perhaps more shockingly (and I've mentioned
this possibility back during 2k5), perhaps FFVII isn't the site's
favorite game any more (or isn't its favorite by a significant margin).
Yeah, there's the top ten list, but I'm willing to bet the vast
