I was just reading up on the stats topic, and came upon this argument: Karma Hunter, I'm not sure why you insist that performing well on Halo is anything special after it's been exposed repeatedly. Isn't it obvious though? I mean who ever really denied Xbox/Halo getting anti-votes? In my opinion, it would be only logical to presume that these anti-votes would make more of a difference against weaker opponents (as the stronger opponents wouldn't be relying on anti-votes for the win). Seriously, after seeing these kinds of polls http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=2082 http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=2118 something doesn't add up concerning Halo/Chief and the cause for it has been accepted a long time ago. Also, I'm sceptical about Halo being exposed. Seriously. Fire Emblem hanging with it, Silent Hill beating Soul Calibur? No thanks. You're talking about an optional boss fight for Sephiroth boosting him like crazy on the notion that he has been exposed to an audience that would not otherwise be exposed to him. If that many people were swayed by an optional boss fight, how many more will be swayed by his much increased role in KH2??? Not everyone that got exposed to Sephiroth for the first time voted for him, after all. It's not very hard to conceive this exposure to an entirely new audience to be, in fact, the biggest cause for the boost. I mean, I've seen some major SSBM boosting Samus arguments lately. Ness and others as well, but specifically and especially Samus, as she's so "awesome" in it. SSBM brings in Samus voters specifically now? No no, it is certainly more acceptable that SSBM boosts its characters due to exposure, likeability (like Leon, KH Sephiroth) not influx. And after seeing stuff like Ness > CJ (despite also seeing stuff like Mario > Cloud) I'm a firm believer influx doesn't account for much, at least not as much, as exposure. And the arguments that say KH2 should put Sephiroth over Link then don't really work, because creativename's point was that KH2 will grant less exposure (which is a very logical thing to say). Although I'm fairly sure KH and KH2's fanbase don't overlap overly much and KH2 will give a very nice boost anyway. So which characters do you guys want to see in this contest the most? Vincent Valentine. With Advent Children's NA release, DoC releasing during the contest, and arguably some influx KH2-votes, he could do some serious damage. I wouldn't take him over any noble nine characters, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if he beat any, and I'd sure as hell would like to see him try. It pains me to see that even after one hell of a performance last year, few people seem to be nominating him. Also, a random thing I'd like to say was if anyone thinks MGS4 hype could nicely boost Snake for the character battle? I ran across this yesterday: http://www.gametrailers.com/search.php Check out those total downloads. I know this is a collection of several trailers for MGS4, and it is probable that some people downloaded the same trailer multiple times, but still, it's just one site, and 1,743,812 downloads? Sorry about the mass influx of posts about Zolom but I looked it up
just to make sure I wasnt spreading false info as its been a while

Wow, SMB isn't even outdoing Final Fantasy VII on SSB, in

Well I said Mega KINDA exposed FF because we all thought it was a
monster after it ate Diablo up in one gulp. Before the contest, we all
probably would have thought Mega Man was just one notch above Diablo,
right? But then he goes and outdoes Diablo by 10%, showing that it was

....How is SMB doing bad on SSB again? Not outdoing Final Fantasy VII by itself against SSB when it is a SFF matchup means that SMB isn't as elite as we think it is... Still separate from the rest of the pack, but it doesn't look like it will be able to touch Final Fantasy... I am extremely hesitant to draw anything off a SMB/SSB match (and
understandably so).. that said, give me Sonic. woulda taken Sonic
before the contest, too. But we still have direct comparisions between performances of SSB/SSBM. If you assume that SSB the series = SSBM, SMB is looking about as strong as FFVII without SFF. With SFF, it would be weaker. Of course, from there you have to factor in how much stronger you think SSB the series is than SSBM and whether or not SSBM gained any popularity since 2k4. Match XXVIII: (1) Final Fantasy vs. (2) Resident Evil Past Matches Final Fantasy Defeated Diablo, 85.98% - 14.02% Defeated Mega Man, 74.19% - 25.81% Resident Evil Defeated Shadow Hearts, 87.76% - 12.24% Defeated Street Fighter, 50.73% - 49.27% Analysis: Even though Final Fantasy failed to triple Mega Man it still broke 100k, a thing that we haven’t seen happen before, just another impressive performance done by the Big 3. Resident Evil barely defeated its opponent, but has taken the title of 2nd best Capcom series (MMX = spin-off). If Resident Evil 4 hadn’t been released we would’ve seen a different outcome (though I would think more people would’ve taken SF > RE). Since Mega Man is the strongest Capcom series and Final Fantasy already beat it this match isn’t really in question, though it never really was. Resident Evil will probably score anywhere between Mega Man and Diablo, but I think Resident Evil will fail to break 20%. This is really sad since Resident Evil broke 85% on Shadow Hearts and now I’m expecting it to fail against 20%. Not much to talk about in this match. Only two series have any chance on taking on Final Fantasy and Resident Evil isn’t one of them.
