personally believe the Nintendo "boost" was partially in effect in
2004 as well. FFVII beat OoT with ease and Link still went berserk in

I wonder how long this "Nintendo boost" lasts. I wasn't here for 2k4 -
were people expecting "KHF" to continue and for Cloud to beat Link? I'd
think that with KH and FF12, there would be some kind of shift away
from Nintendo.. though I guess games like TP would also help Nintendo

KHF version 1.0 is *still* in effect, as far as I'm concerned. Thek
Nintendo boost is likely here to stay. It would be really weird to see
all the Nintendo characters in the contest drop a little, for what it's

You know, I just realized something good about SFF. You pit a couple of tough opponents together, and if the winner ends up getting an SFF beating, you'll have no idea how strong that whole segment is for next time. There is no way FF12 helps Cloud and Sephy. The idea behind it helping Cloud and Sephiroth is to bring more Square fans to the site than any other fanbase. They may not be directly involved in the game, but the people coming to the site during its release are more likely to vote for Cloud and Sephiroth over others. Yeah, Sephiroth's boost was astronomical (and even more insane if you
think he overperformed on Link in 2k2), and his role in the original KH
is an easily missed optional boss fight. Boosting up to BL based on

I saw it said that Squall was the biggest ff presence in KHII, but the
fight with Sephiroth was outstanding. He deserves to get a nice boost

While I think Kingdom Hearts provided bigger boosts for the primary
ones involved (Cloud, Squall, and Sephiroth), I think there was a
general increase in strength for Final Fantasy. After all, Aeris did

Kingdom Hearts 2 shouldn't matter much for Cloud/Sephiroth considering
the general consensus was the "new fanbase exposure" being what helped

If the role mattered so much, anyone taking Link over Sephiroth would
be out of their mind. Sephiroth had a non-optional scene in Kingdom

Aeris did nothing, but I would still have expected her to benefit more
than Sephiroth based on screentime alone. The fact is that Sephiroth's
role in the game mattered very little, aside from perhaps getting

The sales of the second may not have surpassed the first yet, but plenty of people who hadn't bought the first went out and bought the second. creative, I think what HM is arguing is that, while the KH boost existed, it wasn't the sole reason for Cloud/Sephy/Aeris/Squall getting boosted so considerably. Am I correct in thinking this? --- This was Ed Bellis. |

I thought Vincent could get a good boost from DoC. However the game apparently is crap so I doubt now it will help him.
