I was thinking SMRPG/SF2... Kefka/Knuckles is probably more, I don't know the percentages offhand.

MC/Crono went from Crono stabilizing at 70% for the first two hours to MC whittling that down to 61% by the end.

Knuckles finished with 57.46%, though Kefka never really "stabilized" with a lead.

That was not a good update for Metal Gear. It dropped off quite a bit, while KH went up a slight bit.

At the 3:25 mark, this match has 29902 votes. To compare with other matches at the same time:

Castlevania/Kingdom Hearts - 28736
Sonic/SSB - 28551
Final Fantasy/Mega Man - 30876
Zelda/Metroid - 30036

Metal Gear's current percentage: 61.59%
From this point, Metal Gear lost 3.10% against Soul Calibur.
From this point, Metal Gear lost 3.01% against Fire Emblem.

Pretty high vote totals, and at this rate, Metal Gear's looking at around 58.50% for the final percentage, if Kingdom Hearts fares no better than those two.

or is he simply trying to get new characers in to make difficul matches OR his is a ploy to stop CATS enering he contest along with gordon freeman since they don't get that many nominations.

The new size of that sentence will help a couple of people here who don't have the best reading comprehension, and already Leon proves it.

Hey now. I realized I needed to emphasize that sentence more when I saw someone link to time sorted updates last week. Since *I* had completely forgotten about the feature and was like "What!? Cool! ...wait, there's a sentence too?" Hence, the increased emphasis.

Did Cloud have a prominent role in Kingdom Hearts 2?

*some KH2 spoilers*

It was more or less the prominence of his role in the first one. Cloud has a conversation with Aerith, gets a lot of screentime and cool lines during the Thousands Heartless Battle, and also has the culminating Advent Children-styled fight against Sephiroth alongside Tifa (though that's only if you do the optional fight with Sephiroth). I'd say he has more of a role in KH2 than KH1, but he shares screentime with a lot more characters. Leon (Squall) remains the most prominent Final Fantasy character by far, even if his role is somewhat diminished.

Sephiroth's role, however, is increased monstrously from his role in KH1. In KH he got an optional fight that came out of nowhere (and is indeed so random and easy to miss that KH2 acts like it never happened). He actually has non-optional screentime in KH2, as well as the fight with Cloud if you do his optional boss fight (obviously).

*END SPOILERS*

Prominence of the roles aside, I think KH2 is enough to put Cloud a point or so ahead of Link 2k5 and Sephiroth safely ahead of BL, even though it won't be nearly as massive as KH1. I'm still going to likely take Link this year, as Twilight Princess coming out during the contest seems more and more likely as time goes on.

Then again, I may take Cloud simply for the edge it would give me on all the board brackets should he actually pull off the miracle.

Barring something crazy (Resident Evil over Final Fantasy crazy), no. We'll likely end up with a perfect this year, and even if we don't there's no way the winner misses more than one match. Sorry.

technically, there's 8 people left now, although only 3 people have even a remote chance of winning:

bobby - if FF beats Zelda
Z1mZum - if Zelda beats FF
Tirofog - if SMB beats FF

the other 5 people need either SSB to beat SMB or ridiculously low vote totals in the final match.

CATS (obv)
The Prince (rally)
Jay Solano (rally)
Ridley
Duke Nukem

That leaves two male slots - I have to save one for the possible guru winner should they choose male. Seven females? Hmm, will have to think about that one. No point in wasting a nom with Samus, may have to think about this a lot.

Super Computer vs Hades

Sage of Board 8's Pick: The Tank! (Got land mines?)
Fanbabies Pick: KH in an upset...dream on kiddies!

The interview is postponed for a day or two...so that I can regale you all with The Sage of Board 8's Nominations! As everyone knows, the Sage has played games for over 20 yrs and his picks are reflective of the characters that have made the most impact on his life over the years, or are just plain hilarious and deserve a shot just cause of that...

Beginning with the fairer sex...

Kitana: Mortal Kombat Series
No surprise here to those who know me beyond this site and on Xbox Live, etc. The Princess of the Fans has always been my favorite fighting game character, and in all truth as my interview with Sushi will detail in the next few days, my mastery of this character has won me cash, accolades, and respect over the years. And all who love MK will get another chance to face me in MK Armageddon in a few short months, where Kitana and all the rest are fully playable online. I am more excited for this game right now than even FFXII...

Aeris: FFVII I have nom'd her and Kitana every year, and with good reason...Aeris, the first true tragic heroine of video gaming, touched the hearts of every gamer who ever loaded up the first disc of FFVII and played it through til its sorrowful conclusion. I cried, my wife cried, and so many others I know did too. The boss fight with Jenova Life remains the most poignant and most stirring boss fight in any game I ever played...the piano music...the emotion...all of it is so perfect. This moment alone cements FFVII, even for an MK fanboy like me, as the greatest game of all time.

Rydia: FFIV Before there was ever the tragedy of Ms Gainsborough, or even the inner light of Ms Chere, there was one girl, an orphaned summoner, who gave us the first truly touching (and shocking storylinewise) FF moment, when she saved Cecil & friends from Golbez in another great FF moment. My wife and I's first child we will be having soon will be named Rydia, in honor of this character, the child who became a woman, and looked good in green hair to boot!

Celes: FFVI The game of my screen name sake must be represented, right? No doubt it shall be! Celes is the first truly torn Squaresoft heroine. Torn by love, by doubt, by fear...she outshines Terra and all the rest with her dialogue and dramatic scenes, including the unrivaled Opera moment. She gave us the first truly sad FF moment too, with the jump off the cliff after Cid dies from too much bad mackerel!

Sueng Mina: Soul Caliber I cant always play MK when I feel like kicking ass, lol, so I play Soul Caliber, and when I play that I choose Ms Mina more than anyone. She is just a cool fun character to play, and I have played the games with her since Soul Edge Arcade. Artistically she is drawn quite well, and her weapon is just cool. I like her, plain and simple.

Princess Toadstool: Mario We all grew up with Mario games, and so I represent the old school era with her, even though she happens to kick butt in the Kart series and SSBM. However, for me, it is choosing her in Mario 2 and flying through all the levels, bopping TryClyde and Clawgrip and lovable Birdo, and tossing bombs all over. :) Good times.

Chun Li: SF Another of my fav characters in another of my fav series. She will only be my 7th choice if the Guru winner selects a male for their pick, which I shall also pick, as it is the right thing to do!

GO KITANA!

Koopa Troopa vs All Things NES

Sage of Board 8's Pick: Buzzy Beetle
Fanbabies Pick: SSBM in another far fetched upset!

Continuing now with the males…

Cid: Final Fantasy Series
It still shocks me that this guy has not yet made it, perhaps this year he gets his due. Appearing in FF games since FFIV, playable in some, story driven in others, but in each an integral part of the complex storyline, he has made for a lot of FF moments and there is no better character to represent FF as a whole entity. Sorry Cloudites…

Dr. Wily: Mega Man Series The charismatic old school baddie, his cute little dancing animations and exaggerated eye blinking made its mark on me as a young gamer, and still holds up today. He did well as a #2 seed in the Villain tourney, now its time he gets to beat up on good guys too. Far cooler than Sigma, who has been in character tourneys, Wily gets the nod from the Sage.

SubZero: Mortal Kombat Series Kitana is my MK girl, no question, but Subbie is my guy, at least in the nominations...only cause he has the best shot of getting MK represented. Do I ever play him? Not really, cause freezing is for newbies learning the MK ropes, but he is one of the popular characters, and Scorpion already had some chances, so bring in the cold one!

Palmer: FFVII Best. Joke Boss. Ever. Period. The fight with fat man Palmer is hilarious…his butt jiggles to the ‘Still More Fighting’ boss music, and the way the battle ends is priceless. Laughed a good while the first time I saw that when I saw it back in 1997, and it still elicits a chuckle today. Even the CATS army knows Palmer would be a more worthwhile piece of fodder, and certainly a fatter one!

Fulgore: Killer Instinct Series This one has sentimental value to me…I kicked so many kids’ asses with this guy back in the arcade days, and he is a cool robot to boot, way cooler than little Robo from a certain overworshipped RPG… ULTRA COMBO!

Vega: Street Fighter Series My personal fav when it comes to Street Fighter, and he would look good in the pics for the battles. Ryu needs to step aside to give the popular Vega a shot.

Locke: FFVI The unlikely hero of FFVI…He will only be my 7th choice if the Guru winner selects a female for their pick, which I shall also pick, as it is the right thing to do!

GO KITANA!
