Well, he wasn't particularly important in Final Fantasy
VII, no, but the fact that he was playable and had a story dedicated to
him in the game puts him on par with the barely seen Zelda/Ganondorf.
Something like Final Fantasy VII, though, is just going to produce
stronger characters than any other single entity. Twilight Princess
does not look like it'll do much more than boost the current set of
characters. I would heavily doubt any new Zelda character being worth

Well, he is one of the most appealing characters in FF7, and on an FAQ
site that tells you how to get him, he doesn't need to have the game

Why would you take him over all these characters before Twilight
Princess? It isn't as though he's going to increase in strength without
it. Though I do think he has a shot actually going up pretty high if
delivers on their promises with Ganon in Twilight Princess, even moreso
if he actually "wins" the game. Well, as I said, I'd only take him over Snake and all the other non-NNers. Of course, I wasn't taking any KH2/DoC/NSMB boosts into consideration when I said that, so Squall, Bowser, and Vincent might be questionable. --- Pity for the guilty is treason to the innocent. |

Midna won't be fodder. If she flops hard, I can see her floor being
around Kratos Aurion, and her ceiling would be somewhere around Frog. Why do people think Midna is awesome?! She's a little green thing.... Giant hand, playable character, Majora's Mask. Game, Set, and Match. --- Pity for the guilty is treason to the innocent. |

I mean, really, dos anyone believe that Link actually deserves to be the uncontested favorite in the character contest from now until god knows when (if he ever slips)? I love me some (2D) Zelda, and I've always had a spot for Link (I once named a pet after him) in my heart, but I'm just not inclines to believe he is the best of characeters by any means. Don't forget that Zelda is far less character based than the Final
Fantasy games and the like. Naturally a non-main FF character, at least

Yes, games that are inherently more character-driven are more likely to
put popular characters into the contest. Of course, that doesn't always
matter, but that's why a character who's only been in one game can beat

Character design and appeal count, though. The difference between
Sephiroth and Ganondorf is a ****ing canyon. Sephy's stronger no matter
how you slice it, he can resist SFF from his main character even on his
worst day, et cetera. Midna has nothing
going for her from where I'm standing -- she looks STUPID. While I'm
not suggesting she'll be anywhere near a Tingle or anything (and
honestly, how many people would you expect Tingle to beat?), she won't
be anything impressive. Put her up against Gordon Freeman and she'll probably crumble. It's hard to say until the game comes out, but the suggestion of her gaining any notable strength seems strange to me. At least people talking up Raiden have his badass-incarnate display in the MGS4 trailer. --- Do not kill. Do not rape. Do not steal. These are principles which every man of every faith can embrace. Yikes, uh...Metroid getting stomped THIS bad is, like, bad...I mean, really, it's really bad...ouch. FF's still going to win it all though, heh. How do people feel about a Metroid/MMX match? | I think Ceej needs to change the rules and let previously unqualified characters in the bracket. Let fictional characters in who starred in major games, like Darth Vader for example. Let anime characters with deep roots to videogames in. This is still an RPG heavy site so game-only characters will still have an edge. But the character battle badly needs infusion of new bloods to make it exciting... |

Funny, Gordon Freeman's actually stronger than Kratos Aurion. You said Aurion was her floor. I didn't say Freeman was Midna's floor, if anything I think it's closer to her ceiling. And how can you say that Midna looks stupid? She has one of the best character designs I've ever seen, certainly better than the vast majority of contest characters. The only ones who can really compare are Zero and Shadow. Shadow is "the black Sonic", Zero is a robot with a beam sword. Midna looks halfway deformed. I don't even like looking at her, and her inclusion is one of the things I am NOT looking forward to most with the release of Twilight Princess. --- Do not kill. Do not rape. Do not steal. I have a feeling that outside characters would bomb. Darth Vader is
pure awesomeness, but he's going against Sephiroth on his home
territory. There are only a few characters I could see breaking the

hmm... let's get some thoughts on percentages for this round. I feel
they're completely unpredictable, and that this one was the most
