I think Mario/Crono III was an anomoly as there was so much hype around
Mario "screwing" Crono (or whatever) that people voted for Crono just

I have no interest in getting involved in this Samus>Mario debate
(there's a reason I ignored it the first time around, it cannot be
reasonably justified), but who can know how Samus/Mario would've gone a
year before? All we have is pure speculation. Mario might've been able
to beat Samus in 2K4, yet it's clear enough that Mario wasn't at his

I definitely think the original Smash would be successful in another
Games Contest. Doubt I'm in the majority with that opinion, though. Agreed. I don't see how anyone can think that adding or removing "Melee" from the name would change the performance more than a slight bit. You seriously think the original SSB could take out Division 128?
Excuse me while I laugh. Voters aren't stupid, removing a 'I' from
FFVII means that it gets weaker -- a LOT weaker. SSB would be strong,

bit. You mean besides common sense? Liquid Snake is going to be just as strong as Solid Snake. After all, the names are similar! SSBM and SSB share fanbases, but that fanbase vastly prefers SSBM. Yawn. There goes this contest's shot at being interesting. Looks like
this one's gonna be down with 2004 and Sp2005 as the "Boring" Contests.
I'll leave it up to someone else to decide what order they all go in.

I think 2004 was just a good year for Chrono Trigger. The game makes it
to the finals, and both Crono and Frog do really well in the character

It's the same old wild SSB underestimation rearing it's head again. This is not something worth going in depth over, but 1) How many people really even notice the "Melee" part of the entry name, 2) It took SSBM a long time to pass SSB in sales, SSB was immensely successful. In a direct matchup, with SFF, who could know how it goes? I think 2004 was just a good year for Chrono Trigger. The game makes

character battle. Yet CT was untested, and looking at the list it *should* have made it as far as it did (plus CT/LttP could have really gone either way). And Magus 2k4 was just trying to tell us that he was overrated against Luca Blight before he ran into Crono, while Frog only won his nailbiters thanks to board support and his opponents' weakness. He looks good because of Solid ****, Magus looks good because we love adjustments. Crono I'll give you, but he didn't look *too* different in 2k5. --- Do not kill. Do not rape. Do not steal. Looks like this one's gonna be down with 2004 and Sp2005 as the "Boring" Contests. I think Zelda/Final Fantasy will singlehandedly elevate this contest above those other two. Even if FF wins with 55% or something, the final vote count will be the stuff of legend. Also, I find that SC2K4 gets more than its fair share of hate. Sure, there were a lot of crappy SFF matches, but Sora taking his fourpack was unpredictable, and Frog's run was the most entertaining thing we've ever seen behind Starcraft. --- Watch and you'll see... someday I'll be... part of your WOOOOOOOOORLD!!! |

I'm thinking SMB/SSB. Metroid seems much weaker than SSB, and you're
not going to get that much SFF when you're already that weak and your
opponent is that strong. In a direct matchup, with SFF, who could know how it goes?
