Yeah, I hate this match. It looked interesting when I woke up, but now it's over. All that's left is to sort through the massive amount of whining and blind fanboyism on both sides, like in WC/GTA.

I don't get why people can't understand the simple concept of why we had a day vote today. Halo may indeed have had a stronger day vote. KH was simply stronger.

If Halo is down 56/44 when the day vote comes into play, even if it has a 3% swing(It doesn't. It was closer to 2%) we won't see a real dayvote per say.

On the contrary, KH was never down farther than 51.5/48.5, and is on pace for a 51/49 turnaround(minimum). This 2.5% turnaround is in the same vicinity, but it was stronger overall.

Final point is: The reason we haven't had day/night voter swings until today is that not all the right conditions have to necessary:

1. There has to be a dayvote swing.
2. That day vote swing has to be within the percentage of the night vote lead.

Its pretty basic and probably doesn't even warrant stating, but I'm surprised at people who still don't get it.

Yep, it's over. All Castlevania has is a few hours near the end, and that's it. It probably won't even be enough to counter what KH has left of day vote.

BTW Castlevania won an update, a comeback would be nice to see ^_^

catching up, but this was hysterical:
This is why the Captain won't let the Plan succeed! What kind of plan is so needlessly complicated? A plan should be simple and easy to remember!

Like, say, beat Castlevania! Sounds like a good plan to me! And you're never left in doubt as to whether it worked or not!

I have KH > MG in my bracket, even though I don't think it will happen now.

Same here. But it could still be fun. All we have to do is pretend Fire Emblem is still really weak (it did get doubled by FFTA, right?) Harvest Moon is an enormous sleeper strong series, and there ya go.

Well, can't say I'm upset that Castlevania lost. I love both series and all, but with the huge Aria of Sorrow/Dawn of Sorrow fan that I am, Castlevania had my support in this match. I definitely will not be jumping on the bandwagon for Kingdom Hearts > Metal Gear. I took Metal Gear to win the division without a second thought. I debate on whether or not KH or Halo could make it close (55-45), but that's it. I guess Metal Gear's performance on Fire Emblem has people thinking it is vulnerable to today's winner. Not happening.
BeTheMan | Posted 7/21/2006 1:07:15 PM | message detail
There's still one thing worth watching here. This match is slightly ahead of Zelda/MMX's vote pace, so it might have a shot at hitting the 130,000 mark.

Does anyone else find it odd the amount of controversy todays' results have induced among B8? It seems as though there are at least twice as many of the "omg such and such is losing/winning" topics than in any of the previous matches.

I was under the impression that the majority of B8 had KH or Halo anyways. Especially considering only 30% of the entries had CV beating Halo. I mean, its a pretty irrelevent match if you ask me. I think most of us can agree that neither CV nor KH stand much of a chance against MGS. Especially with that 14 minute trailer for MGS4 pushing the hype for this franchise to previously unreached levels.

BTW, if this has been mentioned already just ignore it. Can you really blame me for not wanting to read through 450+ posts to make sure?

I'm actually surprised about the amount of controversy it's caused in favor of Castlevania. Despite most people here having Kingdom Hearts, it seems like the majority wanted Castlevania to win. I love Kingdom Hearts, and this is an awesome result, but you'd think super smash brothers lost the way people are unhappy about it.

eh, we aren't just drones that cheer for our brackets. we also like to see upsets and you really can't argue that Castlevania is the more established series. I'd say it's completely even on the board. the KH cheering is bad and the CV whining is equally bad. today's just one of those days where I'll barracade myself in the stats topic away from the rest of the nonsense.

It might be the more established series, but that doesn't mean Kingdom Hearts can't be better than it, even as a series, in three games. This isn't a more established series contest, and as someone who admittedly does love KH (and admittedly hasn't played castlevania) I think the games are good enough to merit a win over a lot of other series.

yeah, that's exactly how I feel. Castlevania feels like the only chance for a real, significant upset, and it sure looked possible. like Ulti said, it sucks when the day vote just overwhelms an opponent.

oh I have no problem with people voting for Kingdom Hearts. people seem to like it quite a bit. I'm just saying that the whining is, in a way, justified. KH is barely a series at this point while Castlevania's got a zillion games.

On a votal note, this match is almost exactly even with Legend of Zelda/Mega Man X (more specifically, it's 5 votes ahead), so we're looking at a match that could potentially break 130k (Zelda/MMX was 23 votes short).

Yeah, Sora actually got linked during his match with Snake. It doesn't really help. <.<

Hmm, as soon as I leave, it looks like KH made the move I was talking about. Too bad it was such an OVERWHELMING one. I don't get why KH is being said to 'impress', though. We have no idea how strong any of these guys are, but as from the beginning I'd be inclined to say "not very strong at all." I'll give KH and CV the benefit of the doubt since they're so far above Halo (nicely done, KH2!), but I've insisted that Halo and KH were chumps from the beginning. I just thought that KH was the bigger chump, and there I was wrong -- having the biggest game on the site at this time seemed to really help it out.

Of course this match would have made me feel GREAT about Sonic/SSB if Castlevania had won, but Sonic's not out of this yet. SSB is stronger than KH, sure, but I've always viewed Sonic as a LOT stronger than Castlevania. I mean, c'mon, people are being silly here...It's Freaking Sonic!, for chrissakes. HaRRicH's analysis is the funniest of all, as it seems like a carbon-copy of why Mario Kart was supposed to beat Mega Man. Not that there's anything wrong with that, naturally. But people seem to be counting Sonic out, and while I doubt him I'm not going to be doing something like that.

It'll get a bigger percentage swing, seeing as how bad MG is with the day vote and how good KH is with it, but Metal Gear will be up by too much for it to matter. KH will be hard-pressed to win a single update.

For me, that's why its impressive. Kingdom Hearts went from being ranked below Halo to beating a series that beat Halo with 55%. I think it's impressive simply because KH is a small series and since it made up the difference and then more on Halo. (possibly, of course, we don't really know the games to series, but whatever.) Also, this is exciting for Sora in the sum...fall. I think this must show Kingdom Hearts II had a very significant effect, and now we get to wonder where he'll place.

Sonic will dispatch SSBM easier than KH did today with CV. Truth be told, I was more worried about this because of KH's wild voting swings than I am about the consistent Sonic, who will make a statement Sunday and set up the legendary match I have waited years for to settle the battle of the early 90's: NES vs Genesis... Mario vs Sonic... Nintendo vs Sega... for old gamers like me, thats what its all about. Course most of the fans of this website were in preschool during these console/mascot wars.

And Sonic's win wll break more perfects than KH's today...take that to the bank kiddies. :) :) But we will be under 200 today, as I am guessing 1/3 of them took CV to upset both Halo and KH...

Midnight EST is the best time of day during these polls!
