heh, reminds me of Leon's same orphanage test a few months ago. for some reason, only infamous spoilers that everyone knows get anto-modded.

I am, although I thought the page also revealed the identity of the protagonist as well. Upon closer inspection, it does not, but I still hear it bandied about elsewhere like it's nothing major.

I know, and I hate that (though have been guilty of it from time to time).

Mallow has much more depth (I feel like hitting myself after saying that)

Indeed.

...What?! Mallow isn't really a tadpole?! I'M SHOCKED!

Also I would like to say that THE Spoiler in KOTOR was easily one of the best molded plot twists in gaming history. Because you really dont see it coming, but if you go back and play it again you can tell there are definite hints at it.

Man, SMRPG brings me back. Mostly because it was my first RPG and I ended up dying on Croco, of all things. Around 20 times or so. Probably still my most hated fight, just because of my humiliation.

Same here to both points.

...I blame it on having no idea how to play RPGs. Of course, I also got killed by Guard Scorpion in FFVII (my second RPG) because I actually took what Barret said literally and wondered why I couldn't survive.

Pants saves everyone from humiliation. That applies to real life as well as SMRPG.

As for today's match, from when I made that analysis for the Crew and that post during FE/SH...I didn't actually expect FE to outdo SC like this, though it's still early in the night. I thought it'd do well, but damn.

I'm sure somebody's already asked...but, if we saw FE versus SC, who do you take?

Fire Emblem or Harvest Moon, who wins...

1st RPG: SMRPG
2nd RPG: FFVII
3rd RPG: FFVIII
4th RPG: FFIX
5th RPG: FFVI
6th RPG: FFV
7th RPG: FFIV
8th RPG: FF1

Then, uh...some Tales games, Chrono Cross, a bit of Xenogears, um...Brave Fencer Musashi if you count it (which you shouldn't), and then a bunch of emulation (hello CT, Earthbound, and many others!). Skies of Arcadia: Legends, recently. Oh, and of course Pokemon has always been there, but it never springs to mind.

lol this isn't very stats discussion oriented

If I had to rank the fodder in this contest, I'd go like such:

Soul Calibur
Fire Emblem (I don't care!)
Devil May Cry? (dunno)
Dragon Quest
Suikoden
Harvest Moon
Madden
Shadow Hearts

Pick it up -- maybe throw it, even -- and, say it was lightning...suddenly, there are random lightning strikes for afew seconds. With heal, have like a small haze that heals people while they're in it, and have people fight for it while it lasts.

You could do various things with it.

Seems like it'd work better in an ARPG, since then you'd get to manipulate distances with it.

To be honest, I have to say that the materia system is perfect (though the materia themselves could have been done better). They grow at a fair rate, and should the developers have taken the time they could have done some increadibly cool stuff with it. Linked slots could have been able to do a whole hell of a lot of cool comboing.

I don't care how ff topic it is; this is the best stats topic in a long while. I know it's probably too late to throw in my opinion on CT and kotor, but meh. To this day I stand by the fact that kotor has the best voice acting in any video game to date. Aside from that, your party was just awesome. No party that includes a psychotic killer assassin droid, a badass mandalorian mercenary, a bitter old man jedi, and, oh yes even a wookie can't go wrong. Plus you can wield duel light sabres. >_> Aside from that the plot just felt so epic at times, and still allowed you to sink to the lowest common denominator of giving death threats to and stealing from widows who are struggling to put food on the table for their family. >_>

CT is a perfect example of why rpg's don't need the best told story in the world, or even a deep plot to be good. The game was just a pleasure to play through, and the characters were highly likable even though just about none of it had any real depth. Most games that try to add in something different that separate them from other games tend to come off as gimmicky, but time travel was an integral part of CT. Not only was it entirely non-gimmicky, it was what made CT such a fun game to play through. An interesting battle system didn't hurt either.

Just my two cents for all of you who care. That's right, all zero of you.

On another note, I'm currently listening to The Mars Volta's new album Amputechture, and holy crap does it kick ass. By the time I'm done with it, I might rank it ahead of their Deloused in the Comatorium album, which is is already one of my favourite albums of all time. Just thought I'd throw that out there, just because.
