hmm... I'll bring up a question: Xenogears-Gold today, who wins and by how much? a similar question: how much does Pokemon being a series help as compared to others? would you attribute Pokemon's "increase" to it being a much stronger as a series than it is individually or just Pokemon hate dying down? --- xyzzy I lost a sig bet to War13104. No way Xenogears loses that match, much like no way Vivi loses to DK today in my mind. The performances are just too decisive. Is Pokemon helped at all by the TV show? It's technically part of what
I'd consider the "Pokemon series" (even if it isn't a game) and it's
popular enough that it can't hurt Pokemon in this contest (even if Ash
Ketchum is the worst protagonist known to man). Of course, that sort of analysis just makes Castlevania over Halo weirder but sort of explains the margin of victory in MM>MK (NT Warrior for the win!) |

We've seen roughly comparable %age shifts between the same opponents before. Mario/Crono Mario/Cloud Link/Cloud Mega Man/Snake And then there are some that I think would have pretty big percentage shifts if reheld today. Kirby/Alucard Kirby/Jill Ganondorf/Magus Master Chief/Felix Never say too decisive. If we had more repetitive matches (no, I'm not saying we should!) So how is Pokemon doing so well right now, when all contests before
this one point to Metroid as a series being pretty high tier (near
Metal Gear) and Pokemon being pretty darn low? Is there something I

FF didn't exactly disappoint in its round 1 match votal-wise. Mega Man
and MMX should be similar, so I guess we can gauge the vote total

DID. And here it is, holding its own in what was expected to be a SFF
nightmare. Sure, Metroid is still creamed corn next round, but it looks

"Is there something I missed here?" No Metroid game showed itself to legitimately be on MGS's level, and the only thing indicating that is the massive SFF it suffered against FF7. MGS2 > MGS1 should have been everyone's clue, but hindsight is 20/20. Pokemon is the opposite, it looked like it was on par with some real losers because its oponnent, Xenogears, was SFF'd.
