I really think that from now on, we should start a new table for
contest stats related to votals. The poll start time obviously
increases votes dramatically, as well as the new poll location. We're
looking at high vote totals in matches like SH/Fire Emblem, for
christ's sake. --- http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs9/genmessage.php?board=7&topic=22242738 Sign plz I admire MYC, for she is the pinnacle of human wit, poise, and beauty. |

I really think that from now on, we should start a new table for
contest stats related to votals. The poll start time obviously
increases votes dramatically, as well as the new poll location. the second part is true; the first, not so much. the changing of the poll time isn't going to magically bring 20,000 people to vote. let's see here... http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=2414 for a regular old non-contest poll that started at 3am, it got almost 90k votes. some contest matches last year didn't get that. it's all about the poll position. --- xyzzy I lost a sig bet to War13104. Match 18 - Pokemon vs Metroid Well, the less said about the first round matches for these two, the better. Pokemon owned me, ending up with very nearly a doubling against what can only be a very weak Star Ocean. Metroid finished above 70% against Kirby, possibly with a hint of SFF, possibly people recognising that Kirby doesn't have that many strong games, in any case, it did a bit better than most people expected. If there was SFF present, it can only spell doom for Pokemon. I really hope this is a massive SFF beatdown of epic proportions, and that Pokemon is dispatched from this contest in the funniest of fashions. Having said that, it'll probably be a lame 65/35 or something like that. Bracket says: Metroid Favourites bracket says: Metroid Vote says: Metroid Prediction: Metroid with 66.62% Fun fact of the day: After having his guru bracket survive right until the penultimate match in summer 2005 (pesky Crono), jonthomson was the first out this time around. Pokemowned? I think so. --- Jon Thomson - CATS, Jay Solano, Ridley, Scorpion, Alien Hominid, Duke Nukem, The Prince, Johnny Rocketfingers, two TBA |

...Is a blowout like this going to be the third highest scoring match of all time? That is the one downside of higher votals. Mario/Cloud deserves to be third a whole lot more than this match. The fact that a match from 2002 has held on to third this long is pretty amazing (and a testiment to how crazy that match was). --- Nominate Aeris for SC2k6 |

*COMPARISONS GAME- (3) Pokemon vs. (2) Metroid* Sales Pokemon has sold more than everything except Mario. GG, Metroid. Match XVIII: (3) Pokemon vs. (2) Metroid Past Matches Pokemon Defeated Star Ocean, 65.74% - 34.26% Metroid Defeated Kirby, 70.57% - 29.43% Analysis: After what the board made out to be a close match, Pokemon destroyed Star Ocean with ease setting up a small bandwagon right after the match for an upset today. Metroid beaten a fellow Nintendo series, SFF it to the ground. As much as I would love for an upset Pokemon will lose to Metroid and will suffer SFF from it just like Kirby did. Will Pokemon get beaten worse than Kirby did? In a direct match-up I would pick Kirby to beat Pokemon, but I think Pokemon will out do Kirby against Metroid but just barely. Pokemon is more known than Kirby, but it is one of the only series that gets a noticeable amount of anti-votes. Even though they may have dropped off over the past few years they are still there. I have to feel sorry for Pokemon though ever since 2k3 (and 2k2 because of Mario/Cloud) it has always been SFF and in this contest it will receive double SFF, one from this match and another in LoZ/Metroid. charmander6000’s Bracket: Metroid over Pokemon charmander6000’s Prediction: Metroid wins, 69.17% - 30.73% --- "I was trying to escape.
