Ehh, I'm not so sure I'd take Metroid over Mega Man. I don't think
there's any doubt that Samus is MUCH bigger than Metroid, for whatever
the reason. I called for Metroid to be one of the most overrated series
before the contest began. It's just too bad it didn't get a draw where

I would never give Metroid a shot in hell at MM or Sonic, even before
this. I knew Samus was more popular only because of SSB to begin with,
and her games don't seem to get the same love. MMX/Metroid is a much,

eh, 3 people actually did take Pokemon in the Oracle Challenge. i gotta admit, though. i really thought that Pokemon would be on the level of Kirby and that Metroid was held in much higher regard. man. aside from SMB, i've always felt that Metroid was the second highest pinnacle of platform series. --- "In America, first you get the sugar, then you get the power, then you get the women...." - Homer Simpson |

There were plenty of people out there who I saw adamently defending
Pokemon's chance at victory in this match, I sincerely doubt it was
because of how much the board thought this would be a cookie-cutter

actually, a lot of people called the series overrated, to the point
where I felt it was underrated. I definitely would have taken GTA or
Metal Gear and probably Sonic over Metroid, but I don't think it'd lose
to the Mega Man X's of the world. I'll be curious to see how Metroid
does on Zelda - assuming it wins here, of course. Metroid has arguably
more overlap with Zelda than MMX does, yet I'd expect it to score

Now, if Pokemon could actually pull off some semblance of a day vote
shift, we'd have something really interesting on our hands (because I
doubt Metroid gets much of one). However, looking at its percentage
against Star Ocean, hardly what appears to be a day vote beast, the

Well, the thing is...Link to the Past scored a tripling on Super
Metroid, which could arguably be the strongest game. Ocarina of Time
would undoubtedly do at least a little better. Seeing Zelda push 80% against Metroid wouldn't surprise me. If Metroid does well against Zelda (well = 20%+), I'd attribute most of
it to the Prime games, since I have a feeling they share the least

I think Prime > Super here on GF. it's newer and sold quite a bit
more. I wouldn't be completely shocked if Zelda gets over 80% or
anything, but I think Metroid has enough of a core audience to get 20%.

Indeed, the only game I could see getting considerable overlap on Prime
-- Wind Waker -- didn't SFF it at all. So Metroid's going to be relying
on that hard come next round, much like MMX had to rely on the

Kirby as a series having very little strength really shouldn't be a
surprise. I wouldn't even expect Kirby Super Star to do that well, and
there's no way any of his other games come anywhere close to 20% on

Well, I can take comfort in one thing. Everything that HM could have
possibly said about Pokemon/Star Ocean, and then Metroid/Pokemon, has
