Voters are certainly not voting for the series as a whole in all respects. The dead weight of the unpopular later Sonic games and unpopular later Mega Man games hasn't been slowing them down much. That's not what I meant at all. I never believed people we're going to say "Wow, FF7 and FF8 are such badass games, but man, I sure do hate that FF9. Diablo? Well, it's cool, nothing special, but at least it doesn't have any sucky games in the series! *Clicks button next to Diablo*" I seriously doubt we're going to see any form of anti-voting series because fans don't particularly like certain games from the series. The whole point is they have multiple games, that many different people have played. If you're going to tell me CV beat Halo because it's older, I'm going to laugh. There's no reason for older series to perform any better than older games, aside from the fact that they have had more of a chance to offer multiple installments into the series, and grow as a franchise. --- Explicit Content Cheer Up Emo Kids |

And more games in a series give it that many more chances to be loved.
Honestly, while most people detest them, Sonic Heroes and Sonic
Spinball alone give Sonic the win over SSB in my eyes. Even if I hated
every other game in the series, those two would be enough to push it
over the top for me. As for this match, all I need is MM2 and MML
(yeah, it's not technically part of the series, but who's going to stop
me?). Okay, show of hands. Who thinks that Mega Man X is stronger than Mega Man now, at least indirectly? --- Commit it to memory. |

Man... I never even though that this match was a debatable one until
this damn board convinced me otherwise. I mean, not like it matters
since I stayed with MM, and my bracket is dead anyway, but it never

That I can't agree with...I always considered MK a legitimate threat. I
wouldn't have been surprised with 55% from the Blue Bomber, but near
60% is kinda pushing it. --- Commit it to memory. |

MK is just tanking here, I was thinking it on equal grounds with Mega
Man (or at least within 55% range of it) simply based on the Mario

But the way that people voted in this contest never struck me with how people portrayed it. I always heard examples like, "I love MK64!" *votes MK* or "I love MM2!" *votes MM* No, no, no, that's not how it works at all for most people. For the knee-jerk reaction vote, it boils down to this: "I love Mario Kart!" *votes MK* "I love Mega Man!" *votes MM* That's how it works...people take all the games into account when formulating their opinion, yes, but it has been formulated LONG before they've even hit the site. It's never as complicated as many would like it to be. It's a series contest. People know what series they like. Not rocket science. --- Commit it to memory. |

I really feel that this site likes RE games more than SF games. In
general, even, and I think RE has rekindled that love more than ever. I
don't mean to sound arrogant, but I would be shocked if SF kept it any

Since no one will read my topic, I'll post it here! Next round we should have a pretty good indicator of how the finals will go down: LoZ gets to trounce over MMX while FF gets to have a field day with MM. Seeing as MM and MMX should carry most of the same fanbase (I'm looking at you SHINE, amongst others) we should be able to gauge the finals pretty accurately.
