I don't see why Diablo would beat Warcraft. WC's had Warcraft III
AND WoW (both massively popular games) since Diablo II was released,
while Diablo itself has had...nothing. --- "Thank you, Mario. But our princess is in another castle." -Toad in Super Mario Bros. |

On Gamefaqs Diablo is more popular than Warcraft though. At least, it seems like it. My perceptions of Blizzard's fanbase is pretty much shot, so whatever --- Kingdom Hearts > Metal Gear. BOOK IT Applekidjosh is warned for ASCII without warning |

At the 1:00 mark, this match has 9717 votes, but it started 15 minutes
late. I'll add what the match had after 45 minutes in parentheses. To
compare with other matches at the same time: Zelda/Civilization - 10256 (8163) Castlevania/Halo - 11486 (9168) GTA/Warcraft - 12400 (10005) SSB/DQ - 12051 (9655) --- SC2K6 Nominations: Squall, Roxas, Serge, Seifer, Laguna, The Prince of Persia, Nightmare, Sub-Zero, Captain Falcon, Raiden |
ChichiriMuyo | Posted 7/13/2006 10:03:11 PM | message detail |
If Diablo 2 ~ StarCraft (as per the top 100) and Diablo 2 = Diablo
series (a fair guess) then FF (series) gets to damn near quarduple FF7.
Assuming I did my math right. Ya know, that sounds about right... --- Take a hike, and don't forget the trail mix *****. Hijack - MC Chris Detective in Sir Chris' Police |

And for the curious, Final Fantasy's percentage on that five minute update was 87.25%. Diablo got a whopping 108 votes. --- SC2K6 Nominations: Squall, Roxas, Serge, Seifer, Laguna, The Prince of Persia, Nightmare, Sub-Zero, Captain Falcon, Raiden |
Karma Hunter | Posted 7/13/2006 10:04:10 PM | message detail |
Okay, after all that arguing over whether FF could make the tripling, it is currently, uh... ...ah, yes, quintupling Diablo. Yeah...yeah... --- Commit it to memory. |

That was an 86.19% update for Final Fantasy. I'm curious to see if it can keep this up during the day. --- SC2K6 Nominations: Squall, Roxas, Serge, Seifer, Laguna, The Prince of Persia, Nightmare, Sub-Zero, Captain Falcon, Raiden |

They're as different as you can possibly get without changing genre entirely. Uh, isn't D2 just D1 with skill trees and non-random quests? |

God, I so hope FF breaks 85% and keep it above that throughout the whole match.. --- Eagerly awaiting Final Fantasy XII! |

Actually, despite the oddities we've faced in this contest, Diablo has
in the past proven itself to be a night game. I think FF7 might do this
wire-to-wire. --- Take a hike, and don't forget the trail mix *****. Hijack - MC Chris Detective in Sir Chris' Police |
LoopZoopTheBest | Posted 7/13/2006 10:08:45 PM | message detail |
IIRC, Diablo was at his best during the day and early afternoon, hence
the infamous "after school vote" slogan during his matches (especially
against M. Bison, where that vote kicked in like clockwork). Of course,
we're in the summer now, so who knows just how things will play out... --- Watch and you'll see... someday I'll be... part of your WOOOOOOOOORLD!!! |
Karma Hunter | Posted 7/13/2006 10:08:55 PM | message detail |
I thought Diablo was the Blizzard oddity in that it seemed to do better
during the day...then again, it did face such 'beasts' as Kefka and M.
Bison... --- Commit it to memory. |

"Uh, isn't D2 just D1 with skill trees and non-random quests?" There severe changes to the way the game works. Instead it goes down as quickly as a pack of Fetishes. ...what? Man, this match is crazy. FF is totally outperforming every expectation I had of it. In reality, it's not an "after school" vote. That's just what we called
it. The patterns don't really change whether school's in session or not. --- SC2K6 Nominations: Squall, Roxas, Serge, Seifer, Laguna, The Prince of Persia, Nightmare, Sub-Zero, Captain Falcon, Raiden |

86.24% for Final Fantasy there. Diablo only got 109 votes. --- SC2K6 Nominations: Squall, Roxas, Serge, Seifer, Laguna, The Prince of Persia, Nightmare, Sub-Zero, Captain Falcon, Raiden |

This leaves, at the very maximum, four matches left with any potential at all. They are: 1. Mega Man/Mario Kart 2. Castlevania/Kingdom Hearts 3. Super Smash Bros./Sonic the Hedgehog 4. Resident Evil/Street Fighter Seems a little skimp, but about a zillion times better than last year's 32-entrant contest. Also, I realize most people figured FF/Zelda wouldn't be particularly thrilling (outside of a massive vote total), but after Zelda's 90%, people started to wonder. They can kinda stop that now. --- Watch and you'll see... someday I'll be... part of your WOOOOOOOOORLD!!! |

The fun thing is imagining the X-Stats. FF in a world of its own, then
Zelda and Mario... around... somewhere, and clocking in in fourth
place, Metal Gear with 25%. --- Mario's not fun btw and only sells on nostalgia. I mean, you're just walking from one side of a level to the other at a tenth of Sonic's speed... -vego |
