The thing I cant understand is almost everyone agrees that MGS is
underrated in that contest. It got SFFd to some extent by FF. Even
bringing MGS above MGS 2, you have two MGS games with pretty distinct
fanbases behind Vice City, where GTA is a series where from game to
game the fanbases are less distinct. Add MGS 3 on top of that with its
only distinct fanbase and I fail to see how anyone thought GTA would
even have a chance in a matchup againist MGS. Here's an older post concerning this idea: "I still can't believe that everyone here thinks that MGS is stronger than GTA. Nothing on this site points to that besides MGS placing a measly 3 spots higher than GTA:SA. Yeah, those GotY polls have come back to bite us a couple of times. I
put less stock in MK: DS than ever, and if Resident Evil were going up
more intimidating competition I'd be worried. --- Commit it to memory. |

Actually, I absolutely loathe SSBM (and I'm far from alone) because of how they changed the gameplay (and, oddly enough, it's being changed back for Brawl as far as I understand) yet I loved SSB. I'd vote for the series based off of the original or against it based off of Melee. Resident Evil going to have the Goldeneye advantage most likely. Not
really a Nintendo series, but Nintendo fans will vote for it when its

*points to self* ...*and mnm, and yo, and tranny* I'm not going down alone!! Hey, I said GTA would beat Metal Gear! I don't think I ever said it would be the fourth strongest series! Maybe I argued that for the x-stats, but I would never take GTA over SSB (remember that SSB would likely be SFF'd to the ground by SMB). None, but I know people who never played FE, who voted Fire Emblem over
SH just because it was Nintendo. I say if you talk to those diehard
Nintendo fans who havent played FE, there will be a similiar occurance.
I shouldnt have made it seem like thats where all its strength comes
from. But I think it has more of an effect than the SSB advantage for

I never said that WC was the fourth strongest series, I said that WC
had the fourth best chances of winning the whole thing. god knows that
everything else has a 0% chance of winning the entire contest, so WC's
rallying power is the only thing that stands a chance. would WC beat

Good to know. But seriously, two post in row from you were things that
can't possibly be proven. At best you have anecdotal evidence and wild
speculation. As far as RE taking votes from the Nintendo side... that just doesn't make sense. Sure, there were a few RE games on the 'cube, they all did pretty badly and they all would have done much better on the PS2. That's where the RE fanbase has made their home, and they made that clear when they practically forced Capcom's hand in the whole RE4 port deal (because the RE fans weren't jumping ship to GC like expected). --- Take a hike, and don't forget the trail mix *****. I dont think you really understand the minds of the Nintendo zealots
work. Their number one concern isnt what game is better, its wheter the
game has appeared for a Nintendo system or not. They hate Halo, they
hate GTA, they hate DMC unless one gets ported and then they love it.
Ive been on enough Nintendo boards to know this happens. Now how many
of these zealots vote in this contest can be debated, but thats the way
they think. Put Goldeneye on the PS with the same sales and its do
nearly as well in a Games contest. I think RE4 being on Gamecube and
being THE GAME for Gamecube after MK:DD helps it. --- Where am I? |

No but its transitive. It was SSB:M, then Sunshine, then Metroid Prime,
then Wind Waker, then Double Dash, then Resident Evil 4. You would be
shocked of the diehard anger that these zealots had at the IGN review
of Double Dash BEFORE THEY EVEN PLAYED IT. It was ridiculous. --- Where am I? |
