1360/43 = 32 votes per 5 minute update to win. I don't know where this 15-16 is coming from.

Raiden is still [!!] nominations short!

yeah, it could be close.

Reminds me of Jill/Ryu...the second time. Her votes needed per update killed her until the last hour, and then she exploded to lose by so little. One of my favorite matches, that one.

Yeah, if GTA gets a sudden boost at the end it has a shot. And really, if it had an extra hour to do it at this rate it'd win. It loosk a LOT like Kefka/Vercetti, and as I mentioned last night Vercetti didn't take the lead in that match until 9:40.

Thanks for being such a tease, GTA. You suck.

Im just not seeing the pattern that made the Kefka cheating obvious. That doesnt mean it doesnt exist, but if it does its more well hidden.
---
Where am I?
Karma Hunter | Posted 7/11/2006 5:34:20 PM | message detail
If Kefka/Vercetti were on five-minute updates, the pattern would have been MUCH less apparent. It's the nature of live-updating that made that one so obvious, and honestly, many still didn't catch it/believe it.
---
Commit it to memory.
LeonhartForever | Posted 7/11/2006 5:34:31 PM | message detail
You really need insta-updates to see the cheating in Kefka/Vercetti.

ChichiriMuyo | Posted 7/11/2006 5:35:14 PM | message detail
*shrugs*

If I were going to cheat, lord knows I'd have learned from my predecessor's mistakes. A much better job could have been done to hide the cheating from us. Hiding it from Ceej though... that might be harder.

"It's the nature of live-updating that made that one so obvious"

Yeah, everyone was talking about 'barriers' the whole time, and we wouldn't have ever seen that with 5 minute updates.

The chances of it doing that every update 'til the end is rather slim, though. Of course, as the night stretches on it might start taking even bigger chunks than that back... God I love close matches.

Everybody should have been well aware that Blizzard games tend to get massive rallying support from battlenet. It won't have much of an impact against the bigger series, but against something like GTA it's looking to be just enough, at least at this point. I really don't care which one wins at this point, since I really hate WoW and never liked GTA either.

How says this has anything to do with rallying? There isn't any evidence to say all that much was done in that regard. I'm sure there was some, but I'd be willing to bet most of the voters are already visitors of this site.

With two and a half hours remaining, this match has already surpassed Mario/Madden and is now our 11th most highly voted match of all-time.

It's only about 700 votes away from beating out Mega Man/Snake 2003 for 10th.

It looks like it is on track to be the 4th largest vote total ever. I don't think it can make it to the top three, but 4th is quite attainable.

Not accusing anything of cheating, but this match shows all the classic examples of it. Massive vote spikes from both sides, plus multiple people already axed for doing it. The question is whether or not cheating alone decides the match.

Maybe if I clap my hands over my ears and sing a happy song, all the doubt will fade away...

Nope, it's not working. Oh well. I wonder if this will be the only match in this contest has that has less than 2% vote differential (e.g. 51/49 or closer)...

And on which side. Didn't the people who were axed for it vote stuff for GTA, not WC?

Just passed 120,000 votes with 2 hours to go, and WC is still up by 1300. GTA would need a miracle and the spirit of Mario 2k3 to pull this one off.

We have now hit 120,000 total votes. We haven't reached this territory in nearly two years. Even Link/Cloud didn't get this high last year. It's now 8th all-time.

Well, Mario's going to draw in tons of votes simply because nearly everybody who comes here can vote for it, and if Warcraft rallying is actually worth something, then we could go quite high.

This is not a match I would expect to be the 8th highest of all-time. That said, it does give me plenty of confidence that Link/Cloud on steroids (Zelda/FF) is going to be setting some records.
