Indeed, this match makes thing look very good for Castlevania.

It's lucky Halo, KH and Soul Calibur are all linked via the game contest, else this would've sounded completely stupid.

Looks like this division could still have a few surprises.

Although after thinking about it some more, I have a feeling Fire Emblem is going to win by alot more than we are giving it credit to.

How do we know for sure that SC didn't just fluke against KH or something?

I mean, this would make KH seem insanely bad.

I'm just saying that kh being this weak seems really unlikely. SC seems to be rebounding though, soit might look more realistic by the end of things, especially given the probability of MG having a crappy day vote.

just for kicks, i took 10,000 votes away from Starcraft's match against SSBM to bring the vote totals down to 87630, which is comparable to the vote totals of FF7 vs. SSBM and CT vs. SMB3. that would've given Starcraft 43.99% aginst SSBM.

that would change unadjusted x-stats to look like this:

7. SSBM =37.57%
8. FFX = 36.86%
9. GTA: VC = 34.91%
10. Legend of Zelda = 34.49%
11. Super Mario World = 34.24%
12. Starcraft = 33.05%
13. Zelda: Wind Waker = 32.98%???
14. Halo = 32.94%????
15. Metal Gear Solid 2 = 32.52%
16. Final Fantasy = 32.24%
17. Kingdom Hearts = 30.69%
18. Soul Calibur = 30.32%
19. Metroid Prime = 29.54%???
20. Metal Gear Solid = 28.70%?
21. Final Fantasy Tactics = 28.68%?

granted, that doesn't even take into account any funny business between Starcraft and Wind Waker or whatever happened in Halo vs. Starcraft. and if MGS1 faced any kind of SFF against FF7, it rises above KH and SC with relative ease. but it falls a little more in line with The List. and that large amount of cheated votes for Starcraft is a viable possibility....

DUN DUN DUN!!!

I don't think it's just that Starcraft overrates things in it's part of it's bracket, it's that it overrates weaker things more than it does stronger things. There's no sense in continuing to vote stuff when you're safely ahead of your competition. Hell Halo/Starcraft? 112,000 votes, Halo/KH? 75,000. That's a huge discrepancy, and if Starcraft had needed more votes, I'm sure it could have pushed for it, but why risk it when you have your victory already secured? I think it's apparent that Halo was a much stronger entity than Kingdom Hearts ever was, especially by a much larger than the x-stats show, I'd bet my life that Starcraft recieved countless more cheated votes in it's match against Halo than it did againt KH, and when it went up againt SSB, it received it's maximum amount of cheat votes as a result of actually losing to it. So of course the cheated votes would continue to pour in, thus raising everyone up in the x-stats. I know that last point is not debated, but the fact that it only upgrades Halo very slightly compared to the huge upgrade it gives to KH is something I believe to be extremely apparent.

I know I'm not the first one to ever think this, or type it out in here, but I don't see how it could be ignored how much stronger Halo is when compared to Kingdom Hearts.

Because of the stigma of Xbox hate and Square love that this site has. I understand all of the things mentioned in your post, and seeing Halo beat Kingdom Hearts would STILL surprise me, just because of that.

Halo was definitely stronger in 2004, but this is 2006. I have a feeling that Kingdom Hearts has overtaken it during these past two years (especially during the past few months), and I obviously took that feeling to heart when making my bracket.

Also, you have to take into account that the poll position was changed smack dab in the middle of Soul Calibur/KH, which fell between the first two Starcraft matches.

Ah, didn't really know about that one, I didn't really follow Spring 2K4 all that closely, so I basically have to look through matches, updates, and whatnot to get a feel for what occured. Care to explain more in detail?

Wasn't there some funky poll positioning going on during that contest though? That's why some polls had near 100,000 and some struggled to break 70,000. If KH Vs. Starcraft had about 75,000 it was probably a poll with bad positioning.

Basically, before the poll changed places it was around where it is now. But with the advent of the "new" (now "old") design, you actually had to SCROLL DOWN to see the poll.

IIRC when the poll position changed, it became to low to view unless you scrolled down on the main page, which would prevent a lot of random passer byers from seeing it.

Regardless of the actual number of total votes, I stand by my statement, as it makes sense that the weaker the opponent, the less the stuffed votes, making the opponent look stronger. It just wouldn't be to the extent I was leading myself to believe looking at votals. To ignore it completely however, I think is completely crazy.

Do you think that the stuffed votes played that big of a factor in starcrafts victories? I can see maybe five thousand or so , and even then it's unlikely that so many wouldn't be caught.

Now that I think about it, could today's blowout be a result of Soul Calibur just dying off in popularity? It's been a few years since Soul Calibur 2, and we haven't heard much of anything from the series outside of SC3.
