This match is a strange one. One could make a case that SH could comeback during the day, but who the **** knows. Glad I picked FE regardless.

Aw, I was hoping that Silent Hill would bring that below 60% with that update. Getting there though ...

For what it's worth, PH rose in percentage against Bowser in the ending hours of the match...but, then again, Bowser's NEVER won that time of the votes.

500 vote lead after 10 minutes? yeah, Silent Hill is done.

*waves bye to tranny*

i could see SH pull as close as 57%, but if anyone gets the minor day vote, it'll be Fire Emblem.

The only remote hope SH has left is that all the casuals during the day will come to vote, and even that is a false hope.

SH with the day vote could chop it down to 55-57%, but I wouldn't count FE out. It might do surprisingly well with it and keep it near my analysis pick!

I really doubt Silent Hill will push during the day. It needs to make strides now.

I don't really see a case of SRPGs doing good in the day though. Horror is the more casual vote appeal I'd believe. But hell, probably not.

I would think Silent Hill would do really well during the day.

I just took a look at pyramid head vs. bowser, and it would appear to be the opposite. I would personally expect SH to have a similar day/night vote to resident evil, but that's just me. Survival horror games seem like the genre that would have strong night votes and weak day votes.

I doubt Silent Hill will really make strides. It's obvious that we still have a large concentration of Nintendo fans on the site (for whatever reason). 95% of them are going to be voting for Fire Emblem. It looks like that Xbox/PS2 fanbase are going to remain indifferent for the most part...

What are the vote totals looking like?

I'm not sure why everyone thinks Fire Emblem would take the day vote or not drop very much. Silent Hill seems more like the series that would do better with casuals, just from namesake alone. It is not even going to threaten Fire Emblem's win here, but I think it'll do a nice cut into the percentage tomorrow. Unless Fire Emblem is somehow good with the day vote ...

But, uh, yeah, anyone thinking Silent Hill still has a chance to win is a little crazy right now.

Well, Fire Emblem is a series that simply has to draw a lot of its power from the handheld fans (two of its three US games are on the GBA) and Super Smash Bros. Melee. I'd think those voters will help it during the day. Silent Hill may have more casual appeal overall, but this is GameFAQs. It's rather uncared for here.

I just took a look at pyramid head vs. bowser, and it would appear to be the opposite.

... Eh, I really wouldn't use that as a reason to expect Silent Hill not to do well during the day. Pyramid Head just seems like he'd suck regardless of the time of day. But I suppose we'll find out ...

Well well, looks like we'll have to wait a little longer for the first upset of the tournament. But I can't say I'm surprised... I never ever thought Silent Hill could win this. In fact, I was expecting a Vergil/Ghaleon kind of score. Guess not.

Pyramid Head just seems like he'd suck regardless of the time of day.

lol

True I suppose. But he seemed to suck slightly less during the night. Maybe SH will manage to have more of a day vote then I think though, but I still think FE will maintain its percentage during the day at the very least, if not raise it.

By the way, if anyone wants a shell script that automatically grabs poll updates, here's what I'm using. You'll need to be running Linux or Mac OS X (or Windows with the programs curl, grep, sed, tr, date, dc, and xargs available from the command line):

for (( x=0; x <= 10000; x++ )); do date; curl http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=`curl http://www.gamefaqs.com/index.html 2> /dev/null | grep '/poll/index.html' | sed 's/.*/poll/index\.html?poll=\([0-9]*\).*/\1/'` 2> /dev/null | grep TOTAL | sed -e 's/

\([^<]*\)

\([^<]*\)

<[^>]*>

\([^<]*\)

/\1 \2 \3/g' -e 's/
.*TOTAL VOTES

\([^<]*\)

/TOTAL VOTES: \1/' | tr '\\' '
'; date | sed 's/.*..:\(..\):\(..\).*/3600 \1 60 * \2 + - 300 % 3 + p/' | dc | xargs sleep; done

Basically what it does is it waits until 3 seconds past every multiple of 5 minutes, downloads gamefaqs.com/index.html to get the current pollid, downloads gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=(pollid), parses the HTML, and prints out the current poll results in a human readable format. You can run this in a terminal window and put it wherever you want on your screen, and it'll grab the current poll results every 5 minutes. It doesn't catch the action at the beginning of a poll. Your system clock doesn't need to be synchronized with GameFAQs, but if it is you'll get slightly more up-to-date results.

I don't know, bowser seems to have a very neutral day/night vote, if not a slightly weaker day vote. He did in the villain contest at least.

I'm still not really sure why people don't at least expect this to be close. Soul Calibur and Halo are linked through StarCraft, and Soul Calibur just laid a huge egg. Meanwhile, Metal Gear Solid and GoldenEye (and therefore SotN) are in the same boat, and Metal Gear just impressed. Add to it that Castlevania is much more than just SotN (Simon's in the same area of the stats as Zidane or Geno, and CV I, II and IV are hardly character centric), the GBA/DSs performing fairly well in GotY polls, and you've essentially got 20-some games on every system ever versus two XBox games...and I don't see what screams blowout here, and I like what I see for Castlevania.

And Master Chief had a lot of trouble blowing out CATS (CATS!) and nearly lost to Donkey Kong. I'd take Alucard over Master Chief without thinking too hard, and the Castlevania series is much more than Alucard.

Wish we could have this feeling

Christmas is here

Ooooohhhhhh

Tonight is the night for I love you's
And if you hold me near you
You'll feel my heart
Beating for two

Tonight is the night for I love you's
Up above the snow is falling
And stars disappear
My heart is calling
