In the last contest, wasn't the poll located lower, with an ad where
the poll is now? Because that would be the obvious explanation for

not to pick on anyone, but I can't believe some people thought there
would be rSFF in this match. if Samus can outperform Sephiroth on
Ganon, she's not suddenly going to crumble against Kirby. --- xyzzy |

The final update for these matches doesn't seem to be showing up...I
wonder if this is a vote refresh bug. Might matter in close matches, if
we have any. If you look at my update script, the 23:55 update has the vote totals displayed for the polls after they finish. This means the last 5 minutes of votes don't seem to be showing up for the final poll update. --- www.gamefaqscontests.com www.gamefaqscontests.com/gallery |

She outperformed Sephiroth on Ganon BECAUSE GANON IS A CHUMP AND OVERPERFORMED ON SEPHIROTH. DIABLO PROVES THIS. Okay, my anti-Ganon ranting for the day is done. |

I really cant fully explain why Mega Man is so popular. I think any
single Mega Man game and its fodder or pretty close to fodder in a
games contest. And this is coming from a Mega Man fan, I see the Mega
Man games having very VERY similiar fanbases from game to game. You
cant convince me that a completey different stock of people like 4 than
like 2. So how is Mega Man so strong in a Character contest. He beat SONIC and Sonic 2, Sonic and Knuckles, and maybe Sonic Adventure would beat any Mega Man game handidly. --- Where am I? |

A 1.5% difference in performance in a match with about 6000 more votes can be nothing but random fluctuation. And remember, that was a beefed up Bowser against Snake (crappy pic for Snake). About any Sonic game beating any Mega Man game, the Mega Man games on
their own are probably pretty damn weak, but as a series, Mega Man is
something totally kickass. The whole is greater than the sum of it's

But why? Every game plays the same. The fanbase should be very similiar
for EVERY GAME. I have never heard of someone hating 2 and liking 4 or
vise versa. They might think one is better than the other, but they

The whole is greater than the sum of it's parts. Actually, for any game series, the series as a whole is guaranteed to be WAAAY less than the sum of its parts. Fanbase overlap and all that. It doesn't matter when it's coming out. If you remember E3 there was
HUGE hype about the game. Solid Snake sticking a gun in his mouth is
big... also, he's going to be in SSBM:B. I'm sorry, but the release of
a new Zelda game isn't enough to completely change the way people think
of things when Snake is backed up by other hype-o-meters along with his

Yeah has there ever been a single game influenced by the hype factor? I thought we attributed Link's gains to both the Zelda Collection and a general percentage increase of Nintendo fans which caused the Nintendo boost. --- Where am I? |

that match was what, 51-49? 1% isn't a lot, and that's assuming that
they're equal. Ganon may in fact already be stronger. now, put it out
right after Twilight Princess and you've got a likely break in the

I also want to know where the supposed MASSIVE popularity for Mario
Kart games come from. You know, the one with the good Super Mario Kart,
the fan-favorite Mario Kart 64, the mixed bag Double Dash, the awful
Super Circuit, and the borderline B8 fad game DS. That's a total of ONE
game that I can get behind for the strength of the series (I won't be
swayed by handheld games not named Pokemon). So what does it have over Mega Man, aside from one game (the only thing I wouldn't take a Mega Man game over)? Sales? Yeah, so does Mario Party, and the first person to tell me MP > MM gets another wallop with the chump stick. Past contest appearances -- yeah. The only thing it has on the Top 100 List is Super Mario Kart (although I don't think MK64 was on the drop-down list) and Sonic 2 beats it out with absolute ease. Why Mario Kart? Huh? Why does it have to be so infallibly strong, and Mega Man the one we have to doubt? It couldn't be that Board 8 is overhyping and overrating yet another side Nintendo series, could it??? |
