Why does everyone keep calling Silent Hill cult? Doesn't cult mean you
have a small but dedicated fanbase, but are relatively obscure outside
of that? There is no small dedicated Silent Hill fanbase on this site.
There's barely a Silent Hill fanbase on this board!
I say again that low sales means nothing as the fanbase isn't really
significant on this site at all. It's all gonna come down to who cares
enough to vote for that series over Fire Emblem. I say again that PS2 gamers know about Silent Hill. It's not cult at all. When the first game came out in '99, it received just as much fanfare as any of the other non-big name PSX titles (Soul Reaver, Syphon Filter, etc.). I don't know the sales of the first game, but trust me, it's not cult at all. There just isn't a large fanbase for the series on this site. I'm beyond tired of entire contests being decided because of the
results of one match. I love how Pokemon is already a threat to beat
Metroid despite starting the match above 90% and falling to less than a
doubling. It's also funny to see people hoping for Metroid to
underperform against Kirby, just so they can decide in their heads that

It's also funny to see people hoping for Metroid to underperform
against Kirby, just so they can decide in their heads that Metroid is
going to lose. Actually, I'm hoping for that so Kirby won't look like absolute crap in the match. Go Kirby! Meh. Kirby already looked plenty good in the last character contest. I
care nothing about how his gaming series does, especially against
Metroid. If Sonic can get his ass beat 70-30 by Mario in a match that
pretty much had a character battle match pic, I don't see why people
think that Kirby will all of a sudden stand up to Metroid. It's obvious
that people know we're talking about games in these contests. And if

If Kirby's main source of strength is SSB/M, why has his strength
increased so much over the past few years (25% in 2k2 to 35% in 2k5),
even compared to other Nintendo characters? I wouldn't say that any one
of Kirby's games is at all a force, but altogether his series could
actually have some strength, especially if Kirby's trend toward greater
power continues this year. --- Pity for the guilty is treason to the innocent. |

For Mega Man vs. Kirby (series-wise), I don't know if Mega Man would
perform much higher than 60%. Perhaps 62%-ish would be my guess. On the other hand, I find the prospect that Mario Kart could double Kirby rather unlikely. I'd say it would be more in the ~58% range. Both Kirby and Mario Kart have had popular and unpopular games. Mario Kart would only be propelled to winning by Mario Kart 64 (which I will mention has not made a contest while SSBM has, meaning I wouldn't anticipate it to have the same success as SSB), whereas Kirby gets popular support from SSB, which certainly isn't as strong. I doubt that people will care much if it is the character Kirby or the series: the match pic will invariably have a cute picture of Kirby with the option "Kirby" under it. Anyway, the point of all this is that Mega Man vs. Mario Kart should be close, but unless you think Mario Kart can double Kirby (which I understand some people can easily believe -- not myself), Mega Man seems poised to win. /// *Stares at FFVA game info with bloodshot eyes* Release date... Super Mario Kart is prolly my 2nd fav racing game of all time. I have
fond memories of Double Dash and Kart 64 too. I wouldn't be sad if it
beat Mega Man, but overall I do like MM more. Mega Man is just the

Mario Kart has unpopular games? Since when? The only one that would even come into the discussion is Mario Kart Super Circuit... The fanbase is split on Double Dash. Yeah, Double Dash certainly is a point of contention with MK fans -- a lot of people despise it. ...in the same way a lot of people despise Metroid Prime 2, but the point stands. |

Yes, I was thinking about DD!!, but I remember MK:SC is generally
despised. The only good thing about that game was the courses, which

I had such a tough time controlling Super Circuit. At first I didn't
want to get MKDS because I thought it would handle similarly.
