If Metroid gets out of the first round (which it easily will), then Pokemon doesn't stand a chance. Also am I the only one who wants to see Link vs Mario 2 in the Summer
Contest? It would be interesting to see how badly Mario gets beaten.

I want to see Samus/Crono and One of Clinkeroth vs. Snake, as one is
debated hotly (though I don't see why - Samus would win), and it'd be
interesting to see the gap between the strongest NN character and the

games, and I liked the BG games better. NWN had good gameplay but the
plot was just awful. It had the lamest villains I can think of in an

So far so good. Pokemon is gonna double Star Ocean? Wow... never
expected that. I would have been impressed with it just cracking 60%,
so exceeding 65% with the day vote to come is great. I will be
extremely interested to see how Kirby does tomorrow. I mean, it should

Have we seen the new match pic yet?

it's the sloppiest yet - the two main characters against a red
background? Yikes. I think the others have actually been pretty good
thus far, but this one is kinda lazy. On another note, will the prominent placement of the series' main characters skew the votes at all? I kinda hope Kirby gets annihilated, because if he doesn't you'll have
all manners of people hyping Pokémon to beat Metroid, as if doubling
cannon fodder was anything meaningful. I mean, Max Payne got a tripling

I hope Metroid only gets 50.01% tomorrow -- even if it's

I'm not even going to begin predicting this. Sure, at first it looks
like a blowout, but when you factor in Metroid sucking ass when it
comes to SFF and Kirby avoiding SFF against Bowser, it could be closer
than people expect. That said, I still see a blowout being more likely. Which is why I'm not gonna bother. --- sig |

Match 4 - Metroid vs. Kirby Oh yes, time to pull out the old fanboy hat and mark out like I'd just seen that Foley/Edge-Dreamer/Funk match and cared about ECW. Regulars who've ever read my posts will know that I'm a massive Metroid fan and that two of my three favourite games are from this series. You'll also remember quite how annoyed I was when Diablo knocked me off the leaderboard last Spring as if anything I'm a bigger Ridley mark, but there you go. Kirby's been around since god knows when as well. I've never been the biggest fan, although I'm not ertyu-esque in hating Kirby either. A quick search shows a decent range of games, but nothing of the popularity of anything Metroid related, with no contest history games-wise compared to three 2004 entrants and four top 100 appearances. Kirby won't be disgraced here at all. Kirby as a character shot up like a rocket last year, and although the two series share hardware, there won't be much SFF if any (reverse, anyone?), as Metroid sucks when it comes to SFFing and being SFF'ed (see Mario-Samus, SM-LttP etc) and is a clear third strongest series Nintendo-wise. However, Metroid will be in no trouble and can book an easy enough passage into round 2. Bracket says: Metroid Favourites bracket says: Metroid Vote says: Metroid Prediction: Metroid with 64.37% Fun fact of the day: jonthomson was away from a computer for a 24-hour period for the first time in almost forever during the Ridley/Diablo match. Predictable Board 8. Just yestersay, Pokemon was going to struggle with
this match. Now, it's a serious threat to Metroid and yesterday never
happened. Anyway, glad to see Pokemon doing so well, but dispatching fodder is always unimpressive to me. It'll be interesting to see where it ranks, especially since both Pokemon and Metroid are masters of getting SFFed >_> --- That... was her final mission.
