heh, nah, I don't get personal about this contest. if I did, I would
have picked Super Metroid to beat LT... I mean, Samus to beat Ma...
err... but seriously, it wouldn't bother me if Pokemon beat Metroid. hell, my favourite series is about to get quadded in a couple of weeks. --- xyzzy |

Tranny, Pokemon's % is dropping like .3% every five minutes, I'd say
it'd be lucky to escape with a doubling at this point, plus even if SO

This made me think...as far as brackets go, it would have been a lot cooler if Pokemon and The Elder Scrolls switched places. I warned ya! Didn't I warn ya?!?!? ...dammit, it's gone. Come on now. Don't let Zelda/Metroid SFF make you doubt Metroid's popularity on this site. no, I'm the first person to dismiss all the people who think Samus/Metroid would lose to lesser Nintendo characters/games. it's just, well, Pokemon is probably higher on the Nintendo food chain than Metroid is. Kirby is definitely lower. if Pokemon doesn't get antivoted (and it sure looks like it isn't), then this could be a little scary. let me go find that poll.. --- xyzzy |

FICTION: I have my own theory that R/B/Y is the only truly popular Pokemon game since G/S/C came out as the fad was dying down. FACT: Nintendo boost seems to favour Mario Kart putting those numbers up on Suiko. I still think that Mega Man/Mario Kart is going to be a near 50/50 affair, but we'll see. well on the bright side, this whole pic factor nonsense can be
hopefully shut up for good, unless it's just catastrophic. (and that
picture wasn't even close to that - it was a fair representation of the
series.) Well, the 'pic-factor' as it was mulled over for this match wasn't anything about unrecognizability, it was about "Is Pikachu that much of a detriment to get it anti-voted significantly?" The answer seems to be a resounding NO, although for all we know Pokemon could be doing 80% or something with a Mewtwo/Charizard/Blastoise combo (yeah, right) But pic-factor for unrecognizability still hurts, and to bring it close to home (well, for me) it hurts most for none other than Solid Snake. And I've come to realize Snake isn't some universally recognized character either, even on GameFAQs. TONS of people here have no idea who the hell he is, and the SSBB board is perfect proof of that; I'd venture at least a solid fourth of the board had no idea who he was before then, or didn't even recognize him immediately because he was in his MGS2 form. Now granted, many of those people are those that only play Nintendo, but a lot of the vote in matches that people don't recognize (but don't abstain on) is image. Combine all that with a representative from a popular game on GameFAQs (Frog/Bowser/Zelda) and I think there's room to underperform a percent based on the picture. (Now that we've seen KH go from a Pokemon/SO discussion to a tangent on Solid Snake, let's see him do it with the rest of the contest! More at 11!) |

Just you wait guys. Since I'm one of maybe ten or so people on this entire board who have that upset pick, I wouldn't consider it likely. This contest is bogus anyways, the average age of the users on Gamefaq
are in the teens and the results for everything that happens on Gamefaq
always seems to sway towards Nintendo. You could put: Elf Bowling DS against Final Fantasy Tactics PS1 and Elf Bowling would win. |
