Were you alive during the late 1990s? Square was so dominant in the
market due to FF7 that even their crappy games sold like hotcakes. Um, Xenogears only sold 239,000. Better than your average cult RPG but well below SO3. |

And Pokemon vote totals each update are sharply declining, while Star Ocean only goes down a few votes each update. Could Pokemon run out of steam soon? Granted, at this point it's not in danger of losing. --- sig |

Um, Xenogears only sold 239,000. Better than your average cult RPG but well below SO3. You could say it like that... Regarding Xenogears and popularity, don't forget that it got Greatest
Hits status and a re-release in December of 2003, not too far from
SpC2K4. I also don't see why people are so quick to judge MM/MK on the results of X/Suiko. I mean, yes, it's likely that Classic and X probably share most of the same fanbase, but Yaoi Incarnate and **** Red Shells don't strike me as the most comparable of series. --- www.rpgdl.com - Because everybody loves violent arena battles, right? |

Both the pc and 360 versions of oblivion have been on the top ten site faq lists since its release in mid march. Morrowind came out four years ago, and still ocassionally makes its way on the top ten of the pc faq list and top 50 site faq list. Both games also have highly populated message boards. | It doesn't matter on that match. If it was at least SOMETHING, even something generally unpopular but at least widely played (like Fire Emblem v. Splinter Cell) the match would be more in doubt...and even then, I'm fully anticipating Top Tier and TEH FIRE to be repping FE on that match anyway. |

I just realized that Metroid/Kirby votals are going to be hurt by the
same fanbase AND July 4th. That will likely break the streak of 100k

And Pokemon officially passes the point of no return (3000 vote lead is the point of no return, right?). Duck Hunt against Donkey Kong is the only entrant to come back by over 3000 votes. Technically, Master Hand and Master Chief kept increasing in upwards of 3000 votes after they came back, but it's unclear how much of that is comeback and how much is naturally increasing a lead with time. --- "Dropo! Pokemon looks like MMX here. yeah, I think Metroid still beats it...

I point to SO3's reviews again - I don't think the game is as liked as

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that Suikoden/MMX saw nothing new crack
the all-time top tens. Most of the stats were in the upper parts of the

tranny's getting insecure about one of his babies, that's cute...WRONG, but cute The only thing that gives credence to Metroid losing is its horrible history with SFF...and even with that and my desperation for an upset, I couldn't pick Kirby over it. Unless Kirby does something drastic, like...well, come close to BEATING Metroid, I still say Metroid > Pokemon is a full, unbeatable, 100 per ****ing cent lock. And if Samus ended up blowing EITHER of these matches, Metroid would never be forgiven. |

" Because almost all the hardcores have heard good things about xenogears, even if they haven't played it. Although not many have played it, its reputation is damn excellent, and any RPG fan is likely to vote it based on what it heard. SO's sold more, but it doesn't have a solid fanbase. People think it's good, not great, and in a contest about the BEST game ever, that's a death knell. Think about all the people that think Xenogears is one of the best game ever. Then show me one person who thinks SO2 or 3 is. You'll find some, but not many. If Xenogears plays SO, I'd expect 65% on xeno's part. --- During the struggle, all Hayner could think about was Roxas' balls. |

crazy. Come on now. Don't let Zelda/Metroid SFF make you doubt Metroid's popularity on this site. Metroid Prime was still game of the year and is adored on this site, as is the second game. It has a handheld presence to combat Pokemon on this site. And you still have the Super Metroid and original fans.
