Heh... well, there's not quite as huge an outburst as I expected about that Pokemon pic. I honestly don't think it'll make a difference.

I'm more interested in Kirby vs Samu... er... Metroid. Even though I should've expected a pic just like that, I still like it. Perhaps a bit of a sneak peek at Kirby vs Samus? Heh heh. I hope Kirby does well for himself... his series, his series!

I'm surprised the board vote is heavily favoring Pokemon. I got the impression SO3 was very well-liked around here.

<_< What? When the bracket came out, few even considered SO3 a trheat.

also, have you seen swirl and RPGuy's contest lately? (lol go vote cheap plug) Pokemon RBY is one of two undefeated games and GSC is top fifteen. the board loves Pokemon.

That was actually one of the toughest matches for me to pick.

And yeah, I do vote in swirl/RPGuy's contest, just never keep up with the results <_<

MMX with 79% of the brackets.

After catching up on all the posts I missed today...I don't really have anything else to say, except here's to hoping Pokemon will win.

Yeah, I'm surprised by how many people here actively participate in Pokemon related topics.

To give you an idea, in my last Pokémon tournament Jolteon/Scizor and Umbreon/Mewtwo both got 93 votes.

93 votes in a tournament about ONE series. That's ENORMOUS.

For sure in Board 8, but in general hate has been dieing off or they aren't as vocal anymore.

I still think Metroid was the pinnacle of the series until Prime. People point to great games like the new Castlevanias and say "Super Metroid started that". Super Metroid didn't change the face of the Metroid series though. It was the same concept as the original. It just refined it.

The original Metroid was really the one to kick it all off. Sure, it was nigh impossible. The hell if anyone could figure out where and how to go without a faq. I played it over and over exploring the game on the original NES, but never actually beat it until five years ago. But the premise is all there. We don't owe Super Metroid for SOTN. All the concepts began in the original. Super just added some weapons and abilities and tweaked it. Great game, and lived up to its prestigious predecessor, but it's vastly overrated IMHO. I just don't see Super as the "pinnacle" of the series. Metroid kicked it off, and Prime redefined it far more than Super is. But then, it could be just me.

Oh and by "around here", I mean Board 8. Sorry I didn't specify earlier.

I honestly believe Metroid didn't become playable until Super Metroid came along. Any game that practically requires you to use a FAQ isn't fun, finding out things for yourself is fun but when it requires you to buy Nintendo Power or whatever...then it's a problem.

Not even remotely close to the Nintendo leaning on this board, though that has been two years in the making for this place.

And Kingdom Hearts II will be bringing in enough RPG fans to give the win to Star Ocean!! 8 minutes remain!
