but when it's got a second meaning that's as popular as it is --
especially amongst gamers -- on a site that's 95% male, I don't see the
wrong in it. As long as the context is understood, I wouldn't think it
should be such a problem here. Actually the word has a third definition that was technically proper in the context of way EC used it. Both the noun form and transitional verb forms of the word have third definitions that make no reference to sex acts. EC's comment made no reference to sexual activities and he could/should claim that his reference was not meant in a sexual way. However, I do highly doubt the intent was less than sexual in meaning... I have used the word in a non-sexual way and I think it is perfectly fine. KB |

If Mega Man X can't make any ground with the day vote in this match,
we should be able to know the winner of Mario Kart/Mega Man within an

It does have more than one definition. However, since now I know some people are offended by it, I'll try to stop using it. This is nice of you... and I try not to use the word either... but it should not be required and one should not be afraid to use it because some people are offended by it. Using the word is not inherently a bad thing... it is how you use it... KB |

I think that the higher vote totals will slightly help more casual
audiences. The hardcore have the patience to scroll down to find the
poll in previous matches, whereas the casual did not. So more casual

Zelda really sodomized Civilization last night. 100k votes? So is this match more a sign of Suikoden's strength or MMX's weakness? Because I'm guessing the latter, because while 70%'s usually not too bad, Suikoden's been fodder in the contests it's been in. Mega Man rips out fodder's entrails and whip them with it in the character contest, so what's the deal here? --- sig |

I think it's Suidoken's strength. It got SFF against FFVII IMO, and I
don't think the strength of Luca Blight and Suikoden are transitive at
all... I've heard of Suikoden, but not Luca Blight, and I doubt I'm

Those having Mega Man over Mario Kart better pray its because of Suikoden strength. As for me, I believe its both Suikoden strength and Mega Man X weakness. Mega Man X or Mega Man for that matter just arent top series. I take FF, LOZ, SMB, Super Smash Brothers, Metal Gear, Metroid, and probably take Halo, Kingdom Hearts, and Mario Kart over them as well. --- Where am I? |

I think it's a combo of Suikoden being stronger than we thought, and
MMX weaker, granted, I still think MM >> MMX so it doesn't really

I agree only because I could actually see the original Mega Man doing better here. (MMX is still better than the original Mega Man. >>) And yeah, this is making me very happy for SO. no way Pokemon is close to MMX. Sorry, have to disagree with that. I'd say SO is pretty much on the same level as Suikoden in terms of strength. Pokemon i feel will win, and win by quite a bit, i don't see why it shouldn't. I'll eat my words though if i'm wrong. --- Guess how many teens got owned by overrating England? |

It doesn't matter. If Master Chief can't do well when everyone
recognizes him as representing Halo then Halo itself wont do much

The average Gamefaqs visitor hasn't heard about or cares about either
of those series, so it doesn't matter. The main reason Star Ocean has
more of a chance is because its up against what should be a much weaker

really wouldn't be surprised to see Pokemon tripling Star Ocean.
Likewise, I wouldn't be surprised to see Star Ocean putting up

Match 3 - Pokemon vs Star Ocean Oh dear. A match of massively useless proportions. I believe I dubbed this as "the Brooklyn Brawler vs. Gillberg" within ten minutes of seeing the bracket. I mean seriously, if you look at the quality of some series that have been omitted, it kind of makes you sick. Especially given that there's plenty of good series that have made it in and could easily beat either of these, but have come up in a more or less no win situation in round 1. Still, let's look at this. It's more or less the only debatable match of this division. Pokemon has, for better or worse, shipped a heck of a lot of units, but is nowhere near the phenomenon that it used to be. Do people still care about it, either to vote or anti-vote it? That's unclear. A lot of people claim that a lot of heat that Pokemon draws is just down to Pikachu, but then again they also think that Mewtwo would do something other than suck terribly in a character contest. Anti-votes come from the whole series in general, not just one of its annoying characters. Then we have Star Ocean, a series that I really don't know too much about, being that it's another role playing series on a system that I don't own. We've not really seen anything of it in a contest setting, but we can probably work out that it's not going to be strong at all. However, can it be strong enough to beat Pokemon? It's a tough one, although the BOP suggests otherwise. The thing to look at is the SpC2K4 match between Pokemon G/S/C and Xenogears, which saw Xenogears win. It's hard to tell whether Star Ocean will be a stronger series or not, and how accurate we can gauge the whole of Pokemon from that match, but I can't see it being a blowout either way. I honestly think that it can take it, and that there will be enough Pokemon hate around to cause it to lose. There's just something about Pokemon winning a match that doesn't sound right. It could be completely irrational, but I've made dafter picks in the past. If Parappa the Rapper can come within 10% of Pikachu, then Star Ocean can take down the series. Hence you ought to probably go for a Pokemon doubling.
