From: Read_Only_Thx | Posted: 7/2/2006 5:16:31 PM | Message Detail FE/SH won't break 90,000 votes. I think it'll break 90k, but likely not 100k. But it'll still get a lot more votes than it would've otherwise (10-20k min, I'd guess), and considering Silent Hill's recognizability compared to Fire Emblem's, it'd still be enough to skew the results in SH's favor. People here massively overrate the casual appeal of the Silent Hill games. Silent Hill games barely sell better than Suikoden games, for god's sake. They're routinely blown away by the Hitman games. Silent Hill is not some sort of casual gaming powerhouse. Also, whose alt are you again? --- Pity for the guilty is treason to the innocent. |

Except that, you know, it isn't. How the hell is it not? The games are freaking called Hitman for chrissakes, and while I don't have them I'm sure the series' healthy sales can back me up on its casual support. Just because it's a good game (and a *great* stealth game) doesn't mean that it isn't casual. |

Quaarma Hunter's Quaint Qubandwagon Quanalysis Today's Match: Suikoden v. Mega Man X Well, as Civilization rips up Zelda by what I assume is nearing a 90% blowout (I don't check the polls, or read the boards, but I'm infallible so it's all good) we move on to our next match, which is even EASIER to call. Terrible bracket Ceej, 4/5 matches are supposed to be difficult. In one corner, we have the Suikoden games, and in the other we have the Mega Man X games. Each have got a unique entry in the character contests, and one made the game contest as well. First, the character contest. Zero of the Mega Man X series first appeared in 2k3, where he got lucky by facing off against Scorpion in the first round. I mean, you'd imagine he'd be screwed, as who would vote nothing (i.e. Zero, get it???) over a scorpion? But it turned out it was a dude called Scorpion, and his penchant for telling the voters to get over to him was his downfall. And then Zero couldn't take advantage and lost hard to Sonic. No one likes Sonic, that's why he's a hedgehog! He performed equally poorly in 2k4, first rSFFing his way to victory over Protoman and then cheating over the massively popular Tommy Vercetti (where do you think Kefka got the idea?). But then he goes and blows it by losing to MEGA MAN. WTF is Mega Man?! Zero's a robot, how does he lose to that? Finally, in 2k5 Zero puts on his most shameful performance yet. First he has to slink by a ninja, who he only gets past because all the real ninja had money on the match, then he struggles with a kid who I'm pretty sure has some sort of mental deficiencies. And then he loses to perhaps the least known video game character of all time: MARIO. How anyone could fathom even remembering a plumber for any length of time is beyond me. There's also Sigma, who isn't even worth discussing. First he almost loses to A FREAKING HEAD, and then loses to Bowser, which I'm convinced is some kind of spin on Inspector Gadget's catchphrase. No one likes Inspector Gadget. On Suikoden's side, look at Luca Blight. He first appeared in 2k4, where he got tough luck with the unstoppable MAGUS in the first round. I mean, that guy is cleanly stronger than Noble Niners based on some information upon whose origins I'm not exactly sure of, that's power! And he got another shot in the Villains Contest, where he performed respectably on the incredibly popular villain of Resident Evil, Wesker. More importantly, Suikoden II also got into the Game Contest, when NO MMX games could. Clearly Suikoden II alone has the advantage over the whole MMX series, and it only lost due to FFVII's trademark rSFF. And no one even LIKES Suikoden II and/or Luca Blight, it's all about the other games! I'm not even sure they got in over the others! Clearly all the work of Ceej's biased nominations. And finally, in terms of sales there is only one winner: Suikoden. The series has sold hundreds of thousands of games in its lifespan. And for MMX, look at MMXC: neither the PS2 or GC versions cracked 100,000. And it's useless to look at the sales of the previous games in the series, as they're all the same games that the same people buy anyway! Again, another easy to call match, and again I won't even bother looking. Suikoden proves it's a juggernaut with ease here. Prediction: Suikoden with 87% --- *is Karma Hunter* |
