I just finished compiling a list of every Mario game ever released in preparation for my Comparisons Game for each match. 160 releases. 160 effing releases in the Mario series. Honestly, we've said that games =/= characters in terms of strength,
and I still believe the "boost" would apply less to games than most
people around here want to believe. This may turn out to be surprisingly true. Look at the Top Ten List. *dodges bricks* Despite how close they were before, LttP can't ike out a place over CT (though you've got to consider how much support OoT siphoned away). The rest of the list is very balanced, no overwhelming Ninty support. Hell, most of you got bit in the ass by banking on it, and can thank Super Mario 64 for the sting. You're crazy if you want me to consider frigging Canvas Curse as the driving force for Kirby becoming the monstrosity he was last year, and the boosts have hardly been uniform even amongst the Nintendo characters. Yeah, I'm still banking on it, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least if CT ended up beating LttP by more (no doubt due to Chrono Break hype!!). --- *is Karma Hunter* |

Finishing higher on a favorites list means very little in a direct
rematch in a contest setting. I don't see how you think LttP couldn't
overcome a 362 vote difference. The reason I wouldn't take FFX in a rematch against SSBM is that I think FFX probably reached its peak in popularity in 2k3/2k4. Tidus went from barely losing to Ganondorf to getting blasted by Kirby. Don't get me wrong, FFX is still strong on this site, but I don't see it coming up and beating SSBM right now. Sure, it was shafted by the match pic, but the Nintendo shift since then probably would cancel that out. I could see that match ending up about the same. Damn Ganondorf. I overrated him so much, I thought he'd steamroll his
fourpack with ease to a comfortable loss to Link (SFF? What's that?). I
remember thinking, "Man, this would be a lot harder if G-dorf was on
Sephiroth's side of the bracket!" Then he went and lost to Magus, like
a LOSER. Then Magus tried to tell me it was all right in his loss to
Link, but then Knuckles told me it wasn't alright, and it turned out
Magus was a lousy LOSER too. Which makes Ganondorf some horrible kind
of DOUBLE LOSER, which cannot be comprehended by any mind this side of
Gordon Freeman. Stay under CATS where you belong, Ganondorf~! --- *is Karma Hunter* |
