A Mario Kart game, a Mega Man game, and a Mario game in the poll and they all get trounced by the likes of Golden Sun? Felix did do well in 2003, ya know. And the fact that it was Mega Man Battle Network is a big reason why it got beat down as bad as it did. It ranked as a very, very distant third in that favorite Mega Man series poll. Pretty comparable to Mega Man Legends and Mega Man Zero, though I have no clue why people don't like MMZ more. >> --- "If you're asking for a date, forget it. Well, Sora isn't the best example to use in terms of being
representative of his series. Besides, most standalone games tend to be

Oh, series versus series -- I missed that part! Damn, I'd have to
reconsider LoZ > SMB (if the match actually happened), because I
thought for sure that the top two LoZ games could beat any SMB game,
and I'm pretty sure the latest big Mario console game was a bust
whereas the last console LoZ game got GotY here. Well, there's our difference. I'm not looking at it on a game by game basis. |

M:ZM also had another Metroid game to compete with, and I'm sure SM64DS

Yeah, I guess, but do people really care about CoM? Yes, they do. They may not care much about the gameplay of Sora's part, but the game does introduce Organization XIII. And fans of KH also love playing through Reverse Rebirth (Riku's story). do people care about non-SOTN Castlevania games? I think the handheld games have come to acquire a fanbase of their own. Any individual game may not be as popular as SotN, but the handhelds are becoming more popular with each release. Dawn of Sorrow is probably the most popular handheld game, and Portrait of Ruin will probably bring a bit more popularity to the series as well. I'd take both Pokemon and Star Ocean over Fire Emblem quite easily, as
well as practically all of the other series in this contest. Fire
Emblem is like the Serious Sam of this contest - there's no way it

I don't think the handheld games are all that significant though, with
the possible exception of DoS. In terms of the other Castlevania's, I think the handhelds are pretty significant. When people think about what they like about the Castlevania series, I bet the handhelds get more consideration on average than say, the NES or SNES games. If you have SMB going over FF, you might as well take it over LoZ.
Series wise, shouldn't the edge go to SMB? This isn't Mario-Link or
SM64-OOT here. This is series vs series :) Why take SMB over FF period anyway? Even if Zelda and Mario were in the same half-bracket, Zelda would win pretty easily, seeing how the only possible game Mario can only beat thanks to SFF is probably the first Zelda game, and that isn't really saying much for Mario. I think those words are meaningless. I mean, really, look how much
Pokemon sold. Also know that Metroid is practically unwanted in Japan,

But taking Metroid to beat Pokemon is a risk that might win you the
contest. After all, there's bound to be an upset somewhere. The
