You better hide! Personally, I don't care who makes the stats topic as
long as its somebody who is involved in the discussion. I remember
voltch did it once and Ulti totally overwrote him. I thought that was

And if it comes down to people fighting over who makes the next one, I can see where Ulti comes from in complaining about who makes it. If people are going to make who makes the topic a big deal and start calling dibs for topics in the future, then it is better to keep it consistent. I can see where Ulti comes from in complaining about who makes it.
If people are going to make who makes the topic a big deal and start
calling dibs for topics in the future, then it is better to keep it
consistent. If we are discussing and somebody goes "oh, I'll make the
next one", then it's totally different. It's his fault this attitude came about in the first place. If he'd acted slightly less obsessed after Solarshadow left and didn't make new topics when he previous one was at 220 posts just so no-one else would, we wouldn't be having this discussion. What you see here is nothing but people following his example, making the creation of these topics seem like some sort of nerdy prize. Worked too. I often see people refer to this as if it was Ulti's, and it annoys me. Fighting for online status. Anyone know anything sadder? Anyone? You in the back? RE already came in second in the favorite Capcom franchise poll without
RE4. Plus, when's the last time Street Fighter had a significant

Because the site gets new blood. It is not solely old-school gamers.
New gamers have Resident Evil 4 fresh in their mind, as it was the game
of the year for a number of publications and websites. Street Fighter
has not had anything in a while. Is this the reason why RE will win?

You do have a point there, but that theory can be contradicted easily.
Such as the Silent Hill movie exposure votes. People say those votes
still won't matter significantly enough for it to have much of an

Yo yo! Nice to be back and have something to discuss. Definitely a good escape from the real world. And my question with respect to number of series is not a "Will Dragon Quest beat Kingdom Hearts because it has 4 times the games." It is more of a "Will Dragon Quest overperform as a result of having 4 times the games?" I know it will be very difficult to judge this with only one contest, but I have my eye on Halo/Castlevania as a way to gauge this. If Castlevania performs in a strong manner, I will have a little faith in the overperformance in relation to massive series numbers. --- RIP - Tnote827 (4/4/05) |

The thing about movie exposure is it is not directly going to bring
people to an faqs/walkthroughs website. It will raise awareness of the
series and name, of course, but Resident Evil 4 directly brings people
here. Again, I do not expect this to solely propel Resident Evil to a
strong showing; I just merely think it is one of the many X-factors
that exist in these contest environments that is nice to have a handle

The best thing to do is not to make the topic until the previous one
hits 500. It makes no sense otherwise, and it sometimes makes the

The best thing to do is not to make the topic until the previous one hits 500.
