Xenogears has a much better story and script yes, but gameplay wise,
the options in Star Ocean games, particularly The Second Story, are

I was hoping to find more, especially more recent, but...c'este la vie. In the first poll, while incredibly old, SO:TSS was behind six other options (and the second most-favored option was "Other"). In the second poll, although GTA:SA and MGS3 tripled and doubled SO:TtEoT's votes (respectively), it still came in third. So, I am a bit curious Mario/Tatsumaki Senpuu (sorry, not sure exactly
what you want to be called). It obviously appears that you think SO
will beat Pokemon (correct me if I am wrong). How close do you think the match will be percentage wise? Also, do you think that SO will get the night vote while Pokemon wins the day...or will something different happen? --- If you build a man a fire, he will be warm for a day. If you set a man on fire, he will be warm for the rest of his life. |

How close do you think the match will be percentage wise? Also, do
you think that SO will get the night vote while Pokemon wins the
day...or will something different happen? The absolute most I could see Star Ocean winning the match with would be 53%. Probably the same percentage if Pokemon ended up winning. I think it is going to be a close match either way. And I haven't thought about the day/night vote, but SO seems like a night vote thing and Pokemon seems like a day vote thing. This "Where is Chrono while Madden gets in?" outrage reminds me of
myself during the Villains Contest, wondering how in the world Sin got

no reason to go for SO. That's really some awful logic you have there. I know you have some other reason than that to go on. Just because we have not seen something in a contest before does not say much of anything about its potential strength in a contest when it does make it in. The board is usually a major factor in determining what things get into the contest with rallies, and I never recall any serious rally for Fayt in the contest. Besides, Star Ocean 3 would have only had one opportunity to get into a contest -- Summer Contest 2005. It came out in August 2004, which was after the Games Contest had come and gone. Star Ocean 2 ... yeah, that nomination system didn't allow for FFVIII to get in, much less SO2. That logic you're using just isn't going to float. Though I am tempted to run a rally for Fayt if Star Ocean wins and/or keeps it close, which I think it pretty much a guarantee. --- "Princess, there's no need for worry. Who do you think I am? | Madden beating Chrono, Half-Life, Donkey Kong Country, Star Fox, Katamari and Tales blows my mind. Most of the fodder blows my mind that they made it over those series. |

It's not awful logic. This is a series that has never had the made the

I'm not really doubting that Pokemon, while weak and with the neutral voter against it, is the favorite here. I don't have a doubt that Pokemon is a favorite here, especially in the BOP, which is going to overwhelmingly favor Pokemon. That doesn't mean, however, that it's going to win simply because it is the favorite to do so. Star Ocean despite not having anything in the contest, though there is a perfectly reasonable explanation for this, is going to win, good sir! --- "Princess, there's no need for worry. Yes, if only slightly. Kingdom Hearts lost to Starcraft by a wider
margin then Halo did, and while KH2 has received a very nice response,
Halo 2 kinda broke all the sales records. Still, I don't view this as a

Silent Hill is nowhere near as revolutionary or influential as Doom was. plus - here's something that people keep forgetting about Fire Emblem: at the time of Fire Emblem's match against FFTA, the entire series had only been released in America for about 4 months. it was the newest game in the tournament at the time. since then, the first (US) Fire Emblem has had time to sink in and two more Fire Emblems have been well received here. plus, there are the older Japanese games that have gained more of a following here since then. Fire Emblem is definitely going to be stronger than it was in 2K4. also - HM - if possible, what are the sales numbers for: Skies of Arcadia Xenogears Suikoden series Grandia series Lunar series Shadow Hearts series Fire Emblem series --- "In America, first you get the sugar, then you get the power, then you get the women...." - Homer Simpson |

from this past year's GotY polls: http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=2245 yeah, the Gamecube didn't have much going on last year, but Fire Emblem was easily the second most popular Gamecube game last year, onlt behind RE4 (which was voted the overall GotY by a longshot). http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=2244 and FE8 for GBA was easily the third most popular GBA game, only behind FF4 and Zelda: Minish Cap. hardly obscure or cult. Righty-o, here's my bracket. (Did I just say...righty-o...? *slits wrists*) Hyrule Division Legend of Zelda Mega Man X Pokemon Metroid Snake Division Metal Gear Silent Hill Halo Kingdom Hearts Mushroom Division Super Mario Bros. Grand Theft Auto Sonic Super Smash Bros. Ultima Division Final Fantasy Mega Man Street Fighter Resident Evil ROUND 2 Hyrule Division Legend of Zelda Metroid Snake Division Metal Gear Kingdom Hearts - (Halo 2 didn't do much for the Chief. I know characters =/= series, but they have SOME bearing. KHII has been VERY well received, though. It's due to be only the third Square RPG I've ever bought/rented) Mushroom Division Super Mario Bros. Sonic - LoZ and FF are popular because they have a large number of games to draw popularity from - why can't it be the same with Sonic? Ultima Division Final Fantasy Resident Evil ROUND 3 - AKA The easiest round ever Hyrule Division Legend of Zelda Snake Division Metal Gear Mushroom Division Super Mario Bros. - Gets past SSB unconvincingly Ultima Division Final Fantasy ROUND 4 Legend of Zelda vs. Metal Gear After waiting years to get to the final four, Snake has done it TWICE. And for the second contest running he will be beaten convincingly. I'm seeing Metal Gear not breakibng 40% here. Final Fantasy vs. Super Mario Brothers SMB does well against FF, but FF pulls through. Final FF > LoZ. Round 1 and 2 have some difficult matches, but all the matches in Round 3 onwards are easy to predict. SMB vs. FF MAY be hazardous, but FF will probably win.
