my thoughts (for the archives!): Hyrule Division Legend of Zelda Civilization Suikoden Mega Man X Pokemon Star Ocean Metroid Kirby yawwwn. Kirby's games are not nearly as popular as his series, so Metroid-Kirby won't be close. Pokemon will probably draw enough anti-votes to give Metroid the round 2 win. Zelda smashes everything of course. not that x-stats for something like this will matter, but ouch. Snake Division Metal Gear Soul Calibur Silent Hill Fire Emblem Castlevania Halo Kingdom Hearts Harvest Moon Metal Gear's division should have been a free-for-all; instead, we get a really weak 4-5 matchup. put GTA-Warcraft in this division and you've got a nice division. Castlevania-Halo is one of the two best first-round matchups, the other being Mario Kart/Mega Man. I've got Castlevania right now, but I think both could win this. KH probably edges out the winner. I've got MG winning the whole thing though. Mushroom Division Super Mario Bros. Madden NFL Grand Theft Auto Warcraft Sonic Devil May Cry Super Smash Bros. Dragon Quest Madden might approach Tanner's record here. eh, probably not, but I could see 88-90%. GTA is wasted here, essentially being fed to Mario. it'd take a crazy WOW effort to beat GTA - any antivotes it may have gotten will get doubled by Warcraft's. I've got SSB over Sonic and then a SFF-fest in the finals. Ultima Division Final Fantasy Diablo Mario Kart Mega Man Street Fighter The Elder Scrolls Resident Evil Shadow Hearts Mario Kart vs. Mega Man is brutal. I'm taking Mega Man right now, but I might change due to the whole Nintendofaqs thing. RE beats Street Fighter rather convincingly and gets destroyed by Final Fantasy. overall, not a very good bracket. it could be a lot, lot harder than it is. --- xyzzy |

With this contest not happening until July there is a posibility that
the Character contest doesnt start until September, which puts a pretty
obvious Cloud over Link pick by me in serious doubt depending on when

It's hard to take Mega Man when none of this games made the Best. Game. Ever. contest. Lopen actually I got the completely opposite impression. I think this

It's hard to take Mega Man when none of this games made the Best. Game. Ever. contest. We have not seen a Mario Kart game either. People always say that Mega Man has so many people with different favorites that its strength/ability to get into the contest would be split because of that. I think taking MK > MM is a very foolish thing to do. No one can
really agree on what the best MM is, and as a result we've never been
able to really get a track on the games. With them all combined as one,
I see MM being one of the stronger series in this entire contest, in
fact I'm calling a 4th place finish for it behind the big 3. You may
call me crazy, but if it went up against Metal Gear, I think I would

have that kind of strength. Uh ... what? People don't have to be confused in the slightest. It doesn't look like he'll be doing anything to specify what type of series it is either. Mega Man is a huge franchise, especially the old games. If you are worried about that, it doesn't look like CJayC is going to bother putting (original) next to the series, which means people are going to see "Mega Man v. Lopen, you seem to just want to feed LOZ and FF fodder since no one can
beat them. While that sounds smart from a challenge stand point, you
cant do it in a practical standpoint. You are going to have to have
atleast a few mid/high major series in their 8 packs. I think its good that SMB, SSB, Metal Gear, Halo, KH, Sonic, DMC escaped it as I see them as Series 3-9. Only then do I see Mario Kart, Mega Man Series, and Metroid coming in. --- Where am I? |

SMB is old... are you saying it's not going to finish number 3? Super Mario Bros.'s lifespan is ~1985-2007+. I believe the last Mega Man game came out in 1993. Plus, any one of Mario's games would kill any of Mega's. No Mega Man game ever shook the industry. Mario's done it... four times? --- Board 8: Where Wii treat each other right. |

I think it's pretty safe to say that people who like mega man X but
haven't played mega man or gonig to vote for both annd vice versa. I
think both of them being in the contest may impede this a bit, but not

Civilization is a popular enough series to hold it's own in at least a
somewhat respectable manner, and shadow hearts should have enough of a
cult following to pull out the votes needed to avoid complete
