Indeed it is. I really MIGHT have considered Knuckles as a sexy upset
pick if not for the fact that he had ranked below Tidus in 2004 (I
believed that Magus was overrated and he couldn't have fallen below
where Tidus was). Plus, I'm of the mindset that Knux boosted anyway

yeah, I agree with that. Magus didn't fall as far as people thought -
he still is projected to get about 47% on Squall and 46% on Vincent;
ie, equivalent with Dante. yeah, the Magus > Snake and Sonic talk is
all gone, but he's still a pretty nice midcarder. --- xyzzy |

Yeah, he's no longer considered a Noble Nine breaker, but he still has some strength. Don't get me wrong. Seeing one of my favorite characters ever put Magus
in his place was awesome (though I still wanted the personal
satisfaction of Squall beating Magus himself), but I would've loved to

nah, the board (or at least the stats topic) knew Magus was somewhat
overrated, they just didn't know how much. yeah, some people would have
taken Magus, but it would have been like 75% Sonic. getting 0/150 picks

Well, perhaps seeing Snake do it would've been better because I believe
Magus would've been the favorite there due to Snake's awful year in

I wouldn't have done it. I think something went screwy in Snake's face
blasted in matchup with Mega Man. Seeing Zero directly outperform Snake
against Mega Man was a warning sign (I would have hyped up Zero >
Snake of course, but I wouldn't have actually taken
that pick). The main thing was that bringing Snake up would have
brought Master Chief, Liquid Snake, and Frog up even more. But I think

nah, Squall is pretty liked here. look at the board contests that he
wins or comes close to winning here. he just has some very vocal

More vocal detractors than Knuckles has. I don't know of anybody who
openly hates him. When Knux was winning, very few people were upset on
the board. Most were going crazy over the upset. It would not have

oh, Knuckles is flat-out loved here. the only people that dislike
Knuckles are those who can't stand the "Sonic fanboys" we have here. I

The only people that don't like Knuckles are the kiddies
new to the series who don't like that Knuckles had "rap" music in the

Now Sega's doing it to Knuckles. Having rap music doesn't tarnish Knux though... <_< It's his personality in the Adventure games that really did it. He just seemed incredibly boring. oh it's definitely an upset, but not nearly as big outside of board
8 as it is here. the BOP went like 0 for 150, right? 1 in 3 is a lot
better than we did, that's for sure. As far as character contests go, that's still the biggest first-round upset we've ever seen site-wide (it's not behind Vivi/DK in upsetting people like Leonhart said, since 35.13% > 35.08%...they're very even though), and -- as already mentioned -- nobody in the BOP got it right for the first time ever. Given that the people on this board tend to do better than the rest, nobody in the BOP getting it right was a massive blow. Add to it that Magus was expected by many to get to the Elite Eight or Sweet Sixteen, and I dare say it was the most devastating upset since Cloud > Link. --- Miss my Four-Pack Of Fun? Halo/Starcraft is the biggest first round upset in my mind. lowest
prediction percentage, 1/16, huuuuge votals, better match.. I'll take
that one, even though some people saw it coming. again, if we don't

ah, well I'll agree there then, it's the biggest first round upset. I
took Vivi and didn't think twice about it, so I never thought of it as
much of an upset. I wasn't on the board though until the actual contest

Yeah, I had Vivi too...but purely by being blind; when I found out Vivi
was the favorite amongst FF9 fans, I remember immediately switching
from DK to Vivi, and I did this knowing nothing else about Vivi. Not

I took Vivi and didn't think twice about it, so I never thought of it as much of an upset. Same here. I was surprised that so few people took Vivi. I would guess Super Mario (series) vs. The Legend of Zelda (series) or something like that. I doubt he'd be much more specific. if he doesn't put (series) in parentheses though, I'm wondering how people will vote. if you get a picture of Mario vs. Crono, Mario and Chrono as the poll options and Best. The poll should be labeled "Series Contest" and he'll have a Series
Contest banner, if last year is any indication. Unless people don't pay

I'm still weighing that as a factor in my bracket. Like I've said
before, I think GTA could potentially beat MGS if people considered
them as a series. But if it ends up being a pic of Solid Snake (+Naked
Snake/Raiden/Ocelot/Grey Fox) against Vercetti or CJ, I'd almost have
to take Metal Gear. I think how the series is represented can play a
factor in the results. Hopefully Ceej will take it into detail and make

Really, I hope the pictures all end up looking something like the FFVII/OoT one: http://www.gamefaqscontests.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=3&pos=58 Or this particular CT/FFVII pic: http://www.gamefaqscontests.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=3&pos=63 At least having pics encompassing the game as a whole vs. having a singular character represent the game. I definitely don't want to have anymore Tidus vs. SSBM type pictures. It all matters on how much Ceej is willing to put into the pictures, or whether or not he will let the pics be user made from the start. I had a cool idea for a Mario Vs. Sonic one last year. Oh, the pictures that were made by the guy at GFASCII? Yeah, they were
