Character Battle V will likely start in September. By the time Link might
actually require a little booster shot to win the whole thing, it will

The thought of the Character Battle starting that late makes me sad.
That means I won't get to stay up for the start of ANY matches because

I imagine every student here trembles at the thought, but it's the most
realistic prediction we can make. This contest will probably end in
mid-July. That gives CJayC six weeks to put up the nominations, the
bracket, and get the contest started. As history has shown us, he'll

Summer Contests used to start in July and ran through the first days of

I remember specifically in 2k3 that Magus/Fisher had their match on the
4th of July, mainly because there was a glitch in the poll where there

"Launching of the next bracket battle"? Does this signify a launch of the bracket and prediction period, or the contest actually starting? If he announces it on Monday it could start on Saturday. That'll be the 10th... meaning it'll finish on the 10th of July. This might well end in October, which would suck ass. "CJay, you bought an N-Gage, didn't you?" Yes, I did. Stop laughing, it was free. I needed a new cell phone at the time, so I figured what the heck. The only game of note on the system I ever actually played was Worms Armageddon, but even that gets old after a while. I definitely need a new phone, but I just haven't found one I like yet. You know...I just realized something. Outside of the big two, Link has
NEVER faced another Final Fantasy character. He's faced the two big
names from Chrono Trigger (one of which led to an infamous
overperformance). Cloud and Sephy have faced their fair share of
Nintendo characters, but yet Link's resume of Final Fantasy characters
is rather thin. I wonder if he would over- or underperform against

You can blame that on Link repeatedly getting SFF-fest after SFF-fest.
Hell, Link vs. Crono was about the first time we saw him face somebody significant
outside of Nintendo other than Cloud/Seph. And then the next year, he
gets stuck in the ToC. That's one reason why I wasn't really a fan of
the ToC. Even though the outcome is guaranteed, I actually enjoy seeing how people measure up to Link and Cloud. We've already seen good things come out of it, prediction-wise. Even if it doesn't help that specific contest as far as difficulty, an underperformance or overperformance on one of those two can definitely alter brackets in following years *coughmaguscough*. --- Nominate Carmen Sandiego for SC2k6 Currently playing: KH2, MGS3:S, GTA:SA, MMAC (wow, my PS2 is actually getting play!) |

The reason why I don't like the idea of the ToC is that I enjoy seeing
Link and Cloud throw blowouts at each other in a "beat that" sort of

I know. I enjoyed Snake/Tanner a lot more than I do something like Crono/Tom Nook. It'll be really hard to keep up the Tournament of Champions without
turning the main bracket into a joke. Hopefully, that'll be all we see

I know this is a talk that we haven't had in a while, but...what about the possibility of Ceej retiring Link? I'd say that there's a slim chance of it happening.
