Heh, I remember that poll being the source of many "Sigma will be
stronger than Wily" proponents (of which I was unfortunately one). But who actually likes Sigma? When had you seen somebody talk about how awesome Sigma was? He was pretty much a thorn in your side throughout the series. I don't think there was anything possibly likeable about him until "Day of Sigma" on MHX. But yeah, with situations like that, you start to veer off in determining why a character should be popular and forgetting to take into consideration whether or not said character is popular. I like Sigma. I mean, he uses a freakin' lightsaber...how cool is that? And Ganondorf is easily my favorite Nintendo character. Not every FF beat every Zelda...Majora's Mask managed to outdo FFIX in North America. So really, all we have is FFVII > OoT and FFX > WW. I wouldn't bet on FFXII > TP, especially since TP should be > MM. Oh, and here's something amusing I just noticed: Super Smash Bros N64 Nintendo 1.97 2.93 0.65 5.55 Metal Gear Solid PS Konami 0.70 2.81 2.00 5.51 Sales in millions, going Japan America Europe Total. They're just about even in the US and worldwide. The original SSB would
be pretty damn strong in a contest setting anyway; I don't think anyone

I just thought it was interesting, especially since everyone was saying
that SSBM was so much stronger than SSB. SSBM hadn't even sold more
copies until last year, so it's not as if their fanbases overlap
completely. And I think you'll agree that there's a big difference between Pokemon and SSB. --- Pity for the guilty is treason to the innocent. |

I was talking more on a worldwide scale concerning Final Fantasy and Zelda. And unless SSB is SSBM's equal, I don't think MGS has any trouble beating it. I almost see no point in including SSB in a contest if SSBM is going to
be in the same contest, personally. Though if SSB did get into the

Heh, I picked Xenogears without a second thought. Of course, I am
incredibly biased... but I had faith that GameFAQs recognized the
awesomeness of Xenogears. Plus I figured there was an anti-Pokemon

I took Xenogears without much thought due to the anti-Pokemon sentiment as well. Ah, Division 32/64 still stands as my only perfect division ever, I believe, other than 8x8 divisions, which don't quite count in my book. I remember the uproar on the boards by Mega Man fans before they realized that there was another pic. Although it was argued that Link had the advantage in the HYPAAAAAAAAHHHHH pic, with him getting roasted. Oh, nevermind. I got the 2004 20XX Division all correct as well. Ah, Tidus/Shadow, still my crowning achievement. Mega Man's "advantage" picture was pretty crappy. And then to top it
all off, he goes and gets beat worse than projected. I had high hopes

Now that I think about it, it's pretty amazing that Tidus/Shadow still
ended up close like the stats predicted despite BOTH of them behing

I was about to go make it... but go for it, mnm. I too took Xenogears on blind hope and lucked out. best contest result ever! I don't think we have any way of knowing how people are going to vote. if people vote based on their favourite game in the series, Chrono is a beast; if they vote based on number of solid titles, something like MGS or GTA will impress. I don't know if we can even argue the point until we see the first debatable match. personally, I don't expect people to put a lot of thought into it - "Chrono vs. GTA... oh man, I loved Chrono Trigger!" click. in fact, I wonder if some people will even know that they're voting based on the series. if there's a poll asking Super Mario Bros. vs. The Legend of Zelda, are they even going notice it's a best series ever poll? --- xyzzy |

Maybe he'll throw "series" after each of them. I think he might realize
the problem in something like that, but maybe not. I do expect him to

whether or not it's a good account name doesn't really matter to me - I
know you as mnm and will continue to call you that no matter what
