Sonic/Mega Man was very bad in terms of premature calling as well.

well, at least Mega Man had a decent lead on Sonic. it still wasn't justified, but it was better than six votes.

Cloud will take the day vote against Link!

Speaking of this, I am so happy that we get a character contest this year over a games contest. I estatic about Cloud winning this year. Unless, of course, that blasted Super Princess Peach helps Link!

Plus is Squall was making a comeback or in the lead it was OMFG IT'S OVER SQUALLS WINNER. Then Vincent would make a comeback or take the lead and it was all OMFG IT'S OVER VINCENTS WINNER. It was the most spineless thing I've ever seen.

Simple Explanation of Extrapolated Standings:
A = Strongest Character
B = Character Weaker than A
C = Character Weaker than B
To figure out a character's Xsts Percentage ---> [(CvB)(BvA)]/50 = CvA
To compare how C would do against B ---> [(CvA)/(BvA)]*50 = CvB
To figure out how B would do against A ---> [(CvA)/(CvB)]*50 = BvA

Solid Snake beating Samus? Oh come on, it's not like Samus won't get a boost from her game either, Solid Snake won't get a boost big enough to beat Samus.. and Mario? That's even more crazy. He's getting new games as well.

XD

Coping yo's bracket is the most technically sound thing anyone can do for these contests. You're guaranteed a top 10 finish, and if you're lucky, you can beat him in the tiebreaker and laugh at his undeserved misfortune!

Eh, I probably wouldn't copy it either. Why copy yoblazer when I can predict such crazy things as Luigi over Tifa and Ryu over Sonic!?

yoblazer, who wins: Snake or Samus?
---
xyzzy
Adept of Aiur | Posted 5/12/2006 5:25:03 PM | message detail
For the record, I would take Samus in a heartbeat. The time leading up to that decision might be pretty long, but the actual act of picking Samus? Heartbeat.

Seriously though, Metroid Prime 3 being a launch title for Wii means more people will buy it than would normally buy a Metroid title.

TP is a Wii launch title, yes. But I see people buying two or three games when they buy the system since it's probably going to "only" cost $250, as opposed to 4 or 600.

You guys flatter me. Seriously. It's mainly about lucking out when it comes to to the finals and other big-point matches, and that's something I've had some success with. If you correctly predict the two finalists and the contest winner, you've already gained half the points of a perfect bracket.

I'll say the only contest where my confidence was high throughout was Sp2K5. Everything else has just been about biting my nails and hoping to catch some luck. =)

I bet it has sales on par with Metroid Prime, but nothing that is mind blowing at all. It would be an improvement over Metroid Prime 2, but it is going to be overshadowed by Twilight Princess and other games. Metroid has never really been that big of a seller ...

Agreed. When it comes down to it, a lot of people here have kickass contest records when it comes to win-loss.
