Echoes? That game's been out for a while now and sold pretty badly. I think you mean Hunters. MP3 is supposed to be a launch title though. --- Some stories can't be told by words. Some legends are meant to die. Knowing your enemy is the quickest path to victory. |

I think Samus gets a new Metroid. Granted MGS4 >>> MP3, but
meh. Anyway, the only real argument that you have is Samus won't
experience a boost from SSB:B as she's already appeared in the other
ones, while Snake will experience a much larger one because not only
has he not appeared in SSB:B, he hasn't been in an original game on a
Nintendo console in years, or a fighting game. A game as huge as SSB:B

Let's see ... that's about 5% from a brand-new Metal Gear Solid game
that came out of E3 as one of the most anticipated games, is likely to
sell a ridiculous amount of copies when it releases, would be Solid
Snake's return to the lead role in a few years, and, uh, looks

Before I make a quick exit to go pick me up some food ... also, remember that there's Echoes and MP3 to contend with, with MP3 probably coming out before SSB from what I've heard. I will wager that Hunters, which I now know is what you're referring to, does not provide Samus with very much in the way of a boost. Metroid Prime 3 should help her out, too, but I will again wager that it is not anywhere near as significant as Metal Gear Solid 4 will be to Solid Snake. Heroic Mario and I discussed what possible effect it would have if

The only way I see Snake killing himself is if he first kills Liquid...
which I fully expect to happen, otherwise I could see him dying and
Liquid not, just not him actually killing himself, so either way I

my opinion on the SSBB "boost" is that it will help Snake in matches
that don't involve Nintendo characters. when it comes to Samus or Mario
though, it'll be an entire series vs. an appearance in SSBB. I'll wager
that the average Nintendo fan will stick with Metroid or Mario. --- xyzzy |

why hello there! *is cyko on borrowed account* i could not have picked a worse time for my cpu to explode (it literally did have smoke coming out of it.....) - so, yeah i haven't been on GameFAQS for about two weeks. so here's my brief input - - two summer contests? awesome. it does seem like Ceej picked a lousy time to introduce a contest, it must've been overshadowed by E3. - Best Series Ever - outside of the big three (Zelda, Mario, FF) i think most series are going to perform about as well as their games did in Spring2K4. i dunno if anyone else posted this same opinion alrerady, but meh. it sure seemed like the 8-bit and most of the 16-bit games were voted upon based on their series recognition. - E3 - Nintendo is quite possibly having the best E3 of any system. EVER. and that's before my fanboyism kicks in. >_> - Snake in Smash Bros.! - i laugh because as soon as i heard that, i thought, "holy crap! Snake is definitely gonna get a boost in contest strength!!" then i realized that i am way too hooked on these contests. (c'mon, i know i'm not the only one who thought that.....) of course, most of any boost won't take place until '07. i do think the hype could help him a bit, but nothing too significant. but after SSBB and MGS4 come out, here's how i see the Noble Nine: Link Cloud Sephiroth Mario Solid Snake Samus Megaman Sonic Crono that's right. if Chrono Trigger doesn't get re-released or get a sequel (which it very well could, knowing Square) and the rest of the Noble Nine moving into the next generation and exposure to new audiences, Chrono is going to become less and less well-known - especially as more younger gamers who wore born after CT was released wander to GameFAQS. --- MAD CADDIES!!! |

I can't see Mega Man beating Sonic this year. Sonic Rush + next-gen Sonic hype (it won't help a ton, but it can't hurt) = Bad News for Mega Man. In 2007, assuming both new Sonic games are out... I'd say match-to-match variation is as much of a factor as anything
else. Sonic could easily have won if there was a rematch the next day. I haven't seen anyone talk about STH for months though. --- xyzzy |

A lot of people have come away from E3 very impressed by what Sonic is
doing in the future. I believe the President of Sega of America
commented on how next-gen Sonic is more about bringing him back to the
days when he was "cool," and less of this "kiddy" image that he has had
more recently. But I would say that Sonic could beat Mega Man this year
with no problem without having anything. The match was just that close

I wasn't surprised that Sonic lost, though I picked him. It was one of
my big upset specials. Squall winning the Devil Division was another

| Sonic will slaughter Mega Man in 2007 unless MM gets some amazing new game. Both Sonic Wild Fire and Sonic the Hedgehog have been getting great reviews at E3 and both look to bring Sonic back to form. |

match that she's been in. It is not so much that Samus has been unimpressive in her contest matches, but that Solid Snake is going to be getting something monstrous in his favor -- SSBB and MGS4.
