I doubt it, but even if Snake ends up going 1% people will be saying
it's what contributed to it, which I don't buy, a 1% fluctuation from

Err... that was in regards to Leon's post about him boosting this year. And I kind of forgot about Subsistence, but even then I don't think it'll do much as it's just MGS3 + online. I think the real question is if seeing Snake in the trailer will change
a single thing. as far as 2006 goes, Snake hasn't really had anything

Yeah tranny, 2007 not 2008. Anyway, I think Snake will be able to be #6
when all of this is said and done. I'm confident Mario and Samus will
still be able to beat him, I'll say he has an outside shot at Samus
however, which is odd, because I think Samus would beat Crono harder

I happen to think the former two will end up being more benefical to Snake over SMG and NSMB will to Mario. you think they're going to launch that soon? MGS4 might come out in the summer, but I thought SSBB was coming out near the end of 2007? I'm pretty confident in Metal Gear Solid 4 releasing that soon at the least. Nintendo just commented that SSBB has been moved back to 2007 from its launch title status. Mage beat me to it about Mario's upcoming games. MP3 is supposed to be a launch game too, correct? Assuming MGS4 and SSBB are out by the 2007 contest, I don't see Solid Snake getting above 6th. Snake has been getting releases pretty consistently over the past couple of years, and yes, they DO sway middle of the road, "I like both" voters, but SMG + NSMB = Mario revival. If Advent Children and KHII hadn't come out this year, I'd take Mario over Sephiroth in 2007. I think Solid is getting the better deal here...though one shouldn't
forget Mario is also in SSBB, heh. More importantly, when both of them
have such great deals, you could also consider Solid Snake getting
42.79% last year against Mario. MGS3:S should boost him just a lil' bit
this year and Mario should gain more from NSMB this year than
Solid...but then in 2007, it's SSBB-newcomer/MGS4 VS SSBB-staple/SMG. I
think Solid has the better deal between 2k6 and 2k7, but considering
the gap between the two every year including their head-to-head match
last year, I don't think Solid Snake can overcome that when Mario's

I hope you didn't mention MP3 in a way to say that Samus is still going to beat Snake ... I happen to think you're wrong. Snake has been getting releases pretty consistently over the past couple of years, Metal Gear Solid 3 and ... ? Solid Snake has not gotten anything in years. There have been Metal Gear Solid games that have released that have come out, and they certainly have helped him, but Metal Gear Solid 4 is him returning to the lead role. And you would have to be kidding me to think Mario has not gotten and yes, they DO sway middle of the road, "I like both" voters, but SMG + NSMB = Mario revival. Mario revival my ass. That is ridiculous. If Advent Children and KHII hadn't come out this year, I'd take Mario over Sephiroth in 2007. As it stands, he will be the unquestioned 4th best in 2007, and might give Sephy a run for his money. I will bet he isn't the unquestioned "4th best," because that is where Snake will be, in 2007 and that he won't give Sephiroth a run for his money. Mario is getting not one, but two new Mario platformers
between now and next year. The last Mario platformer released was in
2k2, and Mario beat Cloud with it behind him. Snake's not making up an
8% gap when Mario's getting his first console platformer in (what will

Well, it was bound to happen eventually because it doesn't look like
Crono's going to get another game for a long, long time, if ever. At

I'm not calling for MM > Crono just yet, Sonic either. I'm holding
out my judgement on Sonic for how well/good his new games do/are. And
unless they really do
revitalize the series I'll be taking Crono over the two, but I truly
believe you're foolish if you don't think Sonic could take Crono in
