Oh, and Mario vs FF is just as interesting as Zelda vs FF in my
opinion. Although I think FF will win now that Kingdom Hearts 2 is out,

FF vs. Zelda. IMO there is no question that zelda would beat mario.

If Twilight Princess came out right as the contest started, I'd pick it
as the winner. But only then; FF has far too large of a fanbase on

I hate how everyone is using the old topic. WTF. And for the hell of it, my nomination list so far. Prince of Persia Metal Gear Solid Streets Of Rage Diablo Super Smash Bros. Donkey Kong Country Warcraft Also, I think I might have picked Zelda if I didn't believe KHII will cause a voter shift. Because honestly, Final Fantasy mostly draws from 7 as we all know, and Zelda OoT. However I think there are a lot more Zelda fans who prefer other Zelda over OoT moreso than there are FF fans who prefer another FF over 7. Sure there's some of them, but I don't think it's as widescale as Zelda. If TP was out I'd instapick Zelda. If Wind Waker had have been better
I'd instapick Zelda. Right now I'm leaning towards FF, but I'm really

Zelda not having a shot against Final Fantasy? Crazy talk! We already
know that LttP had a strong lead on the second most popular FF pre-Boost.
And FF6's stock certainly didn't rise after those Top Ten results went
public. 7's still the king, sure, but I'm not seeing enough support
from the other titles to put FF way out in front of a series that draws

1) LoZ:LttP has a smaller lead on FF3/6 than FF7 has on LoZ:OoT. Going
by x-stats, the original FF gets nearly 47% on the original LoZ, and
FFX gets 49.43% on LoZ:WW, which was behind Starcraft (thus, I don't
trust it). There's of course the other LoZ/FF games too, but they
didn't make the 2k4 bracket... 2) ...so I'll bring out the Top 100 List and mention all their games: Final Fantasy - FF7 at #1, FF3/6 at #10, FFX at #12, FF8 at #17, FF9 at #42, FF2/4 at #50 Legend of Zelda - LoZ:OoT at #2, LoZ:LttP at #4, LoZ at #30, LoZ:WW at #45, LoZ:MM at #46 Looking at the games that made the bracket, it looks complex, but looking at the games that didn't give a nice perspective for those supporting FF to win it all (though certainly not the single-most accurate way). FF8 smokes LoZ:MM (and safely outdoes LoZ as well) and FF9 beats it too, while FF2/4 isn't far behind it. Also, to note, I make no mention of the FFT games up above, but I wouldn't rule out FF fans thinking of it when they vote considering FFT got #19 and FFTA got #89. 3) KH2 and FF:AC are most likely bringing in enough of a Square influx to seal FF > LoZ. Zelda does have a massive shot against Final Fantasy. I have to say this contest will be different for the reason below. Remember, it's not just ONE game but rather ALL games. Meaning the Zelda fanbase; everything from LTTP to Majora's Mask will be compacted into one force. It will be that against FF which includes everything from FF2 to FF7. So, let's just look at the bigger picture. --- Today's superliminal thought is: GO OILERS GO! |

Fantasy's. I don't think there's anyone who really dislikes or is
indifferent to FF7 and loves others. I do think that's the case with
OoT and the Zelda series though. Anyway, I'm still favoring FF, but to

People are talking about their Zelda arguments like the Zelda games
have that much of a diverse fanbase. Even if the individual Zelda games
are more popular than their FF counterparts outside of 7, it doesn't
mean that the Zelda games combined are stronger. For instance, I don't see a whole lot of people who like MM that don't like OoT enough to not vote for it or vice versa. You see much more distinction between the FF fanbases. I don't think there's anyone who really dislikes or is indifferent to FF7 and loves others. *raises hand* I'd vote LoZ over FF anyway, but think they're both as diverse as a single genre series can be. I think it mostly depends on the thought process of the voter: is it "I like FFVII more than any Zelda" or is it "LttP and OoT I like more than FFVII and FFVI?" Either way, Zelda's at a disadvantage just because of VII's sheer popularity, but the second option puts it in at least a winnable match. --- Mustache...and green... |

I seriously feel that Mega Man could be the ace in the hole of this contest. For SpC2K4 and WC2K5, Mega Man got snubbed, but fairly, as gamers can't come to a consensus on the best game. They're all pretty close/similar/very good. So, here you have all 8 Mega Man games into one. I'm sure you can name at least 3 Final Fantasies you don't like. Maybe 1 or 2 Zelda games. Probably at least 4 Mario games, just because they're so frigging many. Does anyone really hate any of the Mega Man ga-*JUMP! JUMP! SLIDE!
