So 2005 tells you that Mario could SFF Sonic when he couldn't SFF Shadow?
Let's not go by the characters = games stuff here. It just wouldn't happen. Mario might be stronger than he was then, but he still won't slaughter Sonic.

Oh, so you go by Ulti's definition of "slaughtered." Be mindful that Sonic is stronger in 2005 than he was in 2004, too.

The only difference is that I was arguing against an SFF-slaughtering
on the scale of Mario World/Sonic 2. You're just arguing that Mario
would win soundly. I have nothing against that.

Mario wouldn't slaughter Sonic at all. Sonic is a specific case where
games =/= character. Most people here would admit that the Mario games
are better than the Sonic games. That's commonplace for the most part.
But as far as CHARACTERS are concerned, I would think that Sonic is far
stronger than his games. Sonic is more adored for his character and
video game icon status moreso for his individual games. I believe he
could give Mario a decent fight, although he won't even come close to
making a close match out of it.

I still say that Sonic vs Mario could very well have RSFF in Sonic's
favor. Even though 2k4 Mario was way weaker than 2k5 I think his match
with Shadow proved that somethings odd with the Sonic/Mario fanbase.

Shadow ought to reenter, given a 4-6 seed if using a division of 16. That ought to make for a couple of interesting matches.
