Board 8: Where people treat each other right.
From: ChichiriMuyo | Posted: 1/29/2006 12:21:36 AM | Message Detail
Matches I'd have to think about for more than 5 seconds....

North

8. Diablo
9. Tails

3. Sora
14. Vincent Valentine

Kirby vs. Sora/Vincent

1. Link
2. Cloud

East

8. Sub-Zero
9. Scorpion

5. Knuckles
4. Yoshi

3. Crono
2. Samus

South

5. Kefka
12. Ness

Bowser vs. Squall

West

5. Zero
12. Aeris

6. Tidus
11. Auron

Tifa/Auron/Tidus

1. Sonic
2. Solid Snake

And that's all folks, the final four is unbelievably predictable. Link/Cloud smashes Sephiroth, Mario beats Sonic (small chance of that being snake) and Link/Cloud smashed Mario worse than Sephiroth. The entire contest hinges on 13 matchs. The end.

Well, *shrugs* if good old char knew it has absolutely 0 relevance now why bother? That said, I still think he wastes the potential of almost every single newcommer in the whole thing, which is something I cannot abide. the majority of those comments still stand, other than "WTF, rematch?" showing up what, 3-4 times?

The only way to have a Final 4 that isn't "unbelievably predictable" right now is with potential Crono/Samus and Sonic/Snake matches, both of which that bracket includes. I guess you could do Mega Man/Sonic, but we saw that LAST YEAR!

And I think you could justify setting one of those up to be a final four match. While I believe Link/Cloud is deserving of a finals match (since they are, you know, the two strongest) I'd rather see them as a final 4 match than an elite 8 match. That's just a friggin slap in the face. Then again, I'd sacrifice the fianl 4 if the rest of it made some god damn sense (this being a fan-bracket I expect real difficulty, which is pretty well lacking from the above sc2k5 excluded).

Also, that picture him him poor quality. The Shadow Hearts CGI was not the best representation of him. A covenant pic would be better.

Freewebs can be ass with fonts, especially when copied from Word. I'll try fixing it the best I can.

The last two Mario/Cronos.

Then again, it was the only rematch where the first one was close to begin with. You're comparing this with the Megaman/Snakes and Snake/Knuckles of the world.

I don't doubt that there was SFF in Snake/Sora, but I'm not going to go all consolefreak trolling style about it.

Only because he was trolling the hell out of the topic, to the point where he was actually trying to drive people out of it. I figured I could just rile him up a little and then go show a mod what he was actually doing. Worked like a charm.

Seriously, I never trolled about it. And I don't recall ever getting mod back then either.

Also, drive people out of it? Why would I want to do that? If I recall correctly, I went sarcastic on KH once. Maybe you missed that.

Good.

Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Super Mario Kart series, Super Mario RPG, Mario Golf, Mario Tennis, Super Princess Peach...

She isn't just simply the damsel in distress. She may not be the series namesake, but she plays a more active role than Zelda.

there was a lot more to Sony's dominance than Crash. In fact I'd have to say he played the smallest role and gets rememered because he was just around at the rigth time. Think X-Pac. Twisted Metal, FF7, Tomb Raider, and RE all played bigger parts in the early years of the PS1.

I think when predicting I thought Crash would be the third or fourth strongest in the division behind Sonic and Sephiroth (and maybe Mega Man). As for rankings I think this is how I had it.

Sonic
Sephiroth
Crash
Mega Man
Tidus
Samus
Ryu
Ken
Ms. Pac-Man
Claire

The rest is a little fuzzy

After giving it some thought, I really want Solid Snake to face off against either Cloud or Sephiroth this year. His past performances against Squall and Sora indicate that, aside from the FFVII crew, he is possibly viewed as Mr. Playstation. As the only lower-tier Noble 9er to have never met Clinkeroth, it's his time to get initiated anyway, but I wouldn't be surprised if Snake overperformed against the FFVII juggernauts, especially Sephiroth.

He's had one match against a FFVII character. Even though it occurred four long years ago, Snake managed an impressive 56.5% against Aeris. I agree that if anything, he's more likely to get SFF'D and underperform, but I also feel there's a possibility he could surprise some people.

I don't know about Mega Man...I'll boldly agree with ya, though barely. I guarantee MC would have more bracket-support than Sonic though, for what it's worth.

Think X-Pac.

It's as if my memory went from black-n-white to colorful and 3D. Heh, that's almost exactly what Crash was like.

Eh...nah. Magus had enough support to get a 3 seed, I don't think he'll drop out without a cap. Aeris at least had only two 11 seeds to give credence to her snubs.

i might as well make a predicition as well. With Ninja gaiden black, DOA4, and old school ninja gaiden fans combined ryu will be much stronger this year.

Love to think so, but highly doubt it. He's still mainly confined to the XBox, so I think at best he'll be a Master Chief lite with the advantage of being a ninja.
