I r winnar? lolz.

Though if you give a bit to those who weren't here for the first contest (you can't give much since that was simply the hardest to predict overall) I'm not doing that great.

50) Summer 2005 - Flood Round 3 - (1) Master Chief vs (2) Crono - 38.42%

26/39 not including 2k2. Should have been higher but I chose Tommy V. over Mega Man in 2k3 out of defiance over Mega Man losing to Sephiroth the year before. I knew Mega Man would get to Sephiroth, but I didn't think I had a chance of winning anyways, so I decided to make a statement.

I didn't make a 2k2 bracket in time, but if it were in time, these are the matches I would have gotten right:

5) Summer 2002 - Finals - (1) Mario vs (2) Link - 12.77%

This was the final I would have had. I took Link to win the whole thing since I considered Ocarina of Time to be the most popular game of all time at the time. I definitely felt that Link was more popular than Mario on here. I felt people were voting for Mario because they felt he "should" win, not that they actually liked him. Plus I'm a Link fan.

24) Summer 2002 - Final Four - (2) Link vs (7) Sephiroth - 30.63%

I would have had Link over Mega Man. Still would have gotten the points.

25) Summer 2002 - Final Four - (1) Mario vs (5) Crono - 30.96%

Had Mario getting to the Finals.

32) Summer 2002 - South Round 2 - (6) Bomberman vs (3) Jill Valentine - 32.45%

34) Summer 2002 - East Round 3 - (1) Lara Croft vs (5) Crono - 33.05%

I had zero faith in Lara Croft. I felt she got her seeding pretty much by being the PC 32-bit era icon, similar to how Pac-Man got a 1-seed. I knew it wasn't because of popularity.

35) Summer 2002 - South Round 2 - (5) Scorpion vs (4) Max Payne - 33.62%

No brainer...

So I would have had 32/50. Not bad... although I still can't seem to win a prize. =(

Here are the contests I remember clearly:

10) Spring 2004 - Division 128 Round 3 - (3) Final Fantasy X vs (2) SSBM - 14.83%
14) Spring 2004 - Division 128 Round 2 - (7) Vice City vs (2) SSBM - 22.03%
15) Summer 2004 - 20XX Round 2 - (6) Frog vs (3) Master Chief - 22.56%
16) Spring 2004 - Division 128 Round 1 - (1) Halo vs (16) Starcraft - 24.09%
18) Summer 2005 - Final Four - (2) Crono vs (1) Mega Man - 24.49%
20) Summer 2005 - Devil Round 2 - (1) Dante vs (5) Vincent - 25.14%
23) Spring 2005 - Ruin Round 2 - (6) M. Bison vs (2) Diablo - 30.13%
27) Summer 2005 - Quarterfinals - (2) Crono vs (5) Vincent - 31.17%
28) Summer 2005 - Quarterfinals - (1) Sonic vs (1) Mega Man - 31.25%
29) Summer 2004 - 20XX Round 4 - (1) Mega Man vs (2) Solid Snake - 31.34%
30) Summer 2004 - 20XX Round 2 - (5) Tommy Vercetti vs (4) Zero - 31.57%
39) Summer 2004 - Midgar Round 1 - (7) Vivi vs (10) Donkey Kong - 35.13%
40) Summer 2005 - Gear Round 2 - (6) Alucard vs (2) Sora - 35.13%
41) Spring 2005 - Triforce Round 2 - (3) Dr. Robotnik vs (7) Master Hand - 35.33%
44) Summer 2005 - Flood Round 1 - (3) Kefka vs (6) Tommy Vercetti - 37.66%
46) Summer 2005 - Dream Round 3 - (1) Kirby vs (3) Bowser - 38.18%
47) Summer 2004 - Hyrule Round 3 - (3) Crono vs (2) Mario - 38.31%
50) Summer 2005 - Flood Round 3 - (1) Master Chief vs (2) Crono - 38.42%

18/29 - I would have had two more if I'd gotten LttP/CT right - I knew that match would be a tossup, and I was right, but I picked it wrong.

I also had a bracket in 2003, and I think I got these matches right, but I can't remember for sure:

7) Summer 2003 - West Round 4 - (1) Solid Snake vs (2) Mega Man - 14.53%
13) Summer 2003 - Final Four - (2) Sephiroth vs (2) Mega Man - 21.73%
17) Summer 2003 - North Round 2 - (12) Ganondorf vs (13) Magus - 24.25%
26) Summer 2003 - West Round 3 - (3) Tommy Vercetti vs (2) Mega Man - 31.11%
33) Summer 2003 - South Round 4 - (1) Mario vs (2) Sephiroth - 32.76%
36) Summer 2003 - East Round 3 - (11) Aeris vs (2) Sonic - 33.76%
43) Summer 2003 - West Round 2 - (5) Ryu vs (4) Dante - 37.54%

25/38 total.

I'm pretty sure I had these - back in the first contest, I thought Sephiroth would be the most popular, and when I made my bracket in 2k3 I knew that he had only lost to Link. So I'm pretty sure I picked him to beat Mario and Mega Man. I had no respect for Ganondorf whatsoever, so I thought Magus would steamroll him (actually, I probably thought Tidus would steamroll him before losing to Magus). Ryu vs Dante seemed utterly obvious to me, I was surprised to learn that one was debated. And Aeris/Sonic was obvious.

All pre-existing bios are fully updated, and all Spring 2005 characters now have bios.

That leaves Summer 2002, Summer 2003 and Summer 2005 to go. I can get that done in two months :)

Let's see how well I did... assuming I remember properly and didn't screw any up... (I had to go to SC2K5.com to look at 2k2 and 2k3 to help me remember my entries)

6) Summer 2003 - Final Four - (1) Link vs (1) Cloud - 13.37%
7) Summer 2003 - West Round 4 - (1) Solid Snake vs (2) Mega Man - 14.53%
12) Summer 2002 - South Round 2 - (1) Pac Man vs (5) Scorpion - 17.33%

17) Summer 2003 - North Round 2 - (12) Ganondorf vs (13) Magus - 24.25%
19) Spring 2004 - Final Four - (1) Super Mario Brothers 3 vs (1) Chrono Trigger - 24.63%
21) Summer 2005 - Finals - (1) Mario vs (2) Crono - 26.17%

50) Summer 2005 - Flood Round 3 - (1) Master Chief vs (2) Crono - 38.42%

25/50. Unfortunately, that looks better than it is. Alot of those matches I missed were from really bad errors. Sonic vs Samus 2002? I had Ryu > Tidus. Sonic vs Aeris 2003? I had Ken offing Sonic in round 1 (though I did have Aeris > Ken). Me underestimating Sonic and overestimating Street Fighter bit me in the ass twice before I learned. Heh heh.

A couple of things about that Robotnik page.

First, part of that IS my bio. My name's nowhere on there.

And while you're changing that, here's the REAL quote. (I just played through the game to confirm it)

"Farewell Sonic, my admirable adversary." - Robotnik, shortly after launching Sonic into space and watching his capsule explode

Now, this may be just fanboyism talking, but I think something odd happened between Ganon/Robotnik. Robotnik wouldn't survive in a real contest, for sure, but there's no way he would lose to CATS, or Ansem. Sin's at least a major part of FFX, and Ansem only shows up later on. Robotnik's as recognizable in the gaming world as Sonic is, and I'm willing to bet he would beat Dr. Wily if the two went against each other. Wily's done squat since Mega Man 8, while Robotnik fights to this day. I'd draw the line against Kefka, but there's no way Robotnik's as weak as the stats show.

Yes, I'm somewhat of a fanboy, but I stand by my word. >_>

I completely forgot to double check my Word file. Sorry about forgetting you :(

Anyway, fixed. Do you like the music I picked?

I actually agree with this, but only somewhat. Robotnik didn't just disappoint against Ganon; he essentially bombed in three straight matches.

As for being lower than CATS and Ansem, blame Bacondorf underperforming due to Ansem'c pic being that much better.

I don't like to hear people complain about Ganon's pic in Ganon/Ansem; alot of people relate it to Solid's awful sprite pictures...but guess what?

Neither Metal Gear nor Metal Gear 2 are this site's #4 game.

I seriously doubt the picture is to blame for Ansem "over-performing", and if you use 2k3 values for MC/DK/Fisher, Face-CATS lines up with the four-pack fine.

You know, the more I read old stat topics, the more I want to think of SC2K5 as "The Validation of Solid Snake." Maybe it's bias, but it just seemed like Snake had so many obstacles in his way and so many doubters, and he finally broke through to the Final Four.

Also, it was the contest of "Squall/Knuckles > Magus" 500 posts.

Broke through? He was given a path to the Final Four and he nearly lost it to Bowser. Sure it was about validation, but I wouldn't consider Sora and Zelda to be major obstacles for a Noble Niner...

Given the treatment the remainder of the Dream division received, it's only fair that Bowser give Snake that sort of fight.

In fact, that quarter of the bracket was pretty much Snake and Bowser shooting more and more absurd performances at each other until they met.

People were calling for Snake loses multiple times throughout the contest, and he prove all the doubters wrong with a respectable loss to Mario.

And despite his absolutely terrible pic disadvantage to Bowser, he still came out victorious. It was thought by many to be the year when the Noble 9 would come to a close, Snake kept it going.

Except for the matches before their matchup. People seemed to have disregarded everything that happened before that round. Once Snake opened up that can of whoop ass on Sora, and the following match with Kirby giving Bowser a match, 95% of the topic basically went "lol Bowser has no chance! He won't even outperform Zelda!"

But Kirby was coming off giving Tidus the ass-kicking of a lifetime. I don't know why people thought that - why would anyone give any credit to Snake beating Sora worse than Samus did, I have only question marks for.

I don't doubt that there was SFF in Snake/Sora, but I'm not going to go all consolefreak trolling style about it. It all depends on how much stock you put into MGS2/3 in terms of their weight upon Snake's strength.

Oh, and Lloyd and Yuri have been bio'd.

I don't know about SFF in the traditional sense for that match. I may be the only one in this topic that still thinks that pictures can play a factor. I don't know about you guys, but outside of diehard Sora fans I don't see how anyone who knows anything whatsoever about MGS games could look at that match picture and not vote for Solid Snake...

That pic was even worse than Snake getting his face blasted by Mega Man in 2k4...

I agree with realmnm. Not that the picture is WORSE than Mega Man/Snake, but I do think it has much more of an effect with Snake/Sora than Mega Man/Snake.

But...I often wonder if Snake actually did underperform against Mega Man, even if a small (yet significant) amount? Because...you see, the next year Snake increased, Knuckles increased, and Kefka ended up nearly beating Vercetti. Of course, there's also plenty of evidence that wouldn't suggest that...

Only because he was trolling the hell out of the topic, to the point where he was actually trying to drive people out of it. I figured I could just rile him up a little and then go show a mod what he was actually doing. Worked like a charm.

To be honest, I actually agreed with his point. I can't think of anything else that went down in that match, and no way is Alucard that weak.

Well, Squall only managed 35% against Snake. I know there's NO way to measure Squall 2K2 aside from Snake vs. Squall itself, but maybe it's possible that Squall underperformed a bit against Snake, too? =P

Well I meant that Sora/Snake was worse for Sora than Mega Man/Snake was for Snake.

To tell you the truth, I always thought that Snake underperformed against Mega Man in 2k4. But I took the match and ran with it since one, it allowed people to take the focus off of Sonic being the weakest of the Noble Nine due to his bad match with Cloud, two, it made Zero look stronger than Snake, and three, it allowed me to promote my Bowser > Snake bandwagon. Not to mention using it to spite Snake for beating my favorite character 3 years in a row. Yes, those 4 characters are also my top 4 favorite characters. Sue me. <_<

BTW, Mega Man's prediction percentage went from 14.50% to 31.34% of the brackets. If you assume that a good chunk of those bracket-vote, that's a percent or two right there. Factor in face-blasted Snake and a slight drop in popularity (Knuckles DID perform better in 2k4) and you have your possible reasons right there for a Snake underperformance.

Here are some of my thoughts

North

5. Alucard
12. Zelda

4. Vivi
13. Princess Peach

Zelda/Vivi match and we all know how that went.

3. Sora
14. Vincent Valentine

I've never really gave Vincent much credit.

7. Sarah Kerrigan
10. Geno

Ew... the 7th and 8th strongest characters from the Devil Division battling it out. At least it would be interesting.

East

5. Knuckles
12. Zidane

4. Yoshi
13. Ryu Hayabusa

I still think Yoshi/Knux would be interesting.

South

5. Kefka
12. Ness

4. Revolver Ocelot
13. Pac-Man

lol Ocelot/Pac-Man. This could be the closest 4-pack ever.

6. Bowser
11. Ryu

v_v sigh

West

8. KOS-MOS
9. Carl Johnson

I made this so CJ could have an easy win, but he'll have to claw his way to win.

6. Tidus
11. Auron

3. Frog
14. Tifa

7. Ganondorf
10. Liquid Snake

2. Solid Snake
15. Serge

And you thought CJayC gave Snake a hard path.

Good bracket. There are one or two Nintendo/Square matches where it's really a judgement call (Bowser/Squall being the big one), but KH2 hype is pulling me slightly in Square's direction this year. I have the Final 4 occupied by all the 1 seeds, so no surprises there. My biggest disappointment with this particular bracket is the placement of Marth and Captain Falcon. They should be given an opportunity to prove themselves, not be fed to the Noble 9 at the start.

Board 8: Where people treat each other right.

It's a waste for chun to be a 16, if you want uber fodder there are better places to look.

Diablo/Tails has potential

Alucard/Zelda, not so much. ANd is there a reason we want a Zelda vs. Vivi rematch?

Dante/Kirby would send the board into fits. First the OMG, roffle my waffle sort and then OMG, this is the hardest match evar sort.

Sora/Vincent has potential, but I don't wnat to see what Cloud would do to either of them

Both are wasted slots, though Geno less so. I've been tellign you people Kerrigan was a waste for a couple years now, when will you learn?

Cloud in the same division as Link? Why not just have another ToC? It'd be half as lame and twice as effective.

East

New characters should not be in auto-lose slots. They are there to throw our math off, not to fill holes when you need someone to lose to Sephiroth. Also, see the above statement about Cloud and Link? Now you've gone double lame.

Subby should fight his own fights, if he is legitimately stronger than Scorp he'll prove it, otherwise we can assume the limit of MK is fairly low.

Zidane FTW? Maybe not, but he may prove to be closer to Magus than most think.

Everything else is boring 'til Crono/Samus. You wasted every noob on unwinnable matches and you threw together pathetically easy matched between multi-year competitors. Yay for brackets not made by you, I guess.

South

It's-a me, making the finals again even if-a I don't deserve it! Oh, and way to waste Meta Knight. I don't care for the character, but I wanted to point out you're wasting all of the newbs (minus subby) on matches they couldn't possibly win.

What a waste of two slots. Two villains contest losers with nothing to prove.

Kefka/Ness has potential. Rematches between Ocelot and Pac Man and Kefa and Pac Man do not.

And why must we see Bowser/Ryu AGAIN? It JUST happened.

Master Chief a 14 seed? Sure, after Goku, Wolverine, Mr. T and Jesus Christ take the 1 seeds.

Ugh, such a stupid match, and CATS will never get seeded higher than 16.

Falco, meet wasted potential (aka this bracket)

West

Whoa my god, Sonic will probably blow his shot at Mario again somewhow.

CJ is a waste, KOS probably is too at this point.

Should be a round 3 match, the likes of Aeris and Zero. rd 2 at worst.

OMG, Bomberman upsets Magus! :p Oh, and who ever wins the previous match has a bye in round 2, basically. Magus vs. Zero or Aeris was a good idea like, 2 years ago. Not so much anymore.

Tidus/Auron may be passable. Winner proabbly gets beaten soundly by Tifa.

Tifa wins. Wow. Why are we bringing Frog back when we know his potential is actually severely limited?

Ganon vs. Snake was a good idea befor ethe last contest. Like a number of others in your bracket, that's not the case anymore. Were you not here for the last contest of something?

Well, at least Serge isn't SFF'd out... unless Squall was in 2k2 (and Sora last year, maybe), in which case Serge is SFF'd out and we have no idea how he stands.
