Though of little relevance PoP has more than three games. He dates all the way back to the NES, in fact. That said, however, I've never thought he'd have even a decent shot in the contest. Basically, any character that wasn't in by 2k3 and didn't have more popular characters in the same game wasn't going to be a big hit. If more than two new characters crack the fodder line this year I'll be surprised.

The competition is rather weak. MMOs aren't popular here and FF11 probably got votes for name recognition alone. Basically, all of those games are the video game world equivalent of filler. You wouldn't back any of those ponies in a race with any real horses.

Actually, I'll take that back; a quick glance and a lil' bias had me speaking too quick. I'll say about 18.5%, which is between Kratos (assuming nothing went wrong in Solid/Sora) and unadjusted Riku.

So basically CATS is your fodder line, going by 2K5 number anyway. Intresting... I personally see him being slighly above Kratos' level, before The Two Thrones this wouldn't be so, but everyone who has played that game has absolutely loved it, I've yet to find someone who didn't. I know game =/= character, and so on, but I still think he could possibly win a match if placed in a lucky matchup, ala Ness vs. Carl Johnson.

I don't mind fodder at all, myself, as long as it's FUN fodder. I can't wait to see Phoenix Wright and Jay Solano in (assuming they make it)...just don't give me boring fodder we've seen alot (Sam Fisher for example, and don't bring up the unadjusted stats to me...another example being the late Ryo Hazuki).

To be fair, GoW is a *lot* more popular than any of the Prince's games from what we've seen of the polls. That being said, Kratos only has that game while the Prince has many to draw from, and to say that the fanbases of SoT and WW are divergent would be a gross understatement. Add in T2T and he could be a contender, though I would think that the majority of his GameFAQs popularity comes from SoT, for what it's worth.

...that being said, I'd probably give it to CJ, seeing as how I think Ness is still going to snake-bite bracketmakers for another year or two due to underestimation. Eh.

I agree, Gordon WILL become more respectable strength-wise. Reputation-wise, however, he will always be a joke unless he beats down a board favorite...

Not only is his name the namesake of his series (which has been around forever), but he also has not one, but three current gen games to draw from (hello Sam Fisher?).

On another note, I would be utterly, UTTERLY shocked if the Prince could not beat Sam Fisher. Even some of the most hardcore Splinter Cell fans (hello) couldn't give a damn about Sam Fisher. And PoP's least loved game absolutely decimating Pandora Tomorrow doesn't make me quiver in fear at Sam, either.

Does this necessarily mean PoP will crack the fodder line? No, partially because I believe Fisher is overrated in 2k5.

I would take PoP over Sammy, but I don't know how much higher I would take him. Probably between where Kratos is in the stats and Zidane...not sure.

Kratos would beat POP pretty good. Kratos is also a little underrated in the stats thanks to whatever happened between Snake and Sora; I'd say that he is above the fodder line. 45% on Alucard is no joke, whether or not he was actually weaker this year or not.

as for the fodder line - KOS-MOS or Kratos, maybe?

Yeah, but we know that voting trends were different and DK was probably a lot stronger than before. Thus Master Chief was more likely a lot stronger as well. I think by now we can safely conclude he's non-linear. And if you don't you still can't believe that Felix's 47% was all on him in 2k3. <_<

Oh yes, MC's bound to be non-linear...thus the over-performance. I'd like to think he got stronger, too, but I can't see Halo 2, Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow, The Boost/Donkey Konga, and a random boost from the Spring Contest being proportional. Voting trends obviously changed too, but not everywhere...and I don't think that four-pack was touched much, if any.

Felix wouldn't get 47% again on MC though, no question.
