my worst loss is probably SM/LTTP, which I absolutely knew was wrong but put it out of pure hope.

No, I had Vincent going to the Sweet Sixteen, losing out to Squall.
Come to think of it, I don't think I've even picked Blizzard to win anything in any contest. Yes, I had Kratos over Diablo. Again, don't ask.

Heh, I'm in that boat too, although it makes no sense since LttP is at the top of MY list. To top it off, I did the exact same thing with WW. Something made me think that OoT was the most popular Zelda game by far, and the legions of fanboys wouldn't support the other Zelda games as much.
Plus I thought that all Metroid fans would rally around SM at least.

Actually, the 2D and 3D Zelda fans are more mutually exclusive than
you'd like to think. How did LttP clinch 4th in the game contest and
the anniversary contest, you think?

Metroid Prime winning Div128, while not terrible in terms of its
percentage loss to Wind Waker (or even its extrapolated estimate
against SSBM), cost me the most points, and I'm fairly certain Kerrigan

Huh? You took Sonic over Cloud?
Leonhart already said he didn't, but I know I did. Not proud of it though; 2k3 just wasn't too great of a year for me. Hell, I don't think it was alot higher than my VILLAIN CONTEST's score.
Wario vs. Shadow. As if I needed more reasons to hate the damn thing.
That was on my birthday, too. That one blew.
As for my worst pick...Cloud/Sonic, Wario/Shadow, and Zero/Scorpion -- in that order. As I just mentioned, 2k3 just wasn't too great of a year for me. I didn't predict in 2k2 though, to be fair; I'm sure I coulda done a LOT worse in that one.
---
Serious Reminder: Nominate Jay Solano in 2k6.
Why? He floats like a butterfly and stings like a...butterfly. Can't match grace like that.

Here's hoping it'll be enough to propel Sonic to a Final Four berth and finally a win over a Noble Nine character.
Hate to burst your bubble, but Sonic Rush only sold 20,000 copies in November.
Oh, and I had Serious Sam beating Mega Man in 2002. Your move.
But seriously, I didn't know that much about video games back in 2002.

Just 20,000? Bah, that sucks. Sonic's games have been doing the best on the 'Cube, so I figured Rush would help him out.
I'll still hold out hope. He was so close to beating out Mega Man. Plus, he might get lucky and face Solid Snake so he'll be able to beat a Noble Niner without needing a strength boost.
And here's hoping MGS3: Subsistence helps out Solid Snake, too, with the releases of MG1 and MG2. Now the voters will get used to those awful sprites............

In its defense, it did come out pretty much at the same time as Mario
Kart DS. But yeah, 20,000 is pretty lousy. Shadow the Hedgehog did
enough to sell over 100,000 with all three platforms combined. Just for
the other Sonic release that month.

If there was a new Sonic game that was going to help Sonic get a rather
significant boost, I would wager it would be the next-gen Sonic that's
coming out on the PS3 and Xbox 360. Anything other than that probably
wouldn't provide anything substantial, at least I wouldn't think
anything would.
Looking back, and while it may not be the worst thing I could have done, I did pick Squall to beat Solid Snake back in 2002.

Oh yeah. It's been a while, but this is the first time I'm really
anticipating a new Sonic release. The others have ranged from terrible
to good, but this one looks like it'll be fantastic. I love how Naka
said they're trying to recreate Sonic to make it more like the old
games. Appropriate, too, since it'll mark the 15th anniversary of the
Blue Blur when it's released.

I did a favorites bracket in 2k2 and I had Crash > Sephiroth, but with trying I think my worst pick is Wario > Shadow
The other times I think I picked a loser to win that got under 40% are Luigi > Squall, Mario > Sephiroth (2k3), Phantasy Star > Contra and Laharl > Vyse

I can see why people might've took Sonic > Cloud, Sonic did better
against Link (indirectly) than Cloud did, but my reason for taking
Cloud over Sonic was Cloud > Sephiroth > Samus = Sonic.

I didn't know much about both games so I took the higher seed and went on with the bracket. It was only one point. Then again I said the same thing about Halo/Starcraft.

Blowout-wise, my worst pick was Kazuya over Scorpion (71/29 match). I
was surrounded by MK hatred. Even worse was that I had Kazuya making it
to the ELITE EIGHT...not so much because I thought Kaz was strong, but
I thought both Pac-Man and Max Payne were weak. I was right about the
weakness in that half-division, at least.
Pointwise, my worst was Magus over Link. I kinda...knew Link would win, but...I just had to pick somebody to beat Link. I also had Metroid Prime winning Division 128...it seems I always overestimate the Metroid series.
---
"Ah, a party! We haven't had one of those. It could be fun! So...what is a party?"

In terms of points, it's not that hard to figure mine. Worst thing is,
I knew Samus drew a lot of her strength from SSBM and I didn't remind
myself of it at the most crucial time.
Oh well, I can always console myself with the fact that had I picked Mario to win that match, I'd have had him losing to Crono. -_-

Remember that poll? If there was ever a way to ruin a hyped match, this was the one. IIRC it happened near the end of round 1:
http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=1590
Now, keep in mind Metroid Prime was the correct answer, and WW almost had half the votes regardless. Ouch.
