I know some might call me crazy and FFVII fanboy, but I want to see how Reno would do. He could either be fodder or a relative strong character since he's an FFVII character and the star of Advent Children.

Aeris has gotten her fair share of contest exposure and has seen two contests with two Sweet Sixteen appearances...Tifa and Vincent have each seen one contest, where they saw Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight appearances (respectively); no FF7 character has ever lost to a non-Noble Niner, either. I don't wanna see the three of them in the same contest (unless it's the same four-pack), I like Vincent and Tifa more, they've been in one contest less, and they had bigger roles in FF:AC...leave Aeris out please.

Here's to hoping Fox gets the slot instead of Aeris, despite Aeris being able to beat Fox in any given sane scenario.
---
Serious Reminder: Nominate Jay Solano in 2k6.
Why? He floats like a butterfly and stings like a...butterfly. Can't match grace like that.

I'd rather see them both in personally, disliking Aeris but wanting the best entrants possible. I just like intresting brackets, the only way that happens is by people noming the strongest characters, and giving new characters a shot to see what the can do.

As did I.

I'm all for the strongest making it, as Aeris is certainly among them. I'm not so much for seeing five FF characters in the same bracket, though I can live with that. I'm all for interesting matches though; Aeris, by all means, is capable of having an interesting match given the right opponent, but Fox's potential strength has a much wider highest/lowest strength than Aeris does. Throw in there he's been screwed both times he's been in the contest and that he's had two games releases since his last appearance (not to mention The Boost that impressed many this year), and Fox is much more worth watching than Aeris.

way to draw attention to it so the markers notice it!

I am also for leaving Aeris out. or if you put her in, leave Tifa and/or Vincent out. there's too many as is.

I can't see a case for Vincent being left out, though I'd still take Tifa over Vincent. If Aeris has to replace one of them, it almost has to be Tifa.

either way to me. I don't want to see five, six or even more FF7 characters, regardless of the strongest 64. the same goes for the entire SSBM cast - I think I've seen a nomation drive for half the field by now. and once KH2 is out, I'm sure the same will happen with Square's old characters as well.

I don't want to see over three FF7 characters - I don't know what to think about this year, because of the ToC. But in a straight-up, 64-character bracket, all I want to see is Cloud, Sephiroth, and ONE out of Aeris/Tifa/Vincent. I'm clueless as to who is stronger, but after AC I'd be surprised if it was Aeris.

You know, I'd much rather have Red XIII or Barret in the contest, just to see how they measure up, as long as you put them in good matchups. They would be sure to break brackets due to people perhaps overrating (or underrating) them. Yoshi vs. Red XIII anyone? Master Chief vs. Barret?

As for the SSBM crew the following didn't make it to the last contest

Captain Falcon
Dr. Mario
Falco
Fox
Ice Climbers
Jigglypuff
Marth
Mewtwo
Mr. Game & Watch
Peach
Pichu
Pikachu
Roy
Young Link

Dr. Mario and Yound Link, I think wouldn't be eligible. Pikachu IMO has had his chance and that both Jigglypuff and Pichu won't do that well. The Ice Climbers and Mr. Game & Watch will die because they haven't had a non-SSBM game in a long time. C. Falcon doesn't have much of a fanbase outside SSBM, same with Falco. Fire Emblem should get represented and I think either Marth or Roy should be in it.

So here's a list of characters from SSBM that I wouldn't mind to see.

Marth/Roy
Mewtwo
Peach

Small list isn't it?

Eh, I'm not so sure that Fox is weaker than DK, and, regardless of what MC managed on Crono, Frog, Liquid, CATS, and Fisher all have me guessing that MC is a lot lower than the XS might think. Add in the Boost and that we never got a decent read on Fox, and I'm inclined to pick him.

I totally agree about this. However, I think Fox wouldn't be alot stronger than DK (though there's potential). Not that he would need to be, but between MC/Crono and the 360 being out at least eight months before a Fox/MC match could take place, not to mention liking MC more than Fox, and I wouldn't be able to go against MC in that one.

Marth is one of the most popular characters from 6th most popular game on GameFAQs. It's not a gaurentee that he'll be strong, but I think he does have the potential to be a decent midcarder.

Given that my definition of "decent midcarder" encompasses guys like Frog and Alucard, no he wouldn't be. Heck, Ness is probably barely even at that level.

*plays Sonic Rush*

Ah, expect 2006 to be another year where I overestimate the Blue Blur, but regardless, I think this is the game the series has been needing for a LONG time.

Here's hoping it'll be enough to propel Sonic to a Final Four berth and finally a win over a Noble Nine character.

No. As always, people will still probably find some reason to bash the game. And if not, they will simply ignore it and continue to bash Sonic...

And yet, despite the fact that the number of people who think the series jumped the shark at some point is ever increasing, Sonic's contest strength somehow keeps on increasing as well.

I'd say that's a darned good reason to try and overestimate Sonic: it's far too easy to undershoot.

If I had to guess I'd set Fox = Donkey Kong, though if they were in a head to head matchup I would probably take Fox since DK hasn't really had a game of his own since DK64 (I refuse to recognize Donkey Konga as a game), and that wasn't exactly well recieved (even though it kicked ass), not that Fox has either, SFAdventures was bashed by many (even though it kicked ass), and I haven't really heard much talk about SFAssault, the single player was above average and the multiplayer kicked ass 5 ways to sunday. With SF64 that would leave Fox with the most recent popular game by one of the two, however DK appears in pretty much all the Mario spinoffs while Fox is left out, save for SSB:M. Then if you want to look before the 64's era I think you'd have to give the advantage to DK easily with the original Star Fox being the only game to star fox, pardon the pun, which is leveled by the DKC series, among the other games he has starred in.

All in all, I'd probably go with the big hairy ape, though I can't say it isn't influenced by him being my favorite Ninty character, yeah you heard me, I'm a DK fanboy despite the lack of any real solid character. He's got a goddamn coconut gun! So yeah, DK in a close one.

HOORAY RAMBLING!

Huh? You took Sonic over Cloud? I picked Cloud easily that year for the sole reason that I didn't think Sonic would be able to hang with Mario. Cloud took Mario to the limit...

That also means that you had Sonic beating Samus in a rematch in 2k4??? Huh??
