I think something like a Tag-Team should have good teams that don't share fanbases. These are the examples from GFA that I like the most:

Ness/Goemon is great, since it's two cult fanbases together.

Fox/Tails is good, since they're the same animal.

Sephiroth/Soma Cruz is two silver-haired prettyboys together.

Vincent/Diablo is basically the Devil's team.

Bomberman/Bass is quite explosive.

Boo/Kirby is round and quiet.

Teams like those are the kind of Tag-Team battle I'd like.

So far, the only team with the same fanbase is Mario/Wario. I'm also still debating on if I should allow Clinkeroth in the contest or not (though they deserve it, I'd rather have the extra three spots).

What I'm enjoying thus far is having matches like Pac-Man+Raiden / Revolver+Protoman. Pac has defeated Revolver before, and Raiden being on his team can only hurt Revolver...thus making Protoman be the difference maker, and Protoman was last seen in a possible SFF-match against Zero (not to mention behind Mega/Zero and Link/Mega). It's a tough call to make, I think.



Making teams is hard though, I tell ya.

Not enough people know PoP or care about Sub-Zero.

Tough, tough match. But while Aeris SFFs Terra's pitiful power, Mega SFFs the leech Ganondorf into submission.

2 Riku and 7 Tommy Vercetti

Another toughy, but I have faith in KH2 to pull it out.

1 Snake and 8 Bomberman

Jill's off the face of the earth for now and while I think CF could beat Ness, he ain't getting up with Snake.

2 Zelda and 7 Vivi

Pretty clear cut, especially if TP is out.

1 Sonic and 8 Phoenix Wright

DK will **** it up. Yeah, that's enough analysis for me. Actually, I think Sonic would SFF him. <_<

3 Yoshi and 6 KOS-MOS

Locke would be around Terra, and I have faith in Yoshi beating Sora, KH2 or not.

4 Rikku and 5 Chun-Li

Serge just brings more anti-votes in to the fold. <_< Thunder Thighs and co. bring it home in a squeaker.

Auron > Zero by a smidge, but Fox makes up the difference.

No chance for either opponent.

3 Frog and 6 Revolver Ocelot

Tough on the surface, but I can't see Frog weaker than Kefka, or Ocelot weaker than Mewtwo.

Tifa isn't enough, and I think Zidane was SFF'd a tad (yes Tifa would probably SFF him herself, but not enough).

2 Luigi and 7 Ryu Hayabusa

Easy enough.

4 Leon Kennedy and 5 Alucard

Dante's overrated, Alucard's underrated, perfect upset.

3 Magus and 6 Knuckles

Magus and Knuckles are diverse and too much for Squall and Who Cares.

1 Crono and 8 Princess Peach

I wish I could take Bowser/Yuna, especially after seeing what Vincent did to Crono, but Yuna's not enough. Bowser/insert FF7 character here, now that I could get behind.

1 Mega Man and 8 Terra

Decimation by this team.

2 Zelda and 7 Vivi

Nintendo/Square are too much here, especially if TP is out.

1 Sonic and 8 Phoenix Wright

Sonic should take it without too much trouble.

3 Zero and 6 Fox McCloud

Zero and Fox make it out without too much of a sweat.

This one's a LOT tougher, but I'm thinking Kirby would SFF Luigi enough to make it out alive.

First iffy top tier match, but I don't think Mega will beat Crono next year, nor do I think Peach is weaker than Terra.

I wish I had the guts to take Zero and Fox over Samus...but I don't. If Fox somehow got up to Luigi/Yoshi level, though...eh, too much conjecture.

And on a side note, Punch-Out may very well be the most overrated pile of garbage I've ever played. I don't know how anyone can find that fun.

I haven't left B8, there just hasn't been anything of importance to talk about here in awhile, it's not like 2k3 where we were still working out the details 4-6 months later. I don't know. Mega absolutely destroyed Yoshi, to the point where it looked like he got more SFF than Link. I have a feeling he'd have a chance to do something similar to Ganondorf. I mean, there's the fact that Samus didn't really do jack to him, but I don't think she'd be able to do what Mega did to Yoshi, either. Samus just seems to have a problem with SFFing her Nintendo brethren.

so just how powerfull would a tag-team combo of link and cloud be?

To be fair on that matter, I don't think Zelda was SFF'd by Mega Man in 2k3...in fact, for the longest time many of us thought she over-performed on Mega Man like Link did, making it seem like Mega Man had a weakness against LoZ. Then, Ganon not being SFF'd by Samus...that simply seals the deal for me; Ganon wouldn't be hurt any worse than expected if he faced Mega Man.

Hmm...Mega/Zelda completely slipped my mind, and while I think Ganon would still suffer more than usual (I'm thinking Zelda's name would allow her to escape more of a beating from Link than he gave Ganondorf), that's swayed me. That, and the fact that I was lowballing Aeris' strength despite the fact that she has AC and KH2 on the way. <_<

Just the fact that Yoshi did that badly against Mega Man puzzles me. Unless Yoshi just simple didn't get the boost the others got...but that would puzzle me, too.
