Simple Explanation of Extrapolated Standings:
A = Strongest Character
B = Character Weaker than A
C = Character Weaker than B
To figure out a character's Xsts Percentage ---> [(CvB)(BvA)]/50 = CvA
To compare how C would do against B ---> [(CvA)/(BvA)]*50 = CvB
To figure out how B would do against A ---> [(CvA)/(CvB)]*50 = BvA

Yeah, it only had 8 posts. I guess everyone forgot about it. Usually

Speaking of Knuckles and the Sweet 16, you know one thing that would
make the bracket better is to have new blood getting to the later
rounds. I absolutely hate when characters have automatic losses hanging
over their head in the second and third rounds.
I wouldn't mind having the big boys battling a bit earlier in order for some new blood being able to get to the Sweet 16.
*blatant attempt to get sprite pics of Knuckles and Luigi*

On the topic of snubs, I definitely want to see Fox and AERIS return
next year. Other than that I'll be nominating CATS, Gordon, and mostly
new people (including Jay). I might give Crono a nom just because he's
STILL never gotten a #1 seed.

so how much do vote totals matter in the end?
is it better to have 120k votes or a simple 50k?

120,000, no doubt -- higher vote totals makes these contests more epic and credible.

Serious Reminder: Nominate Jay Solano in 2k6.
Why? He floats like a butterfly and stings like a...butterfly. Can't match grace like that.

The higher the vote total, the less of an effect that bracket-voters can have.

We should try to have the Stats Topic come together with a list of five
or so characters we want to nominate for 2006. Fox seems like a pretty
popular idea, and I would like to put forth Aeris as another possible
nominee as well.

I know more people are going to get behind Fox or Aeris for that kind
of thing, but personally, I'd rather see Aya Brea, Morrigan, or Strider
just to see how they'd do now.

I'd like to see them back too - the problem is, they'd probably all be
fodder. Considering that Aeris has some real power (and I like her
better), I'm more interested in seeing her return. But I might be
willing to spend a nomination on someone like Morrigan.

No, do NOT put Aya Brea in this thing again. Square has all but
forgotten about Parasite Eve. Once she performs poorly, people will
just call her match against Donkey Kong a fluke. I would have said
Musashi because at LEAST he's still relevant, but his PS2 game was
pretty forgettable.
I'd go with Fox myself since he has barely gotten a chance to do anything in these contests. At least Aeris has two Sweet 16 appearances under her belt plus a strong showing against Sonic. Plus we pretty much know that she will probably perform around Tifa's level.
Fox, we pretty much have no clue where he stands. He got pitted in the first round against Cloud, and we've seen other occurances of people getting knocked out in the first round that are deceptively stronger. Then he gets stuck in TWO SFF in 2k3, one where he benefits, and one where he is on the ass end. Then you have to add to that the Nintendo boost of 2k5, and you have to wonder how he could have done. You could have stuck him in any of the divisions and made it interesting...

So far for new entrants/old entrants that need to get in again, I'm all for the following:
1. The Prince of Persia
2. Fox McCloud
3. Aeris Gainsborough
4. Phoenix Wright
5. Raphael/Nightmare
6. Pikachu
Granted I don't like all of the above characters (3,5,6) but I'd like to see them in a contest setting, there's probably more, but that's all I have for now.

Hell, while you're at it... just put in the entire playable cast of SSBM and FF7. <_<

MM are my INITIALS "There are only 10 kinds of people in this world, those that read binary and those that don't."

Well to be fair I'm not doing it because of SSB:M, it just so happens that SSB:M is a game with a collection of Nintendo's most popular characters, I can't help that.

Reading old stats topics is fun. Apparently slowflake is psychic:

Who was the #2 villain behind Sephiroth? Magus? Ganondorf? Bowser? (These four should be the top seeds in a villain contest!)
[...]
Another point of interest... Mario vs. Samus could be THE bracket-buster if it happens next year.
---
SC2k5 and SpC2k5 First Vote Champion
Nominate Aeris for SC2k6.

people I'll nominate:
1. Jay Solano
2. Serge
3. POP
after that it's up for debate. I don't care to nominate character #454 from SSBM or FF7, but I'll probably do Fox for Soul. I would really like to see Serge in action.

Man, I would've loved to see Sephiroth obliterate Magus and see
everyone call it SFF. That would've made the Knuckles upset all the
sweeter, methinks.
And the stat topics tend to get more humorous the further back you go.
